  1. Well no, and if we have a look at Frank Leboeuf's challenge on Shearer in the clip we can see why movement is so important, Shearers dragged him 30 yards out of posistion and allowed Lee to get into the box with one of the main defenders taken out of the game. I'm not suggesting for a minute Shola is capable of movement like that at this stage of his career, but I am suggesting theres a bit more to playing as a forward than strict posistions on a piece of paper suggests. Anyway, what do you think of Rob Lee?...will Sissoko or Cabaye ever get anywhere near as good as him?...
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=sn-b5q2wrRk Look for the brilliant "winger" bang on six minutes
  3. I hate that shite. Its embarrassing. theres also one that the young people sing that goes "weve got the best midfield in the world" and goes on to mention Marveux
  4. I think Marveux was nominally in to give width on the right v Reading tbh.. Krul Santon Debuchy Williamson Coloccini Cabaye Anita Gutierrez Marveaux Sh.Ameobi Cisse Last season was imperfect to say the least. But lets at least look at what was attempted, not what some folk imagine was in front of them. Shola wasnt solely responsible for putting Iain Harte under pressure that day, not in that system anyway. This system is supposed to be flexible, with players moving all over the place to create space for those coming up from the back such as Santon. And we all know what Shola's movement is like...and we all know how anonymous Marveux can be. He was subbed that day in the 64th minute, suggesting he hadnt really done his job. He was subbed for Perch mind
  5. He may have played on the right of a front 3, to suggest he played wide right/right wing would imply that the formation was 442. Which apparently it wasnt?...
  6. Theyre not wingers in that formation though.
  7. Apart from when Sir Bob did it fairly regularly? Yes, 10 years is a long time... anyway...Liverpool..442.. Elliot Debuchy S.Taylor Yanga-Mbiwa Haidara Perch Tiote Cabaye Sissoko Cisse Gutierrez Who played up front with Cisse then?....
  8. Downing,Sinclair,Ince.... all play wide-ish on the left? that says 442 to me, with Jonas as a squad player. Think 442 would be a backwards step tbh.
  9. Shola unused sub in that game. I remember one game where we may have eneded up with Shola in a wide posistion after a couple of substitutions but its a pretty weak thread to hang anyone with tbh. Pardew is limited to say the least but perprtuating petty myths about the bloke is unfair iyam and strolling into CT terrortory.
  10. Think a lot of those skysports characters have to work like....Merson's skint, Kenny Samson did the odd bit for them and is now apparently a homeless pisshead...
  11. Well yeah, but Salako was the regular no. 11 for them. Thats the point, looks like he's come in to cover Wrights injury. Wiki says.. Alan Pardew MF 1987–1991 170 12 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Crystal_Palace_F.C._players but who takes wiki seriously?? could have swore he was a fullback....anyway, he's defensive by nature...
  12. He scores here!!...cant see his shirt number though...am in the corner on this clip, black and white scarf, you cant miss me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h-thQMrmMY
  13. You keep saying that, so for how long did we persist with that tatic?...
  14. you did as far as I can recall look at the team sheet here, Ian Wright was injured mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azZeW4FENWg
  15. Tbf you're right. Makes me wonder how he didnt get to the WC in 86...Butcher,Alvin Martin and Terry Fenwick, he was a better footballer than fuckin the last two, thats for sure.. Fenwick probably doubled up as centre forward...
  16. Tooj you got tkts for Durham this weekend?...
  17. Big Jack..defender.. Mcfaul..goalie Jim Smith..err... Ossie...attacker par excellance.. Gullit... "total footballer" Sir Bobby..1950s Ardiles Souness.. psycho hacker Roeder..defensive lump BFCSA..ditto Hughton...fullback.. Pardew..fullback.. doesnt look like theres any conclusins to draw other than wve been managed by a lot of defenders..
  18. Thats how I see it going, but with Gouffran starting, cant see wee Hatem being fit, like, ever tbh. If we do have Cabaye sitting in more, it does release Sissoko more on the counter, which is basically how we play, very defensively. Pardew was a full back, KK was a striker..go figure..
  19. Its not how Pardew plays it though, thats the problem. He has 2 sitting in, even at home.
  20. So you dont subscribe to the reasonably common view in that yes, the players are good enough, but the manager is a fuckin clown and doesnt know what to do with them?
  21. Wtf are you two going on about? no one knows where this fucker should be playing, least of all him or his manager. What is he being adapted from/to?...or not?
  22. I take it your memory is so bad you cant remember Brighton either?...
  23. So the signing of one player is going to mean we finish approximately how many league posistions above last season's 16th? Forgive me if I'm not foaming at the mouth with excitement about the forthcoming season, but the last 3 home games of the last one are still fresh in my mind. Just 3 short months ago.
