  1. The government has averaged £38 billion per annum over the last ten years in road user taxation (vehicle tax, fuel duty etc.) whilst spending an average £15 billion per year over the same period on all of transport (roads, rail, aviation, tube, tram, the lot). Therefore motorists are not only paying for all transport, but subsidising a fair few other government departments as well. And what have we got to show for it? Cramped, expensive, unreliable and crumbling railways and shite public transport infrastructure. Are you older than you're letting on Dr. Ken? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/141...-by-combat.html

  15. I suppose is as time a time as any to re-tell a wee story which might raise a smile. Mrs. Fist works in sunlun, a couple of years ago one of her mackem workmates got pregnant. Mrs. Fist kept me updated with every single detail of the pregnancy, as women do, and, come the birth, in she came with a grin as wide as the Tyne. "Chantelle* had her baby today , you're going to love this…" She was by this stage giggling like a bairn, so my interest was piqued. "Come on then, what happened, did her daft bastard husband feint or something?" says I. " No, better than that, it's got 6 toes!". After about half an hour when I'd calmed down, I asked if she was serious, and she was-deadly. *True story, name changed to protect the mutant.
