  1. Could the situation be worse than selling Carroll and bringing in Shefki Kuqi? Am on about selling him for daft money and bringing in a young un to replace him...under those circumstances I think its good business.
  2. Chas and Dave, chirpy cockney-lite knees up good times or astonishingly cliched earshite?
  3. So you're sure no one will leave? I must admit I'm encouraged by us keeping hold of Ba as far as squad depth goes, I still think we should sell him as it would be good to bring in good money for him now rather than wait a year and possibly see his price go down in direct proportion to his knee flaring up. As far as anyone else Its down to what offers come in....and if we've signed two and want another midfileder then it may indicate more leaving along with Guthrie. I'm concerned about how a relatively finanacially poor Europa campaign will affect our league form...I'd have rather missed out and gone all out for the top 4 this season. But we'll see. Sir Bob's euro-novices in 02/03 didnt lose a game after a european game and iirc they won nearly all of them. Am optimistic and looking forward to the season
  4. Yeah but where does Anita fit in? Guthries replacement maybe? Amatifano and Bigi are cheap-ish punts, see how they go sort of thing....Anita has played for Holland, he's an established player at Ajax...
  5. Think we can put all that down to the twinkle in Pardew's eye....she's got a wide on like the Tyne Tunnel for him
  6. Aye, Squidward off to Swansea perhaps?....7mill euros for Anita is a good price if we get him at that....but signing Bigi as well, who in the flesh is like a Tiote "minime"....hmmmm.....
  7. So...we sign Bigi and Amaltifano and we're plainly interested in Anita, midfielders all... Think I'll leave it at that
  8. Is this character for real?....if he is, what must it be like to either live or work with?...
  9. Gaby couldve had me if shed wanted something from over the border AND a Newcastle supporter....she ended up with that egg chasing latent bufty boy Logan...... reckon Shearer was soiling her?...an improvement, but honestly..it shoulda been me
  10. 24th Oct according to bbc....it would be fuckin lovely there next week, midnight sun and that...pricey though I expect.
  11. One of the great euro trips Mallorca like..Keith Barratt chartered 2 jumbos to get fans there...we saw a bloke singing in a bar one night who bore an uncanny resemblance to an ex boro scots/irish media slaver-mechant...cue endless choruses of "theres only one Bernie Slaven" from around 150 or so mags for about 10 minutes until he gave up and fucked off I'd forgotten about the rubber chiken...good times
  12. what is it you do?...is the tkd at the olympics different to normal tkd then?...is it like the boxing i.e. a lot more protection?...
  13. Is that the Leeds lass who won the boxing?
  14. Got to agree last night was fuckin epic....It was the greatest half mile race of all time. Rudisha breaks a huge barrier to get below 1min 41, but the thing is the GB lad Andrew Osagie ran 1-43.77 and finsihed in last place...that time would have won him gold at Beijing only 4 years ago. The lass from Leeds who won the boxing produced one of the great Olympic gold medal displays...she demolished the Chinese girl. Never seen tae kwon do before but it looks a great martial art to actually watch, the scoring seems to be very fast and can change quickly, lots of flying kicks to the head etc...to be fair, she'd get it too, which am sure is the forefront of her thinking this morning...."wonder what faceless internet tosspots want to shag me now I won a gold..."
  15. Never a truer word spoken old son.... http://www.oyyy.co.uk/product.php/168802/samsung-series-3-300e7a-173-inch-notebook-core-i5-2450m-25ghz-4gb-500gb-dvd-sm-dl-wlan-bt-webcam-windows-7-hp-64-bit-intel-hd-graphics?utm_source=affwin&utm_medium=aff&utm_campaign=General&awc=3136_1344583568_8060fca0967d6aae3b62c55d56cdcd90 Anybody used this website?....got to say it looks dodgy as fuck to me...price is good though, am gonna save £125 quid on what I'd have paid for the Sony Vaio....if the money doesnt go to Nigeria or Kazakstan or somewhere...how can I check if that site is genuine?
  16. 2012/13: Friday D-Day Here's the official notification from UEFA of the Europa League Fourth Qualifying Round draw, scheduled to take place in Nyon, Switzerland tomorrow (Friday) at 1.30pm Central European Time (12.30pm BST): For the play-offs, the third qualifying round winners join the 15* losing sides from the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and further teams who begin their European campaigns here. The clubs are divided into seven groups for the draw. Within the groups, an equal number of sides are seeded and unseeded in accordance with the club rankings established at the beginning of the season. Teams from the same association cannot play each other. For each group, balls containing the seeded sides are placed in one bowl and balls containing unseeded teams in another. A ball is taken from each bowl and placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, where they are shuffled. The first club drawn plays the first leg at home. (NB: be aware that draws can be reversed due to various circumstances though, such as avoiding the staging of two ties in the same city or location). * there are 28 teams in the Champions League (listed below), which makes 14 winners in our eyes, not 15. Fourth Qualifying Round tie dates: Wed 22.08 or Thu 23.08.2012 1st Leg Wed 29.08 or Thu 30.08.2012 2nd Leg The 18 sides - plus Newcastle United - who begin their Europa League Campaign at this point: (Teams written in grey italicised type are seeded and therefore cannot be drawn against us - assuming we maintain our seeding...) 17. Aye, hes all apolgies now...nevermind eh?
