Stevie, you really are a complete embarrassment to your fellow supporters http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...ier-League.html survey of 2,708 football fans... wow, that is supposed to back up an argument... 2,708??? Canny sample size if done properly. The fact it's an internet poll renders it useless bollocks though. I'd be more concerned that watching their team on TV is supposed to make them the 'best' fans. You're right, it is a decent sample size, I'm not sure how big your fellow supporters think sample sizes are but they're never generally more than a couple of thousand, as for the watching your team on tv comment, maybe you should reread the article, it says Liverpool are the best supported club and as a side point mentions that they are also the most watched on tv, nothing to do with the point that I was making, finally, there is nothing wrong with internet surveys, it is the 21st century after all! Surely the fact that the survey was carried out on behalf of these guys http://www.wheresthematch.com/tv/home.asp which appears to be some sort of football streaming website suggests that its the sort of armchair,sky/setanta/stream watching fan that the survey did actually ask? Do you think they went to the bother of employing market researchers to ask 2,708 folk just about to go through a turnstile which team they support?......the survey is fucking useless, the telegraph should be shot for using it. What the article suggests is that Liverpool has the most glory hunters based on "past successes" with Manu second and Spurs third.....and we're 5th which just proves what a crock of shit it all is, because where's the glory in supporting us at the moment, either in person at the games or via a tv screen? And for that matter fuckin Spurs haven't been setting the premier league since its inception have they? based on this survey Spurs would be the third best supported team because of the acheivements of Bill Nicholson and Danny Blanchflower.......what a load of fuckin shit.

The editor of the sporting life said that on talksport, which is a bit different, and he was taking a guess, the same as any punter on here. Steve Bruce got it right, he said only if he gets a stupid ie 10 mill offer for Heskey would he consider selling Heskey in January, and aonly if he can find a decent replacement....and JFK said much the same at the weekend. I think he's ours till the summer, but after that who knows? Steve Bruce has a chairman/owner who supports his manager and understands football as an ex pro. World of difference between that and a fuckwit like Ashley has been so far. 110% correct I'd be inclined to agree with you and on the evidence Ashley has presented so far, anything could happen.Indeed,in reality the Owen "horse" may have bolted the NUFC stable months ago. But there is a contract on the table, Ashley seems to have finally realised that Owen is the best player we have and our best insurance against relegation. All of which KK told him, but there you go. No one is going to bid 10mill for Owen next month, not when he can be got for nothing in June. The club in its present financial situation will find themselves a lot better off being in the premier league next season (with or without Owen) than taking a couple of million for the player in January and being relegated, and I think even Ashley has realised that.
-
He's not a talksport presenter, he was being interviewed on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show, and the bit in your post I've highlited is precisely what I was pointing out in my previous post, it certainly wasn't the opinion of talksport,it was the opinion of the editor of the sporting life. Which your first post failed to mention.Which is a bit of a contradiction, seeing as in your subsequent post you tell me that it wasnt the opinion of talksport, which I feel I had pointed out in contradiction to your first post in my first post. hope that clears things up

Michael Owen and his relationship with the toon fans
PaddockLad replied to a topic in Newcastle Forum
I was at pompey on Sunday and it was fuckin embarrassing in a funny sort of way....virtually everyone got their name bellowed out by our lot, even fuckin Enrique, which to be fair was warranted as he played as well as I've seen him....but poor Michael got barely a fuckin mention....Oba was having a bit of a mare, was carrying an injury for 15mins before he scored, and because of this he wasnt attempting to get the ball back when he invairiably lost the ball, and still he name was being sung from the rafters.......all after Owen had scored a goal using huge bravery (the meat in a James/Campbell sandwich?..no thanks!) and finishing superbly under immense pressure...if he does leave and turns round and says "I never felt truly accepted by the fans" it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. -
A bust of Sir Bobby stands in the player's entrance at SJP: http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsD...1248756,00.html

So do you think any of the previous regimes in say the last 30 years at SJP have been so much better than Ashley and his muckers?.....or is it just because he let KK walk off into the sunset? I don't think anyone bar Sir John Hall has really moved the club forwards, and KK was a pretty stupid appointment if the plan was to have a "continental" management structure above him....it was always going to end in tears, the whole football world told us but most of us chose not to listen. Mostly we've always in my time been run by a shower of self serving twats, and Ashley is just the latest. The club has changed since the days of "sack the board" 20 years ago, two new generations of fans have come into the club. The club is virtually unrecognisable in form and structure from what was there in those days, so to think we can get rid of Ashley by sitting down in protest on the Gallowgate or outside the Stawberry/ waving badly spelt bed linen at skytv cameras outside Shearers or bycotting matchday beer and the club shop is, sadly, a bit far fetched. As far as I can see compromise is what is needed on both sides, and this NUSC statement makes a lot of sense.Still won't be joining though....why do they need a tenner from everyone? apparently a thousand have signed up, so they have 10k in the bank less what the flyers handed out before the Blackburn game, website set up costs.....does all that cost 10 grand?.........if they really wanted to put pressure on to force Ashley out, then perhaps a campaign for everyone who had signed up to the 3 year season ticket deal to cancel the direct debits for next seasons ST's? A mate of mine suggested this to them but they've ignored it in favour of compromise when the chance was there to put the club in an awkward posistion....swallow it or take the supporters to court.......it wouldve been interesting to see what wouldve happened, but it may well have damaged the us and them terminally. So compromise it is, which is very different to their initial stated aims. I cant get away from the feeling though after their bold initial aims and now this sudden about turn that it will be just another talking shop acheiving next to fuck all with a few "media oppurtunities" for those who have got themselves on to the comittee. With us plebs paying 10 quid to let them do it.

