He's forgotten more about football than you'll ever know, and don't you forget it

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/359740 Interesting pre match comments......Pardew is starting to blame Europe for being shite in the league “I would like to see it go back to a knockout competition. “You only have to look at the other two English clubs in the competition this season, Tottenham and Liverpool, and we’re all having very similar seasons at the moment. “They are stronger clubs than us financially so it just goes to show that it does have a big impact on your league situations.” With Newcastle now below mid-table in the league, following home defeats against West Ham and Swansea, Pardew admitted he was warned his side’s form could suffer from all these exertions on the Continent. I would like to see it go back to a knockout competition Alan Pardew He said: “You want to be in a competition which gives you some sort of fighting chance back in your home league. But this format is very difficult for Premier League teams. “We all know that, as Premier League managers. It is whispered about all the time, with people saying, ‘Blimey, it’s going to be tough for you next season’. That is all I heard during the summer; and it has been true.”

Last time they didnt is when we finsihed 2nd in 97...or was it 98?...we beat them at their place 1 nowt in the April, Robbie Eliiot scored...
-
Wenger offered to replay the game and Arsenal still went through. Was that the year we beat Sheffield Utd in the semi?... Would any disciplinary action come under "unsporting behaviour"?...

Most likely not because I think the way Ashley goes about it this sort of thing there is always a chance this will happen. We've already been relegated under him with the most expensive squad in history, and we had 4 coaches that year. For the budget last season we overacheived massively. Cabaye for 4 mill underpriced him by 6 million. If the likes of him get his head turned by a club offering a more attractive package than whats on offer here and you fail to take account of it (i.e. bringing their replacements in while theyre still at the club) then doing it this way is a very tricky game. Changing the coach isnt going to make the players who are feeling sorry for themselves play better if their minds are made up and, its down to Ashley to take account of that. I think we'll see a couple of players leave, one of Ba or Cisse most likely, which will free the other one to play in the 433. Fair chance Cabaye's off, too many clubs making eyes at him for him to resist. Thing is, we'll only bring in like for like, no extras. Sell to buy. We're away at manu and Arsenal over christmas so I agree, we're in a dodgy old posistion if things dont pick up before then. So 11 points from the next 5 league games is what we really need. Beat Southampton, Wigan and QPR, draws at Fulham and Stoke. Should be easy on paper, but Ipswich got in the UEFA cup in 2000 by finishing 5th and were relegated 12 months later so it can happen. I think we'll wheel and deal in January and try to solve our problems that way though. You seem to be concerened at the quality of football on offer most though. You're ignoring the history of the club there though when for 90% of the time the fans have given unbeleiveable support to some fuckin awful sides and some equally bad managers. Allardyce got a standing ovation at Stoke from us, 2 days before he was sacked. You dont see this though,(allagedly) sat in an igloo playing Football Manager. Its a lot more complicated than "sack him hes shit".

Pardew wasnt playing Ben Arfa this time last year. He played v Brighton in the cup in January and was the worst player at any level of football in East and West Sussex that day. He was in and out of the side and it wasnt till the spring that Pardew got the best out of him. 3. The best players who we relied upon last year have been either injured, suspended, or had their heads turned and cant be arsed this season. Or in some cases all 3 at the same time (Tiote) 5th place last season buys Pardew time to sort the obvious problems we have this season. All the fake whingeing in the world wont change that.
-
Good opinions. Still doenst alter the fact that none of them would work for Ashley. Now, if Pardew (5th place last season, above Jol and Martinez) is not good enough, name someone who is and would galdly work for Ashley. Come on cocknose, all this fake whingeing has got to lead somwhere, or your masterplan for success at NUFC is doomed to failure. Lets hear who would leave their club and work for the (in)famous Mike Ashley....
-
Jol: Given millions to spend at Spurs, did ok, Europe most seasons. Would he get that finance at NUFC without having to sell?...you can bet your life that Ashley expected to seel Tiote and Ba last summer. Thats the main reason we didnt get anyone bar Anita. Martinez: got a bigger budget than Pardew, can just about keep Wigan in the division. Redknapp: already turned Ashley down 4 years ago, tactically shite. anyone else?.....anyone who would actually be willing to work for Ashley?...
-
No, you want him gone now. Who would you like as his replacement?
-
Who are we getting in as Pardew's replacement then lbt?....lets hear your short list.....
-
No Lampard or Terry last night, Drogba in China. All 3 Irreplaceable iyam. As for those who were brought in in an attempt to do so, how many did RDM get a say in? who was manager when Abramovich bought Shevchenko and Torres in over the managers' heads? seeing as the man who prepares and picks the side has no real say on who his players are likely to be at pre season training its a miracle these fuckers have won as much over the last decade.

Plastic manc banwagon jumper turned Olympic hero's ancestor turns out to be one of our all time greats... For Rutherford, it will be an opportunity to shine on his great-grandfather's home turf. Jock Rutherford was a right-winger who became known as "the Newcastle flyer". He won three championship titles and appeared in five FA Cup finals for Newcastle, won 11 England caps and played in the old First Division for Arsenal at the age of 41. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/athletics/rutherford-plants-new-roots-in-arizona-8336270.html

Wullie S, and those who wrote the King James Bible, are largely responsible for the move from middle to modern English. Chaucer wrote the Canterbury tales only 100 years or so before Shakespeare and its like a different language. 1000s of phrases from the Bible became commonplace when every church in the country got one.
-
Thats ok, I agree. Its been shit. Dont see anything changing fast though...thats Mike for you

Not when you were cheerleader in fuckin chief for the entire regime last season you can't. Well, you can, but you'll run the risk of looking like a flip flopping, inconsistant whiner. And who wants to come across like that?

I read in a book that reason Mexicans call Americans "Gringos" is due to the Scottish Marching song "Green grow the rashes O!" which was the marching song of detatchments of Scottish mercenries during the Mexican War of independance. The Mexicans heard the jocks singing it and started to call their opponents on the battlefield "Gringos", and that eventually became the term for all Americans. Which is a great story. And apparently its bollocks too!
