It's like someone kicking your car, repairing it, tuning it up so it runs better and paying off your car finance.

It's not my patter Its a story that a lot of Sundays are running with! Did you know that Hughton didn't manage the dressing room and that he speaks to the comittee and they speak to the team CT just ignore them.......................its a decent thread with a valid point .......a lot of people on here tend to think that unless you have same opinion as them then your talking shit.................really boils my piss how your arnt allowered to express ya opinion without getting slated Dont worry Im thick......skinned I do find it strange how there are times like this week when there are so few football threads going (on a football discussion forum ) and you put up a serious topic, big in the papers, with various outcomes for the club and the manager .... and then get some pretty daft responses. Whats more, you get the whingers from people who cant even be arsed to hoy up some threads of their own. Seeders and Leachers I think to be honest, there are very few people on here these days who are really that interested and able to discuss Newcastle related topics. Truthfully I think I can think of about 10 or so who are worth listening too and some of the real interesting ones are the newer lads (you know who you are). Maybe its time to............ Maybe later

This summer will see alot of purses snapped shut and your right that a good fe clubs could be in the mire. I read this post on NO While you can argue over specifics, the truth remains that the foundations need to be in place for sustained success otherwise it all collapses as we saw under Fred. I hope this time we do build a brick at a time and gradually get ourselves back up to the top as a proper club with all the bits in place.

How is asking where the money would come from a unacceptable question LM? What budget for transfers/wages do you think even a maximum level of STs and merchandise + TV Money gives? - I'd guess not enough for survival - maybe £20m. So where would your money come from? The alternatives are Ashley speculating which is a fair demand but unlikely and debt. It looks like a few special cases aside, large debt would not be a possibility. A request for credit in 2010 is infinitely different to a request at anytime under Shepherd. Your suggestion that Ashley or anyone else could simply ask for £50m say is a non-starter. I think large debt being available now is unlikely as it was pre-Hall. So Man City type purchase aside, maybe the only hope we have for the future is to concentrate on youth development etc - I've certainly accepted that the days of spending millions on players which you seem to suggest is feasible is a non-starter. This isn't a defence of Ashley btw - I think he either needs to sell up quick or he really does need to speculate to make his money back - the halfway house we're heading for will result in relegation imo but we also have to consider what happens if he does go - a Barry Moat type takeover would just lead us directly to the scenario I describe above. Excellent post...some very good points

Fucking Love it.....Should have had a few unburied corpses in the background as well.

I heard that someone tried to nut him yesterday. If true I support this course of action more than giving him any cheers. His mistakes have cost us a year in oblivion, and you expect us to cheer him? His lies have caused deep rooted rifts through the support which will take more than an inevitable promotion to heal. I guessed that would be the response on here tbh, I just have this crazy hope that he really does want to make amends and lay foundations to make us a proper top 6 club. We all know there are few Billionaires out there and lots of dodgy consortiums and therefore it would be ideal if this worked out. I know we are not going to go down the Leazes wishlist of investment anytime soon, but if sensible sums were given to Hughton and other actions were taken to lay the right foundations, could you ever see yourself letting Bygones be bygones ?

The talk on the radio today was that the next xx years will see the usual trend of the top players playing in Spain, Italy and England stop. Instead China or Booming Russia will attempt to re-create our success over there. Players will ofcourse follow the way. This will all follow the example set by the IPL

I understand the point. It's pure speculation though and does Hughton a bit of a disservice imo. As it does to the rest of the side. The team spirit is good but it's been better, if anything (as has the football) when two of the people listed weren't playing - Smith and Butt. Speculation!!!!!! This story is all over the place and will become louder after promotion. Does chris even give team talks???? So, do you think Hughton's a good manager then? Time will tell, but this story and similar ones elsewhere today certainly surprised me shall we say. Ofcourse you can then look at how this committee will be influential throughout the summer and into next year and whether that could be problematic, but hey that's discussion not wummery It may also not be a bad thing in the short term, stability and all, however I do like to think of a manager, managing.

For those who haven't read some of these stories, here is a clip from the Telegraph. I was not only surprised it was quite this way, but a little surprised that it's coming out. One may feel this undermine what Hughtons achieved a bit ( I don't). So without this committee in place, things may have been a lot worse. Hughton's ego-free modus operandi has empowered his charges through a committee, including the former Bolton player, as well as Nicky Butt, Steve Harper and Alan Smith. "We've had a committee and if Chris has got something he wants to share with the lads he'll come to the four most experienced players," Nolan, 27, added. "It works having a third party. I'm here for them to have a little moan or whatever or I'd take their problem to Colin [Calderwood] or Chris. "We have a management that is so happy with the system. They allow us to manage the dressing room but if Chris comes in and says 'no that's not right, this is what we do', then that's it. It's finished, no matter what we say. When Chris wants something he gets it. "He is a great manager, a great fella. Make no mistake, they manage, we just play."

Your totally missing the point tbh
-
Well drag yourself out of that armchair and create some threads
-
once again no counter argument It looks like your taking the Alex guide to increasing post count without ever saying anything. I thought you had so much more!!!!! Come on, just this once, explain what's wummery about a thread on one of the most written about stories of the weekend! Dare ya
-
you misunderstand, I'm not talking about their football credentials I'm talking about the leadership they showed at the famous 6-1 meeting when the four got together and decided to manage the dressing room. It also sounds as if their comittee went to see Ashley and demanded Hughton be paid permanent manager. It shows they cared about the situation and wanted to do something about it. Hence the fantastic team spirit that has been there ever since. It would have been quite easy for them to sit back, collect their wages and not give a fuck. This I believe will be THE story of our season and only now are details starting to drift into the media. Band of Brothers save the Toon.
-
aye, I bit. So only season ticket holders can have an opinion
-
You ungrateful fuckers!!!!!! Seriously All the talk of greedy footballers not giving a fuck and here's four lads who it seems took control and stabalised the ship. I couldn't be anymore serious! Perhaps one of you could express a counter point of view? And it's fuck all to do with Ashley or Llambias.... If anything it sounds more like they laid out there demands and got them!! Jeez some people!

You need to start reading a better newspaper... "It is 45 years since Tyneside saw first hand their own players gain promotion. Not since 1965 have they done it at St James' Park."

Pud, another depressingly gloomy soopafan post. All you see before you is doom and gloom. It just might not turn out as bad as you WANT everyone to believe. The main problem you have is that most fans have moved on, we've thoroughly enjoyed winning again even if it's in a poorer league. Where you see doom and gloom I see an owner who will either sell or not want to repeat mistakes do will invest. I see an energetic young manager who let's the results do the talking. I see a great team spirit and a team of old pros and young'uns playing for each other which while it may not be good enough to get us into Europe, is good enough to build on for next season. You are my worst kind of fan.... Moan, moan moan and piss on any little improvements that take place. Smile kidda.
-
Might just do that.
-
Now Alex I remember quite well you talking about being able to cancel your 3 year deal if you hadn't paid in advance!!!!! I however, was paying by direct debit and managed to cancel. I don't claim to be a sooopafan, I've had many a season ticket over the years and only came back for the Special K dream. I'm quite happy to going back to picking when i want and can afford to go. But your right, I might be their on Monday

But we are so credit where credits due.