I'VE NO TIME FOR TOON FANS OUTSIDE OF NEWCASTLE!
PaddockLad replied to HEARTBREAKER's topic in Newcastle Forum
aye..........anyone from outside the city supporting the Toon is nothing but a glory hunting bandwagoner...........all those tropies in the last 40 years makes us an obvious club for attracting twats like that -
Thats his biggest problem.......the club is worth about half what he wants for it.Has it progressed either as a business or on the pitch since he bought it? I think the answer on both counts is no. So why would any self respecting billionaire buy it for double the price of what it is worth? MA's biggest mistake is not doing due dilligence to uncover what he claims were "hidden debts". These were apparently 110mill, which he has coveniently tacked on to the asking price.........and he's surprised he can't sell in a financial market that makes The Wall Street Crash" look like a walk in the park. The bloke is a born gambler, has been all his life, and this is one he's going to lose out on.........sadly he runs the risk of taking NUFC down with him. And regardless of what the bloke on the radio says that would be a disaster for Ashley and us.

Best Goal You've Ever Seen At St. James' Park?
PaddockLad replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yep thats the one for me. He knobbed one in a few weeks earlier that was pretty important. Dont see many goals knobbed in by the likes of Bergkamp or Henry do you??? Best goal I saw was Gazzas against Chelsea. I was sat in the makeshift seats in the Leazes for some reason that day. I've never seen that goal repeated on TV,video or dvd (if anyone has a copy PM me!!) but it is without doubt one of the best I've ever seen.Jackie Milburn was at the time the judge of something called "Barclays Young Eagle of the Month" for the NE and he said much the the same in the match programme the following home game. also as mentioned by others: Gazza v Palace in the cup McGee v Bradford Ginola v Ferencvaros and one by Pedro in his second spell at SJP.........a volley from the right hand side of the area in a night game..........can't remember who we were playing?........... -
We could name the training ground and the academy "the Sir Bobby Robson Centre" or something....he told fatfred we were a disgrace because we didnt have purpose built training facilities, and it was designed, built and opened whilst he was manager. There is a bust of him just inside the Old Milburn Stand entrance...........very good likeness of him
-
Okay.........say he goes back to Forest next month on a contract to keep them in the championship with a bonus if he actually does..........where the fuck do you think that would leave us? He's limited as a manager, anyone can see that...........but we'd be fucked without him at the moment, and it looks like he knows it,hence trying to get a bit more loot out of Ashley.Fair play to the bloke. Add your list of realistic candidates to replace him at a club in complete limbo if he walks below.........
-
He's just playing the game...........he's basically saying to any champioship team who are thinking of dumping their present boss"I'm availiable and I want a 3 year contract" But don't be surprised if he's still here after xmas............Ashley wants 300 mill for a club thats worth no more than 150......and its a buyers market. Good luck Mike

The point is how did he deem it a foul? And worse how can he STILL deem it a foul after watching video playback? Clearly a ref can deem anything a foul, but that doesn't make them right. Graham Poll said after ther game " Just because he got the ball first doesn't mean that its not a foul" which as far as I can dedeuce means its as you say completely down to the refs interpretation of the law. Which means we're probably fucked and Beye is out for 3 games. With the advantages of Setanta slow motion Beye clearly got the ball first and then his and Robinho's momentum led to their being contact between their legs. That is why it isnt a foul. Beye didnt try to clear him out by taking his standing leg which was what Poll seemed to be implying, and Styles was also shouted down by 3 ex England internationals sat in the Studio. Styles' posistioning to make the call was dreadful (not that he needs to be 20 yards away and have 3 players between him and the ball to fuck it up-ask Bolton) and the linesman on that side bottled it completely. they need to be made an example of but I'm not holding my breath.

Evening folks Leicester away 92, last game of the season.....had to fight our way into and out of Filbert Street, and its the only time I remember us being on the pitch in such numbers and being charged by police horses......a friend of a friend got blinded in one eye that day too We got back to Gateshead and went for a kebab......where the (obviously sober) lad who was driving our bus put some gobshite mackems head through the window........horrible day really The football side of it was awesome, with us scoring in the last minute and staying up (even though we were safe anyway I seem to remember) then David Kelly running into the crowd at the end
