  1. Class pics Bring back memories. See just where this pic is showing I was stood looking from this angle, for Gazza's last appearance at SJP for us against West Ham. The ball went in the benches and some bloke kicked it back on to the pitch but as he kicked it his slip on shoe which were all the fashion went flying on to the pitch too. It landed a foot away from Gazza who picked it up, smelled it, and fell down as if he was consumed by the fumes was a priceless Gazza moment. Right in front of the corner almost. The bloke who's shoe it was would get an all-ground ban now.
  2. Sad for anyone that knows him personally, but... one less feckin property show on TV- result!
  3. Nicely put Stefano. Now, if you could just ease off with the righteous indignation Obsessed- new Leazes tbh
  4. They really are as well you know, they create a very uncomfortable atmosphere for the players. When I said they were shite, I didn't mean numerically though, I think 40,000 for a club of their size against someone like Fulham is a fantastic crowd. Letting the cat out of the bag there Barrack Stevie
  5. You're right Fish, according to Wiki; "By 1150, the Order's original mission of guarding pilgrims had changed into a mission of guarding their valuables through an innovative way of issuing letters of credit, an early precursor of modern banking. Pilgrims would visit a Templar house in their home country, depositing their deeds and valuables. The Templars would then give them a letter which would describe their holdings. Modern scholars have stated that the letters were encrypted with a cipher alphabet based on a Maltese Cross; however there is some disagreement on this, and it is possible that the code system was introduced later, and not something used by the medieval Templars themselves.[4][5][6] While traveling, the pilgrims could present the letter to other Templars along the way, to "withdraw" funds from their account. This kept the pilgrims safe since they were not carrying valuables, and further increased the power of the Templars."
  6. Were you charged 99 groats to withdraw at non Templar churches?

  11. From today's Torygraph; "A nail dating from the time of Christ's crucifixion has been found at a remote fort believed to have once been a stronghold of the Knights Templar. The four-inch long nail is thought to be one of thousands used in crucifixions across the Roman empire. Archaeologists believe it dates from either the first or second century AD. The nail was found last summer in a decorated box in a fort on the tiny isle of Ilheu de Pontinha, just off the coast of Madeira. Pontinha was thought to have been held by the Knights Templar, the religious order that was part of the Christian forces which occupied Jerusalem during the Crusades in the 12th century. The knights were part of the plot of Dan Brown's best-selling novel, The Da Vinci Code. Bryn Walters, an archaeologist, said the iron nail's remarkable condition suggested it had been handed with extreme care, as if it was a relic. "It dates from the first to second centuries," he told the Daily Mirror. While one would expect the surface to be "pitted and rough" he said on this nail the surface was smooth. That suggested that many people had handled it over the centuries, with the acid on their hands giving it a "peculiar finish". Christopher Macklin of the Knights Templar of Britannia said the discovery was "momentous". He said the original Knights Templar may have thought it was one of the nails used in Christ's crucifixion. The nail was found together with three skeletons and three swords. One of the swords had the Knight Templar's cross inscribed on it." Has Dan Brown got a new book coming out I wonder?

  15. While I like the sound of that it'll be foolhardy to rush the championship's best player back early. It'll be Van Aanholt at LB and Guthrie on the right. With Best and Carroll up front. Still fancy us to win at a saunter though. Carroll, Williamson and Smith to score. Oh Fish, you chucklesome cad
