    United line up Aguirre

Feb 8 2009 by Neil Farrington, Sunday Sun

NEWCASTLE have lined up Mexican coach Javier Aguirre as a successor to Joe Kinnear if the current United manager quits this summer.

    Javier Aguirre

The Magpies believe Aguirre, who was controversially sacked by Atletico Madrid last week, could fill the breach should Kinnear decide against accepting the offer of a two-year contract at St James’s Park.

Kinnear has been taking time to weigh up his personal circumstances, and missed yesterday’s win at West Brom due to ill health — although he intends to return to his post in the near future.

But United have drawn up contingency plans which could see Aguirre inherit the hotseat.

The 50-year-old spent two-and-a-half seasons in charge at Atletico, having landed the job by steering modest Osasuna into Europe via a fourth-place finish in La Liga.

Aguirre looked well set for a long stay in Madrid when Atletico finished fourth in Spain last season, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in 11 years.

But despite an impressive start to the current campaign, and Atletico qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, Aguirre was fired after a six-game winless start to 2009.

That sparked anger among some Atletico players, with the likes of striker Diego Forlan reportedly intent on following Aguirre out of the club in the summer.

Newcastle considered the credentials of several Spanish-based coaches before and after appointing Kevin Keegan as manager 13 months ago

    Jiminez still pulling the strings?

Can this gadgie speak better English than Ramos?

  2. If I was Andy Average fan, ie not militant etc, I might look at the statement so far and say,

Great, getting the debt sorted out, aimimg to get us challenging for the top four within 5 years, now going to communicate monthly bla bla bla.

My point is, what do nusc now want.

    Ashley aint going.

He aint suddenly going to splash the cash, freddy style.

    He aint bringing KK back.

He aint going to take time out from his billion pound empire to chat to NUSC directly

This all given, what do NUSC now actually want.

    The truth?

to have all fans treat as actual paying customers with an opinion and not some piece of shit that they can give any old bollocks to?

Fair enough PP, a good starting point.....I've got a couple of questions too....Why did you folks not feel like banding together in protest when Shepherd was spending his way to the Nou Camp and the San Siro, because as far as I can see Ashley's biggest problem is having to write the cheque for Sheps ten years in the hotseat while the man himself is sat in Mallorca 30 million or so richer due to Ashley's rashness.......which also, it could be argued, has actually also saved the club from a twelve point deduction due to the strong possibilty of us being in receivership in February 2009 due to the debts of the Shepherd era.Another buyer couldve been attracted, but one or two did do due dilligence and they

passed on the opputunity....surely not a good sign?

For the record, I'm actaually vaguely in favour of of NUSC's aims and wishes, I too think fans have strong representation at the club, but there is also two sides to everything and for me it has to be said that you guys may be either shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted or picking on completely the wrong target?

placing the blame all on freddys shoulders is buying into lambsarse's bullshit , been many a smarter person that you went over those figures and pointed out the bullshit ,

and freddy knew what he was doing , debt or not , he said himself he had that sorted with loan secured on future ticket sales , and also he had investment lined up for sam (sam has backed this up aswell)

Well, you could put it like that, but there are two sides to everything in this and it would just as easy for me to say that you've swallowed what Shep has added to the debate...large parts of it are unprovable on both sides. And Shep had sorted a loan secured against future ticket sales?...supposing that it true, its pretty much the same financial model that Peter Ridsdale employed at Leeds Utd a few years back

If that AC Milan one is any indication as to what ours is going to be like... then I'm going to be impressed :outahere:

Well thats the thing...our present strip is just a piece of generic addidas mechandise...it has no originality in it,no one in germany has been given the brief to design a new Newcastle United strip as our current one is just a monochrome version of the Milan strip from last season....it's an addidas strip, not a Newcastle United strip. I didn't buy it. I bought this one...again...this is what a Newcastle United strip looks like ....

I'll just get me coat :suicide:

but I still say the current strip looks nothing like a Newcastle United strip as I know it......its fuckin horrible

  6. Yeah he's crap and should never have got the contract, but I still don't understand why when any other player makes a mistake it gets pointed out but there doesn't tend to be any insult accompanying it. With Ameobi there's normally a reference to him being a f***ing retarded t**t or something similar for the same sort of thing.

Shola doesnt make mistakes though like other players do, his errors are generally because he cant be arsed to actually try. He has to be one of the laziest twats in the League nevermind the club.

Shola makes errors because he's fucking shite. there's no other reason to it.

