PSG still in the champions league.....coming off the bench in the final probably appeals. They got a very beatable Valencia in the next round. But aye, what a fuckin preening twat. Very good player in his day. Now his life is a roadshow of "look how pretty I am!!!"

Venables liked it for that reason...if youve got someone playing in the hole the spare man of the 3 could pick him up. KK played Southgate in there v Germany at Wembley in 2000. Think it was only a qualified success mind. He resigned in the showers at the end of the match. edit: if memory serves correct, Southgate was subbed at half time...

Martin O'Neil played 3 at the back at Leicester and Norwich, he was one of the biggest proponents of the system among top flight managers in this country but he hasnt used it for over a decade. Sir Alex Ferguson has never used it as far as I casn remember, and Sir Bobby only rarely, even when it was in vogue. Defending teams get mullered out wide, its easy to get the better of teams using it. But a he-she from Scandinavia thinks we should use it......lack of daylight in the winter months iyam

If you disagree with it Steie its the editor that should be getting it in the neck, its his decision ultimately what goes to print. -
Murphy didn't play non league, that's what counts him out. Kitson played for Hitchin Town, then Cambridge United, which also ties in with the book.
-
Been on night shift the last couple if weeks, have read "the secet footballer".....apparently its Dave Kitson, ex Reading and Stoke. Not a bad read, looks like he wrote the cloumn and book himself, fair play. Not a lot you didnt know/couldnt work out for yourself, and he's very opinionated, sees things exactly for what they are and knows what is important in life. Think he's blew all his money now mind and suffers from depression.

Had another think about it, spoke to some lads at work and may be going down this road now....no need for buying from the US, get a 32gig ipad2 and use a keyboard with it... http://store.apple.com/uk/product/HA500B/A/logitech-ultrathin-keyboard-cover-for-ipad?fnode=3e http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Logitech-Ultrathin-Keyboard-Cover-/321050610858?var=#vi-content Anyone use a keyboard with an ipad regularly?....and anyone know whats the best option if I want to get a sim card for 3g with an ipad?....is it best just to hook it up to your phone via wifi and use it's 3g/data plan? or should I just get an ultrabook/mac air thingy?....

Sounds like 'arrys got to his agent then

Its going to take 30 mins off journeys to Brum,Manchester and Yorkshire. Big wows. Your highly unlikely to schlep all the way out to Heathrow or Gatwick from central London atm to get a flight to Leeds anyway so what is the actual point? politicians vanity projects keeping huge engineering and building contractors happy?..you dont say?...33 billion
-
Yeah, paying a fee for a player with 5 months left on his contract is against every principle in the book as far as Ashley is concerned But he has to swallow it sometime and if hes saved a bit on some of the others then hes had to pay more for Sissoko to save us from fuckin relegation this season...why?...because he didnt strengthen in the summer!!!
-
Nah, not for me. Sissoko is the only one who's contract was about to expire and he was coming here in the summer anyway. Why would Mbiwa be worth 3-4 million more 5 months ago?...
-
Been said on here before but would us still paying much the same prices generally (and in some cases a lot less) for our season tickets in 2013 as we were in 2003 have a lot to do with the decreased income?...there again its a different world now, "austerity" etc...if they put prices up to the level of Spurs we'd maybe only be getting 35k in through the door,
-
Fuck me, 0.50 into that, I saw that volley v manu on Sportsnight with Harry Carpenter The goal v Watford too, and the volley for England just before that. thinking about it not seen many (any?) players who could volley a ball better than him.

