  1. Well yeah we could get a better coach in, but Ashley likes someone who "owes" him and if they dont jump to his tune and accept decade long contracts in lieu of a shorter but better paid one, there may be problems. The list of better coaches than Pardew willing to accept this is short I imagine. And more than likely not English. It could work. But I'd be very wary. The other thing as you say is Pardew's role....he's the coach, part of the recruitment "team" but nowhere near the head of it. He's part of how a modern football club is set up. My mates dad has just retired from being Facilities Manager at St Mary's for Southampton FC. He says Adkins was seen as being on the same level as him, another "middle manager". For me, it looks like Ashley likes a similar set up.
  2. And CT certainly didnt mention that the complete and uttter football genius that is Mike Ashley actually continues to employ a certain Mr A. Pardew....so everything in CT's NUFC garden isnt as rosey as he's painting it...he wants to break the most important relationship at the football club. We are where we are, and we'll be this sort of club for as long as Ashley is in charge. Unless FFP somehow magically cripples the 3 wealthiest clubs we'll be very fortunate indeed to win anything. We can challenge for the top 4 regularly if Graham Carr keeps on delvering the goods player wise. Am happy enough with that, but am fucked if I'm going to give Ashley any credit for it. Trotting along like this is the bare minimum we should expect. Competence doesnt = genius.
  3. Who's better who would work for the money Pardew is on though?...
  4. Why this week in particular?...end of the tax year?...are the latest set of books being made public?...
  5. Been away this weekend, just seen that don't know if its enough to stop him being the next tory leader....we're getting more and more Americanised in politics so Boris may just seen as our George Bush junior... a laughably stupid establishment placeman with next to no power but nominally running the country,
  6. Micky Flanagan tonight at the BIC....a lot, lot better than I was expecting... if the (tbf, entirely genuine) cockney wide boy persona doesn't grate too much hes a good story teller and "funny in between jokes", good crack tbh.
  7. Look at Cisse's goals from last season and tell me he can't score all sorts of goals. That he hasn't done it as frequently as he did for 7 weeks last season is neither here nor there. He posseses that ability.
  8. Put yourself in Taylor's shoes...would you be happy with a 34 year old with 26 caps playing out of posistion in your place, against a bunch of part timers, on what could be your first cap? Smalling and Lescott, ok theyre both centre backs not a lot he can say. But starting a midfielder in there?
  9. These posts get to the heart of the heart of the matter. The FA think theyre being consistent, but applying a bit of logic and common sense to the thing and it is for all the world to see a fuckin ludicrous situation.
  10. pick the bones out of that on google CT!
  11. The penalty for the tackle (i.e. "serious foul play" in the rule book) is a 3 game ban. See Shawcross on Ramsey.
  12. Thats a no then Stop putting words into my mouth CT. I've never made any claims on behalf of any government. You're the one making these claims then googling to see if theres anything to back them up.
  13. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/mar/19/england-michael-carrick-defence-san-marino Theyre going to play Carrick at centre back according to this Taylor cant handle the sub conference standard attack of San Marino then? What is the fuckin point of calling him up if you're to humiliate the bloke by doing this?
  14. Thats trotted out a lot by the Tories. Any independent figures to back it up?
  15. Play was stopped at the moment of the offence. ~Thats how theyd worm their way out of that one.
  16. for example?...am not saying there are or there aren't. Apparently Balotelli on Song last season is the same as this, nowt was done because the officials missed it and play went on. This is for serious foul play, not violent conduct off the ball where it didnt affect the flow of the game.
  17. He didnt though. Gouffran blocked him, hes basically told Pardew that. The linesman is at fault. I think instead of thinking about "justice for Massido" we should think about how to stop players doing this in the first place. The FA's hands are tied by their own archaic rules.
  18. I've ran the line before and been told that but if its going on at premier league level they all want fuckin shooting...Halsey, his mate on the line and the FA.
  19. Or for red cards being recinded. Because play was waved on I think its deemed "re-refereeing" by the FA and they dont want to go down that road. Thats why theres a deafning silence on this from soho square or wherever it is they live now.
  20. This may be old but I've never seen it before...amazing what comes up looking for Michael Owen missing sitters
  21. His first half hatrick at SJP (mustve been 98/99?) got a standing ovation. He always made Dabizas look like a parks player
  22. better finisher definetly...better footballer?.....Bellamy always wanted the ball, Owen wanted chances on a plate. Fair enough with a briliant midfield behind you, not really going to happen under Souness and Roeder though.