Is it just me or is Shola, yet again, playing with an injury? He's done this before when he virtually single handedly kept us in the division a couple of years back. Not the greatest player,no. But its more an indication of our piss poor squad and inability to attract better players rather than a reflection on the lad himself that he was offered a new contract and is getting a game now. He'd struggle to get in if we had Oba, Owen and Viduka all fit at the same time but thats highly unlikely to happen so he's just about adequate as a back up striker. And the crowd needs to get off his back, the lads obviously playing whilst half fit and must think we're all twats if we cant fuckin see it, because you can be sure he knows due to the crowds reaction every time he misplaces a pass. Sometimes we dont help ourselves, or the players very much

  7. I don't know how accurate the book "The Damned United" was but it is a great read. It tells the story of Clough's 44 days at Leeds, but it does this in the narrative by telling the story of him at Derby County in parrallel. If you want to know what football was like in the 70s I'd thoroughly reccommend it. Looking forward to the film later this year.

I always thought Nigel wouldnt be daft enough to take a job at Derby or Forest, but after it was announced tonight I realised that he's more than likely a Derby County fan, as the family home was there. Good luck to him.

  8. Keith sounds like a good bloke with the right idea to me.

I can assure you mate Keith is a good bloke. He's done more for the supporters of NUFC than anyone else I know or have heard of in the last 30 years.

He'll get a ban from SJP when it goes to court and from every other football ground in Britain. He's been going to SJP for 47 years, That is a fuckin tragedy.

Anyone who used his buses regularly will know or will have heard of "John the Chap".......well he's in the same boat. He was in one of the "wanted" jpegs in the Chronicle before christmas for bother at the mackems game....... someone grassed him up and now he's in court next week.

There should be some sort of dividing line in the courts between organised football hooliganism and ordinary decent fans who, totally out of character, get out of line in some way.

    Good luck lads.

  9. Slightly O/T but I see Parker has been linked with a £10m+ to Man City. Hughes must be trying for the sack if he's his choice. That said, I thought the criticism for Paker was way OTT by the time he left (in much the same way as the praise was when he first arrived). Either way he'd walk into the side now. I'd take him over Ferguson too.

A bit like how Speed was hounded out.

I always liked Parker, I know he wasn't an all round midfielder, but I thought that he never had the right pairing up here-Butt and/or Emre.

No...not for me.....Parker fucked with us in the East Stand "Chosen Few Crew"........if he shows his face at SJP again we'll pop a cap in the cockney twats ass :(

Seriously, looking at the dross we have now, Parker looks like fuckin Zico :)

  10. Rangers and Celtic fans seem to think that they have a divine right to success and this would carry over into the Prem. There is nothing to suggest this would be the case, and the most likely outcome would be mid-table mediocrity.

The money the Old Firm would generate from our world wide fanbase would be massive, rangers would be more interesting for a investment, we would be able to attract the right type of players because its hard to convince a player to play in the spl, you get about £2 mill for winning the Spl and you get £30 mill for getting relegated from the Epl its very hard to compete with that. Rangers and Celtic would be challenging top 4 in about 5-7 years

That would depend on you getting out of the Arngrove Northern League, where Scottish teams looking for a good standard of football usually play......Gretna and if I'm not mistaken Annan have both played in it.........you could start a bitter rivalry with West Allotment CELTIC.......I imagine the likes of you would enjoy that :(

  11. Has anything Kinnear has said so far happened btw?

"He won't be leaving - he has no interest in that whatsoever. He loves the football club.

"He's part of the city and that suits us because he's a world-class goalkeeper. He's very happy here, he's very comfortable at Newcastle United."

    chemicalali.jpg

  12. It's a case of damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If they get rid of Owen now and get a replacement in whether it's Suazo or whoever then that will be wrong, yet if they don't and he walks away at the end of the season for nothing (that most fans think he will do anyway) then that will be wrong too.

Perhaps if the club had followed KK's advice and got it sorted out last spring we wouldn't be in this situation?.......oh well...... :icon_lol:

  13. As for Fop's question, I don't know what he's going to spend and i don't really care either as long as he brings in another player or two of the quality of Bassong, Jonas and Coloccini, but then again I'm more interested in the quality of player rather than being appeased by spending money.

Surely if you've being paying attention to what's been said, and believe what's been said, you should have an idea.

Closer to £20m or £0 then?

As for 1-2, I'm not really sure that 1-2 of Robinho quality would be enough. Keegan said at the end of the summer transfer season that he wanted another 2-4 in to avoid the sort of situation we have now..... can it be that the utterly clueless and bumbling Kevin "tactically naive" Keegan actually got something right?