Gazza could do more than Hoddle on a football pitch iyam. So could Peter Beardsley because theyd both graft their nuts off as well as the pretty stuff. Hoddle's trouble was he wanted to play in behind 2 strkers and not do any graft. Couldnt be logically accomodated in a 442. 53 caps says he got plenty of chances. Thats what theyd tell you, but loads of skillfull players like Hoddle have been accomodated in teams because of what they can do rather than what they cant. Didnt get a cap after the disater that was Euro 88 when England lost all 3 group games. If he played at SJP more than half a dozen times he'd be lucky...at spurs for 10 years or so 77-87, think we were in the second division for at least half of that time. I can remember him playing for Spurs clearly, but cant picture him in a game at SJP.
-
No point in begging him to stay (or suggesting he'd be financially better off if he moved in the summer) then kicking him in the bollocks by stripping him of the captaincy. That would be self defeating after getting him to stay. As I said, he's hardly the first player to try to force a move through at this time of year.

Wonder what the figures are for the whole of the league?....what percentage of revenue is broadcasting for a club like Wigan?....
-
Colo's only fuck up is with the club he wanted to join....we would have broken his contract for him if the deal was right. He's basically thrown a transfer request in so he's not entitled to get his contract paid up; so a club willing to pay 5-7 million say for a 31 year old would have had their hands taken off in NUFC's efforts to get him off their books. Players adjitating for a move are quite common tbh but the finances involved with SL always meant it was a non starter.
-
Trouble is a we need a fit, motivated Colo. Then completly fuck him over in the summer for having the temerity to try to walk out in us mid season.

Gloom is right about his passing ability being comparable to Hoddle, but its also right to say he was nowhere near as offensive, probably played 10 yards further back on the park than Hoddle which changes your passing options in general, but you've still got to find a player and that was something Bracewell almost always did, quite often seeking out Scott Sellars on the left. Lack of pace left him short of true top quality even at his peak for Everton and he had horrendous luck with injuries. Its a sign of the times that with a bit of pace he'd be marked down by the media as a future England captain if he was 21 in 2013. Look at his peer group and compare it to the paucity of talent nowadays among young English midfileders...obviously Hoddle,Bryan Robson, his teamates Kevin Richardson and Peter Reid, Paul Davis at Arsenal was another criminally underrated player, Ray Wilkins was still around and probably got his gig in Mexico in 86 as Gloom mentioned,Steve McMahon, Gazza and David Platt were beginning to come through. Not a lot of those types around nowadays.

I thought there wasn't a release date for the surface pro in this country? They're only just releasing the RT version in most of Europe next month...good point on the warranty though. The Hp envy is mentioned in the comments on the blog about battery life I linked...hmmm....

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched
PaddockLad replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
That scene was shot in a dry dock 50 yards from the office I work from at Portsmouth Dockyard. Crowe nipped out for a bike ride during a break in filming one day and was rude as fuck to everyone he met, which I quite admired in a strange way Not going to bother with the film. Musicals smchmuziacals Saw The Hobbit last night accompanied by the worst behaved cinema audience I've ever had the misfortune of being sat with. The tosser next to me discussed with his missus which tv programs the various dwarves had previously appeared in, all in his normal speaking voice. I was going to say something but I think he may have been a bit disturbed in general and didnt want to be seen to be picking on the afflicted. The noise of other people eating fucking sweets and just generally having no basic cinema ettiquette was equally bad. Bah humbug. The film wasnt as good as the other 3, but canny enough. Gollum remains one of cinema's greatest ever character creations. -
Hmm....think I may get someone going on holiday to get one for me. This is what am thinking.......the surface pro does seem a good bit of kit which wont need up grading (for my uses anyway) for a good while.

Murray loses the 2nd on a tie break after playing like a god for most of the set...then gets treated for blisters! We'll see if Murray can put it up to one of the greatest ever players now....cmon Andy!

Been reading up on it this week....its a bit of a minefield. Am not the most IT savvy character, but Mrs PL wants a purple Surface "cos they look cute in the advert" this was quite illuminating... http://www.brianmadden.com/blogs/brianmadden/archive/2013/01/24/can-intel-based-windows-8-pro-tablets-ever-come-close-to-the-low-power-and-long-batteries-of-arm-based-devices.aspx
