Choke, cough, splutter, gargle..... That should say 'Tyne and Wear' but the point remains...posting on my phone etc etc :$

Andy there are more supporters going through the turnstiles throughout each month of the season on Tyneside than there is on Merseyside. Each area has 2 premier league clubs but Merseyside has a population of around 500k to 750k more than Tyne and Wear. And Merseyside has one club with a much vaunted 'world wide fanbase'...not that it helps them fill their place that often either....;-)

Are you familiar with the saying "a cynic is someone who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing" (Oscar Wilde) No? Thats 3 of you including fat Mike and Dekka then Forget his age, ability, recent record, influence in the changing room/around the club, legs, length of contract, inside leg measurement or his nightime drinking habits..its all fuckin irrelevent to what sort of message this sends to his (former) teamates and other clubs who may be circling them. Pardew comes out of this looking like Ashley has his hand up his arse and is fuckin operating him. Someone said a lot of managers would walk over this and thats spot on. Not this one though, who knew he'd never get the chance to manage a club as big as Newcastle United in his career ever again when he was offered the job and will spout mealy mouthed bullshit to cover for these fuckers as a result. Until we're in the bottom 3 at christmas when they'll sack him. How will you feel then Alan?....team matters taken out of your hands by the footballing genius who seemingly rated Alan Smith so much as a player he the useless twats name printed on his shirt. A really great captain if you ask me. One of the best I've seen at any club.

? Didnt we have him on trial when Gullit was manager?...think he warmed the bench at Bolton after that......played for Milan but injuries cut his career short I think. Anyway, thats the leading local sunday paper making two appalling mistakes in one article....I wouldnt sack Mark Douglas, I'd sack his editor for letting it go to print.

As long as theyre free that seems to be ok for them....Gosling and Ireland's fitness didn't seem to matter, and it looks like Ba's troubles in that department are seemingly unimportant too....he'll do well to play in 25 games iyam, which means we need at least one more striker in, to avoid probably half the campaign being played with Best and a mostly half fit Shola

Yeah but I went to school over the border....where there are probably half a dozen different accents all along it too...I am probably more than half English though...mums a Manc! Hawick folk speak a different language to the rest of Britain and its only 20 minutes away from Kelso where I went to school...and then Berwick and all that is only 20 minutes in the other direction where they too speak something pretty alien to most ears.I speak with a pretty typical Border's "lilt" but it's changing there even now though...my sister's kids in Kelso speak like they're from fuckin Edinburgh
-
If you go to the game you'll have to ritually trash the pub in Seahouses thats a shrine to safc on the way home...its tradition apparently! The accent is a strange one...what you've got to remember is that Berwick has been a frontier garrison town for 800 years and in the middle ages a major port...my old man did his national service in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and the regimental HQ was in Berwick. He says that evil bastards who were on the run from either Edinburgh or Newcastle had settled there over the years and mixed with those who had jumped ship from all over Europe, hard nut ex squaddies and a large local gypsy population. All of which had resulted in, in his opinion, a sort of "Liverpool" of the north, where the mix of blood is bad news. And all that must have contributed to the accent, which is porridge thick and neither one thing nor the other.

Paul Smith - Sunday Mirror He says the same here....and about Nolan...the "derisory" offer was 1.5 million....and it looks like "player of the year" Scotty cant get a move because he's 31 and on a squillion quid a week no doubt....peaks and troughs Scott, peaks and troughs... http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/transfer-...ers-future-lies

that was my immediate thought! how about "we're gonna wreck your fuckin toon,we drink ex and newcastle broon" in the under 16 section as well

Berwick upon Tweed is indeed one of the best kept secrets in the British Isles Was home last weekend and the old man picked me up at the station...I had to go to the bank so we drove into town and eneded up going over the old bridge....fuckin glorious evening, I went a bit wobbly to be honest...hairs on the back of the head came up..think I'll end up back in the Borders at some point...maybe quite soon.I take you took that piccy from the new bridge?...great shot that like. Berwick used to engender different feelings on Saturday evenings after games...sometimes used to have fight our way off the train....I think mackems must have outnumbered mags in Berwick 3-1 in the 80s...probably different now like after KK and the 90s etc.. someone told me it was in some way a hangover from the days when Durham Cathedral ruled everything from North Yorkshire almost up to Edinburgh..dont know if thats true, but the Borough of Berwick itself didnt start till the middle arch of the old bridge up until the late 1800s, and the church basically ran the rest of North Northumberland...

Aye. Pulitzer in the post to Walkerville as we speak Used to know Jensen wen he first started doing/selling The Mag and he seemed a good lad.....not seen him years though and from what I've read on here about him and the supporters club/trust it seems its all gone tho his head a bit. Havent read any of them in years tbh, as CT says t'internet has in a way superceded the fanzines, which is a shame in a way as they were truly a huge breath of fresh air in the 80s when as you say coverage was a bit thin on the ground. One of the Mag's writers Billy Furious has written a couple of good books, the one about the 93 promotion season is excellent.