Whilst we desperately do need quality we also need a decent squad and cover, something that seems to have passed Ashley, Wise, Lambrusco, yourself and company by, only Keegan and Kinnear seem to have twigged. :icon_lol:

I do understand that it is harder to bring players in in Janaury though.

It was hard enough in the summer. :icon_lol:

Keegan said last Summer he wanted 3 players before we even bought anyone, seems like he's as inconsistent as Kinnear for what he says to the media.

As for 2 players of Robinho's quality, now you're just being daft. Perhaps you could tell me the last window when we brought in 3 players who have been the quality of Jonas, Coloccini and Bassong? Or are you one of these people who are appeased by how much we spend rather than the quality of the player?

Aye and look where they've got us in the table.

They're ok as players, I've no real complaints to be honest. Its just that the major surgery that needed to be carried out last summer to prevent another flirt with relegation this season was baulked at by Ashley who decided a better policy would be to sit idly by and let Wise and Llambias drive the manager out of the club and now surprise surprise we're two points off the drop zone in the tightest league table for years where just a tiny piece of consistancy can get you out of trouble and into contention for Europe e.g. Wigan.

Yesterday some rather worrying looking pigieons came home to roost the chief one being if Bassong was to get a long term injury we'd be somewhere up a creek without a paddle. And seeing as this is Ashley's fourth transfer window since he came to the club and we're still complete fuckin crap on the pitch surely you can't blame some of us for being a tad concerned as to who will be coming in and who will be going out? He doesn't want "unrealistic" signings for big money?.....well lets see how real the fizzy pop league will feel to him next season......

  14. Why do many continue to post about that we will sign duds for peanuts?

I am no Ashley fanboy but why are you so sure he will invest nowt and that it will be shite players? Colo, Guti, Bassong and Guthrie (for the money paid for him) have all been good signings so far. Admittedly Xisco and Speedy were panic buys (though I would still give Xisco a chance as he came with a semi-decent reputation). If Ashley etc bring in players that are of the same standard as Bassong, Colo and Guti I couldnt care if it cost them 2 million or 20 million tbh..

Talking about this today. I genuinely dont get all the stick thrown at Wise for anything other than being Dennis wise? Sure, he was a little prick as a footballer, but I really know fuck all else about him or what he does or doesnt do for this club. I couldnt argue to get rid of him as I dont knnow what he is or isnt to blame for. Our chairman is another matter, I hold him responsible for communicating with the fans (Llambias) and at the moment that side of the club is amongst the worse I can remember. Half of the problems come out of the way things are or arent communicated from the club.

Agree with both of these posts.

So do I to an extent but have you looked at the league table? it gives the lie to the myth that Wise/Jiminez have made "good" signings...they have made signings to make us continue to tread water, to keep running to stand still. I was in the San Siro a few years ago with a centre back pairing of Titus Bramble and Andy O'Brein.Go Figure.

  15. Regans fuckin cow of a mother has used Gazza as a cash cow since the the moment she clapped eyes on him and this is just the latest installment. I'm not condoning Gazza beating her up in any way shape of form. The tabloid press and the section of society obsessed with celebrity have created the situation where she can just keep milking him/his situation until he is in his grave and no doubt for decades afterwards. Hope she's happy with her part in his downfall because she's played a leading role. Allowing their son to say this shite in public is beyond beleif....and all for money.

  16. Can I ask why you're singling him out again Parky? Especially when they were far worse players on the pitch for us yet again today.

I'm just growing tired of his feigning to decieve tricks. I pick on him also cause he's half decent. I given up with most of the others. :)

It seems a bit sad singling out one of the positives to come out of the season for me.

    I agree.

I want him to stay up the pitch save his energy and do the things we need rather than playing the Ian Botham role

Shafting dusky carribean models so hard the bed breaks and smoking more ganja than a Bob Marley tribute act?........no wonder he's been shite in the last two games.........

  17. 3 points between Bolton in 10th and Stoke in 18th, a relegation spot, as it stands we're on 22, a princely 2 points above Stoke..........thats what gets me. The league is so mind numbmingly average this year. I think it could've been all different if we'd avoided the unpleasantness in September and bought KK a leftback and another midfileder. The thing is about being "average" and "mid table" this season is that its all far too close to the drop zone for comfort. Wigan move up to 8th, realistically thinking of Europe on todays evidence, a mere 5 points ahead of Stoke in the drop zone.

This season has been a huge missed oppotunity, the way most teams are playing we could've really kicked on under KK and built on our good finish to last season/good start to this one.....but we've shot ourselves in in the foot once again.