  18. I just noticed it was that outrageous internet warrior Ajax Andy who pissed him off this time
  19. I bet Cabaye's heard the saying "when the grown ups are talking, dont interrupt" more than once
  20. this is what the politicians thought of Liverpool as a city just as the team was winning its 3rd European Cup.... London has a Conservative mayor who famously accused Liverpool of displaying a ‘deeply unattractive psyche’, and even of ‘wallowing in its victim status’. But as a cockney myself, I reckon scousers can be forgiven for feeling that little bit chippy. Nor is Boris Johnson’s attitude any novelty within his party, as is demonstrated by today’s revelation that back in 1981, top Tories Geoffrey Howe and Sir Keith Joseph advised Margaret Thatcher to abandon that beastly city altogether. Howe actually employed the expression ‘managed decline’, before duplicitously warning everyone else against using such a scandalous locution in the public’s earshot. Thanks to the 30 year rule, the gaffe is now public. Be sure your sin will find you out. http://liberalconspiracy.org/2011/12/30/what-exactly-is-londons-problem-with-liverpool/ Thatcher then used The Sun as a stick to beat the city and its inhabitants with. Possibly because of the much mentioned Irish/Welsh "bad blood" spirit, they gave a massive "fuck you" back to her and the rest of the country. Anyone who is interested in social history and hasnt seen the "Boys from the Blackstuff" by Alan Bleasdale should give it a look. Its pretty much all there.
  21. Scousers and Jocks ran the south coast drugs trade in the 90s as far as I could make out.The likes of Bournemouth and Torquay were riddled with scousers, and now in the 21st century theres a nasty firm of ex UDA henchmen and strangely, a team from Jarrow running the show here in Dorset. Nasty fuckers all.
  22. The media have been on Liverpools back for the best part of 30 years as far s I can make out; before Hillsborough he Murdoch press annhilated the City of Liverpool and its council for daring to defy the Thatcher government over rate capping in the run up to the introduction to the poll tax. Derek Hatton, the leader, was held up as a pariah for the whole nation to mock. Then, for obvious reasons, that stopped after 89. But Thatcher's spawn eventually stuck the knife in as well: In 2004, Boris Johnson was ordered by the then Tory leader Michael Howard to go to Liverpool and apologise for an article in The Spectator which accused the city of "wallowing" in its "victim status". He said Liverpudlians made a scapegoat of police in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster, refusing to acknowledge the part played "by drunken fans at the back of the crowd who mindlessly tried to fight their way into the ground". The article, on 16 October, said people in Liverpool "cannot accept that they might have made any contribution to their misfortunes, but seek rather to blame someone else for it, thereby deepening their sense of shared tribal grievance about the rest of society". The man that said that wants to be the next prime minister, neglecting to add that Lord Justice Taylor, if he were still alive, would say "bollocks" to it. And he'd also have the evidence to prove it. After that was published it was open season for those who only see what they want to see. Anyone can say what they want, but theres two sides to everything. HF made a glib remark, which I certainly didnt take offence to, but at the same time it comes from somewhere. Its difficult to tell on here at times whats a wind up and whats a sincerely held view, HF was having a crack, but some seem to go a bit OTT on this. Thats what get my goat.
  23. Correct mate. A family wedding is like a bad episode of Shameless I just dont think theres hardly any differences at all in people. Theres good and bad in everyone....weve got learn to live, learn to give each other, what we need to survive, together alive
  24. The trouble with that is, the past informs the present. The country didnt wake up suddenly and decide all scousers are vermin, feral scum, something has planted the idea in the first place. Judge an entire city on the actions of a few if you must, but if its just to prove you've got the loudest voice in the pub its a poor show. I work with dozens of scousers every day, and theyre no better and no worse than anyone else. And they certainly dont consider themselves to be victims. But I'm sure youve heard some in the media who do, and will judge the rest accordingly. People are easily lead, and the media do most of the leading in this country.. I've no connection whatsover with the city, I just think all cities are much the same. Youve got an agenda to paint Newcastle as the greatest place under the sun, and whilst am inordinately fond of the place myself, I can see theres nothing new under the sun. You can belligerantly try to cow people into agreeing with you all you want, it doesnt change the fact that all cities have all the same social problems. You can point bad things scousers have done, anyone can point to Mary Bell and Raoull Moat. It means fuck all in the big scheme of things.
  25. Because people like to generalise about the lowest common denominator?...its a bit like saying you like killing kids because you're from the same city as Mary Bell. Thats fuckin bollocks obviously. But its about as logical as saying all scousers are theives, the football fans are murderers etc etc.. It comes from their own "thrawn" independant and deeply militant attitude, iyam. For this they were completly vilified in the press in the 80s, the place was bankrupt, no one had a job....but they had the best football side in Europe. Then Heysel happened, then Hillsborough, then Jamie Bulger... only one of them can be attributed to a tiny minority of one group as far as blame goes, and the state of the stadium wouldve made sure that any gang who wanted to have a go wouldve had largley the same "result"...lets face it, Liverpool didnt have the same reputation as Chelsea,West Ham,Leeds and numerous others at the time for hooliganism. Anyone wanting to gobshite off in general terms about anything will eventually repeat the bollocks you (and a lot of Tory's, morning Boris) usually roll out about Liverpool, with the seed planted in their minds by a press industry with an agenda, which amounts to a basic willingness to demonise everyone, even whole cities, if it will sell a newspaper. Theyre no angels, thats for sure. But show me any city that has model citizens and I'll show you never never land.
