  1. Nelson wanted to play but as he was on large pay as you play type bonuses (on top of his normal wage) the club refused to play him and pretended that he was injured long after he had recovered from his injury. Similar situation with Salgado and a few others.
  2. For some reason people seem to think it's ok for Villa fans to boo McLeish but not Blackburn fans to boo Kean. Completely behind the Blackburn fans on this one. Venky's ownership of them is extremely dodgy from the various reports I've heard with Allardyce, their former chairman Williams and others having to sign agreements not to talk about certain aspects of the ownership adding weight to the various rumours. Add to that the agent Jerome Anderson who has basically been choosing who they buy (he's also Kean and most of the squads agent) siginng players like Bruno Ribero and his own son Miles who have yet to play a single game. Not to mention flops like Petrovic and Dann. They have every right to boo.
  3. Andrew loses mod status if we don't win, finish top 4 and win the champions league next season.
  4. As far as football statues go it's pretty run of the mill. Nothing special about it good or bad. Doesn't look that much like Robson but it's still recognizable and could be a lot worse.
  5. Even with a change of manager (which would certainly be a big help) they'd need a lot more investment to be challenging for the top 4 I reckon. Downing/Henderson/Spearing etc are nothing players and some of their usually reliable players like Reina and Gerrard seem to be on the wane. I actually think Caroll will come good for them eventually, or at least be an adequate player as he has begun to show again.
  6. I'd take our season over theirs any day of the week. It would obviously be nice to win the Carling cup but Liverpool have been horrendous and played terrible football for the majority of the season whilst we have had too many memorable games and goals to even begin to list.
  7. Holy shit has nobody said Beresford yet? Fuck you tom!
  8. Any players who played for us after the late 80s left CT? Otherwise it's a waste of my brain...
  9. Only on this very page man! (actually your clip is longer to be fair)
  10. The problem is there are 7 teams who will genuinely believe they could attempt to get into the CL next season not to mention the fact that the likes of Everton will look at us and think "if they can challenge for it, why can't we?". So there's a hell of a lot of competition for these places and so many variables that it's very difficult to know where everyone stands. Who will be Chelsea/Spurs manager next season? Maybe Arsenal will lose RVP or alternatively, keep him and strengthen, maybe Liverpool won't be utter shit. So much to be decided over the summer before we can make proper predictions (which will still be wrong).
  11. With what we have at our disposal top 7 should be the minimum. Liverpool surely won't be as shit next season (though I would absolutely love that) so it could be tough to do this again but who knows. Hope we take the Europa league seriously (and if by chance we make the CL, don't get hammered).
  12. That's like the stats you see from players in the 19th century.
  13. like how you just assume Chez is a certainty.
  14. Christ Rob's fashion sense was a bit iffy back then. Starts that clip being interviewed in a red suit and ends the clip in yellow. Great player all the same.
  15. With the money we're likely to spend I'd be happy if we kept the current team together, added a full back and a promising young centre back. A new striker to fill in for the Dembas too. I have a feeling at least one key player will leave this summer so obviously a replacement there as well if that happens. Jonas is the least of our concerns. He's playing well, seems happy to be here etc
  16. Would have been a fantastic signing. Roeder was probably compiling another report about Kuyt at the time though.
  17. Definitely agree that we don't need a new set of rules but what do you do when one poster doesn't have the common sense to know they are wrecking things for everyone else? You had the most sensible debate with him I've ever seen on here and it still went the same way as the others.
  18. Ba's great, I feel sorry for him that his fantastic season might get overshadowed by Cisse and Ben Arfa but he's still absolutely vital to the team. Would love him to get a goal or two before the season's over.
  19. It's impossible to create a rule like this that can be perfectly defined on a forum. One mans "derailed thread" is another man's "casual debate about club ownership". Obvious things like racism are straightforward but this issue (and it's basically all about LM so why bother skirting around it) is harder to put a rule to. I really think common sense has to come into it, some sort of vote if need be.
  20. If there needs to be a rule it should be banning for constant derailing of threads. How you define constant is up to you but imo it should be common sense rather than some strict system. The thing is though, no one has a problem with thread derailing per se and like Trophyshy said, it's often hilarious. Problem is we're all basically skirting around the issue that this all centres around one distinct problem.
  21. Well you can't just make up a rule that says "derailing threads=banning" as there'd be nobody left. It's just a question of quantity. The only posters I can think of who've done this on a mass scale in my time here are Fop, LM and ASM and even Fop was at least derailing it with different nonsense each time rather than that one bonkers debate the other two used to have.
  22. If STaylor could stay fit for a full season then I think we just need cover at CB rather than a starting XI quality as you put it. A young CB to challenge Colo and Taylor would suffice. Agree on the LB though.
  23. Never ever look at the "what are you listening to" thread as opinions about music make my head explode so I just avoid it entirely.