Agree 100% with you. Its baffling that more people can't see it! We should be competing with the likes of Liverpool and Spurs, not selling our best players to them or anyone else who offers enough money. Liverpool sold Torres in the same window, Spurs sold Berbatov & Keane, Man-u sold Ronoldo, Arsenal sold pretty much everyone. So how exactly are we differing? They back their managers. Spurs and Liverpool both had DoF's when those deals were brokered, which is the complete opposite of backing the manager. Coincidentally it was Damien Comolli at both clubs and he has a nasty habbit of ignoring the squad needs. Spurs needed a defensive midfielder and he bought a Bent (when the had Berbatov, Keane & Defoe) and Bentley (when they had Lennon), it seems at the Liverpool they have no left back and a lack of pacey wingers, so he's signed "Hendo" and is still after Adam. Commoli also left Redknapp a champions league qualifying squad because he knew how to invest the money he got for their best players properly. Stealing Modric from under our noses (dont know if were just used to get Spurs to take notice but it hs to be noted that our dof at the time was one Mr D. Wise Esq) was part of that rebuilding. Graham Carr seems to be the key man at NUFC, and his record seems quite good but with the goons above him seemingly unwilling to pay anyone more than about 30k a week then the chances of getting anywhere near what the largely Comolli recruited Spurs side have done in the last 3 years are pretty fuckin remote. But obviously time will tell, as will what happens at Liverpool this season.Something tells me though we'll be at least 10 points behind both clubs come May 2012 and for a club witharound 10k more fans watching us every home game than both Spurs and Liverpool thats fuckin sad.

You can see the Great Wall of China from space....like fuck can you Oh and the Marc Almond legend....its still getting told to wide eyed and no doubt revolted teenagers to this day...I remember being told about it nearly 30 years ago or so but I bet some of the young un's on here have heard it too....

Looks a little bit like Lerner has "done an Ashley"....realised just how much money it takes to make a football club competitive at the top level and said "naaahhh"....Martinez comes over as a smart guy, but with the players that are likely to leave this is Villa massively lowering their horizons and no doubt their overdraft.
-
If we've got up to half a dozen (a majority possibly French/continental) players with no previous premier league experiance in January then survival will be a fuckin miracle. I had a horiffic thought a few weeks ago but have kept it to myself so's not to tempt fate but with all the usual suspects being earmarked for a move it crossed my mind that Collocini could be just the sort Arsenal are looking for.... he's done 3 seasons in English football, comfortable on the ball, and he's better than anything theyve got, bar possibly Vermaelen.

I went to Hyena's on Friday night as part of a stag do pacakage....they seemed to have a strict "no mobiles/no talking during acts/ no heckling policy...to be fair its a few years since I've been to any comedy club but is this the way most have gone? ....the compare was a complete knob end who was about as funny as a dose of the crabs (single syllable name, southerner, fancied himself as some sort of modern day hippy) The first act was probably pretty good but he talked in broad Glaswegian, which led to the mainly southern English crowd starting to talk among themsleves, which then led to two lads getting fuckin ejected! I couldnt beleive it...he had a single syllable name too, big bloke with a beard. The last act was apparently quite funny to most of the crowd, making rude words and nosies from various "speak and spell" type childrens toys...he was funny apart from that actually, biggish bald bloke. Sorry about not having any nmaes, Friday night was a long time and much alcohol ago

Is Michael Owen an Agent of Evil?
PaddockLad replied to Ayatollah Hermione's topic in Newcastle Forum
Good post. Might have to look that book out. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Father-Other-Worki...s/dp/0224072676 I know Leazes got it a while ago, don't know what he thought but if you're in any way a bit of a traditionalist Doc you'll probably enjoy it. One of the best books I've ever read, on any subject. -

All the old pros from the last 50 years who had as much or even more talent and who are living on fuck all or having to talk cobblers to the media to get by will probably fuckin cry if they see that comment. I've mentioned Gary Imlach's book about his old man's football career before and theres a relevent passage in it when Imlach senior signs for 3rd division Crystal Palace in the early sixties, after world cups and FA cup finals earlier in his career. A local reporter asks him if he feels its a bit of a comedown to sign for lowly Palace and the player doesn't understand the premise of the enquiry: "Stupid bloody question!"...."if you have the oppurtunity to play and the ability to play, then why wouldnt you play?" This from a player who was willing to go on strike a few years earlier to get the maximum wage (£20 a week in the season, less in the summer) abolished, which the likes of Owen have benefited from in an incredible way, the fuckin spoilt bastard. -
Fuck Clarkie and fuck his dirty cheating mackem cretin Kilbane

I do agree but they're as capable of getting results as any Man Utd team, they're just not as easy on the eye. Also following on from your point I'd say that it sums the state of world football up presently, that this Barcelona team are being described as the greatest team ever by the clueless masses. no way are they as good as the Ajax team of the early 70's Was thinking about this last night.....3 champions league wins in 5 years for Barca, next year they must be pretty well odds on to make it 4 in 6....I sort of agree with you, but Barca must be up there with them. There was an article in some paper last week with a former player of Manu saying they could hurt Barca in the air from corners.....so Barca didn't concede any! That sort of ability is the mark of a truly exceptional side, who are more than living up to all the hype.

4 million for a 29 year old in the last year of his contract from a club in a distinctly worse financial situation than us? If Moyes goes to Villa Everton are nowt more than a championship side. Karl Henry?...better off with his brother Lenny. Tranquillo Barnetta?...... fuckin hell think I'll go back to bed...

Why do the outer suburbs of Liverpool certainly appear to be completely boarded up? I'm an away season ticket holder and sadly there is nowhere else to compare to that depressing spectacle in any other major city we have visisted in the last few seasons...and it seems that its been that way in Liverpool for years tbh. I understand urban regeneration and its gone on in other major cities for the last 3 decades, but why are there huge swathes of your city condemned in the 21st century?

Very sad indeed..always wanted to see him live. His old man played for Celtic in the 50s.
