  1. I'm wetter than a spakka's chin for it.
  2. What research have done, specifically? Throw up, say, 5 credible links to show us the research. Then we may begin to understand why you believe what you do. Who knows, we may even convert But seriously, provide some background to this research you've done please.
  3. It's a strange one. My parents weren't religious in the least. I can count the number of times I went to church as a child on one hand. But they weren't anti-religion, they just felt it was my choice, not theirs, as to what I believed. My wife was brought up in a very "Churchy" family. Summer Church Camp, Sunday School, Church Club, the full Christian works. When I first met her, she was going throug the process of rejecting her belief and becoming an atheist. Interesting times at the Mother-in-Law's , let me tell you We are trying to bring our children up to let them decide for themselves, they experience both people with faith ,and people without. She loves staying at her Granny's , but knows that if she stays on a Saturday night, she has to go to Church with Granny on Sunday morning. Sometimes she doesn't mind, other times she finds it dull. I'm quite happy for her to experience both , as it means when she does come to decide, hopefully it'll be based on , at least partly, her experience of both sides. Obviously, I'd like her to eventually be an atheist, but if she finds faith, so be it, it'll be her choice. What I'm trying to say is that I see my job as a father as that of giving them as much information and guidance as I can, even when some of it isn't necessarily what I believe myself, but then when they are able to choose their own path, at the very least I'll have given them informed choices. Mind, even though he's only 2, I've already told my son " Nee Munters wor Kid, nee munters".
  4. True story- my daughter became very interested in the planets, so we went through them and she learnt them all. She asked why you can sometimes see the Moon during the day, so I explained to her how the Earth orbits the Sun, and the Moon orbits the Earth. We did this by me being the Earth, her being the Moon, and the tree in our garden being the ( static) Sun. As well as having a good giggle spinning round the garden until we were dizzy, she grasped the concept of planetary and satellite moon orbits pretty quickly. She turned 5 in July.
  5. So , who wins the Camp contest , divers or figure skaters?
  6. Sorry, was posting before I saw this. Emails have been sent to Coe and Johnson btw.
  7. Your skills of perception are perfectly summed up here old chap. Given that your entire Universe Theiry is based on what you can perceive, I'd maybe suggest you go back and have a rethink? I've got two nippers btw, 5 and 2 yrs old.
  8. I'll accept your expert opinion on this.
  9. Like a Perseid meteorite. You may be shocked to hear this Wolfy, but you aren't the only poster on here with kids. Shocking, I know.
  10. My cousin, fuck knows how,had some kind of caterpillar type grub in his ear for a couple of days when we were about 12. We all thought it was a hoot, (except him),it'd crawl into view, you'd try to grab it with tweezers, and it would scuttle back round the bend and munch on a bit wax. He said the worst thing was at night, lying in bed, he could hear nothing but it , crawling about inside his head, chewing on his earwax. *shudders*
  11. So, her world revolves around you. How does that fit with Wolfyworld then?
  12. Stiffer than Fiona Bruce's knickers. What's been a pleasant surprise , on here and in the real , actual life thingy, is the utter lack of cynicism. Everyone I've encountered has been totally taken up by the national mood. Feckin great to see.
  13. Just dropped my blender.
  14. Couldn't give a toss, can anyone remember any closing ceremony? Mind, if there's not some topless Rio Carnival tittage I'll be sending a stiff letter of complaint to Toryboy Coe!
  15. As someone said earlier, Sports Personality of the Year should be interesting this year for once. From the Opening Ceremony onwards, it's exceeded my expectations massively.
  16. You allergic to them Cath? I used to do a dish when cheffing that was so easy but bloody lovely. Roast whole yellow and red peppers, skin them making sure all charred skin is gone. Make two sauces by liquidising the yellow and red peppered separately , add white wine and chicken stock to both, a smidge of chilli to the red and roast garlic to the yellow. Cook both off on a gentle heat. I'd then take pieces of Cod, Monkfish, and Haddock and dust them lightly in seasoned flour and grill, hoying some dill on at the end. You can make it with just one type of white fish , obviously. Put a good spoonful of each sauce on each half of the plate, give it a little shake to spread evenly, then swirl where they meet with a knife tip. Arrange the grilled fish on top in the ponciest way you bring yourself to do, then serve it up with whatever your favourite steamed greens are-I'd usually go for Curly Kale. Much easier than it sounds tbh.
  17. I bet that's not the first time you've said that. Giddup! Wahey!