  18. Must be a good few years since we last won a game on Boxing Day, i'd settle for a point.

:o fuck me thats 20 years ago..........it snowed at half time whilst we were singing along to "real gone kid" by deacon blue..........and Rob MacDonald got the winner! :)

went to Wigan last season and I said for the first time in 30 years after that game that I wasnt going back after the cup game at Stoke and Manu at OT for which I already had tickets......but then Sam got sacked and KK came back and eventually all was right in the world....for a while anyway :outahere:

I actually fancy us more at home to Liverpool than I do at Wigan......draw for me and hope to collect 3 points v the bin dippers on Sunday

  19. Sir Bobby Robson day v Liverpool, according to NUSC:

What do you need to do? simply pass the message on to everyone you know and sign his message book here.

  20. They are genuinely the most clueless wanks of all the clubs in England in my view. It's just sheer blind stupidity. The rare time Newcastle are in Europe. We've played in the latter stages of Champions Leagues, had 3 UEFA Cup Quarter Finals in 10 years, UEFA Cup Semi Finals (when it wasn't the mickey mouse competition for mickey mouse clubs it is today) you couldn't make these deluded cunts up. As Kinnear said, As SBR said as anyone with half a clue says........well it doesn't even need saying.

The fanbase thing is the one that makes me laugh the most thoughm I genuinely think they believe it as well that's the hilarious thing, like not fucking about or looking for a bite. They're arguably the 4th best supported team in the South East.

Stevie, you really are a complete embarrassment to your fellow supporters

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...ier-League.html

survey of 2,708 football fans... wow, that is supposed to back up an argument... 2,708???

    :D

Canny sample size if done properly. The fact it's an internet poll renders it useless bollocks though.

I'd be more concerned that watching their team on TV is supposed to make them the 'best' fans. :aye:

You're right, it is a decent sample size, I'm not sure how big your fellow supporters think sample sizes are but they're never generally more than a couple of thousand, as for the watching your team on tv comment, maybe you should reread the article, it says Liverpool are the best supported club and as a side point mentions that they are also the most watched on tv, nothing to do with the point that I was making, finally, there is nothing wrong with internet surveys, it is the 21st century after all!

Surely the fact that the survey was carried out on behalf of these guys http://www.wheresthematch.com/tv/home.asp which appears to be some sort of football streaming website suggests that its the sort of armchair,sky/setanta/stream watching fan that the survey did actually ask? Do you think they went to the bother of employing market researchers to ask 2,708 folk just about to go through a turnstile which team they support?......the survey is fucking useless, the telegraph should be shot for using it.

What the article suggests is that Liverpool has the most glory hunters based on "past successes" with Manu second and Spurs third.....and we're 5th which just proves what a crock of shit it all is, because where's the glory in supporting us at the moment, either in person at the games or via a tv screen? And for that matter fuckin Spurs haven't been setting the premier league since its inception have they? based on this survey Spurs would be the third best supported team because of the acheivements of Bill Nicholson and Danny Blanchflower.......what a load of fuckin shit.

  21. Talksport reckon hes willing to go to another club for less than £80kpw on a money for goals basis

The editor of the sporting life said that on talksport, which is a bit different, and he was taking a guess, the same as any punter on here. Steve Bruce got it right, he said only if he gets a stupid ie 10 mill offer for Heskey would he consider selling Heskey in January, and aonly if he can find a decent replacement....and JFK said much the same at the weekend. I think he's ours till the summer, but after that who knows?

Steve Bruce has a chairman/owner who supports his manager and understands football as an ex pro.

World of difference between that and a fuckwit like Ashley has been so far.

    110% correct

I'd be inclined to agree with you and on the evidence Ashley has presented so far, anything could happen.Indeed,in reality the Owen "horse" may have bolted the NUFC stable months ago. But there is a contract on the table, Ashley seems to have finally realised that Owen is the best player we have and our best insurance against relegation. All of which KK told him, but there you go. No one is going to bid 10mill for Owen next month, not when he can be got for nothing in June. The club in its present financial situation will find themselves a lot better off being in the premier league next season (with or without Owen) than taking a couple of million for the player in January and being relegated, and I think even Ashley has realised that.

  22. Reagrdless of who said it it was on talksport. They have a number of different presenters who often have inside infi, doesnt mean its the opinion of talksport as a whole

He's not a talksport presenter, he was being interviewed on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show, and the bit in your post I've highlited is precisely what I was pointing out in my previous post, it certainly wasn't the opinion of talksport,it was the opinion of the editor of the sporting life. Which your first post failed to mention.Which is a bit of a contradiction, seeing as in your subsequent post you tell me that it wasnt the opinion of talksport, which I feel I had pointed out in contradiction to your first post in my first post.

hope that clears things up :P
