  1. Its the model Spurs have used for a decade and its a self perpetuating thing. Sell the asset, re-invest. Theres nothing actually wrong with it, I just dont think Ashley will look to re invest as much as he should as hes looking to get his money back rather than move the playing side forward. Someone will need to explain all that to the likes of the CT...theres nowt wrong with being pissed off with selling the likes of Cabaye, but it is the financial reality at the club thats doing it rather than whether he plays 10 yards further up the pitch.
  2. Right. So thats 18million less to spend on players? "fat bastard" etc etc... I've given up being bitter about him, if he wasnt personally owed as much we would be in a far better place. Relegation in 09 was disastorous in that regard. If we stayed up would he have had to have pumped that 25 million in?
  3. It is a good post, don't get all shy now The only thing I'd add to it is "suck it up kids, this is how we roll...a feeder club for champions league sides."
  4. TV, transfers, its all revenue. I actually dont have too much of a problem with it tbh. Where did the first chunk he took come from?..can we actually see it in the books?...
  5. Agreed, thats how I see how/where he's been playing this season. I'm also told regularly that Sissoko is being played too far forward. Not for me, but I wouldnt like to second guess what goes on between a player and a manager where this sort of thing is concerend. The bit in bold: All the players Spurs have sold for big money over the years under Levy...the profits are largely re invested to keep their wage cieling at a level where champions league standard players get the going rate for their level of play. Am unsure, but I think theres a strong likelyhood that now Ashleys steadied the financial ship a lot of transfer income will start to reduce the debt the club owes him personally, something which has already started. This will consign us to mid table mediocrity at best. Don't be surprised by another relegation battle next year either. If cheap players aren't avaialable this summer to replace any outgoings then we all remember how last summer ended up...again, it needs to be stressed that many people have praised this policy. Cabaye was always, at the price we got him at, going to be sold on relatively quickly when his true worth in the market was deemed to be at hits highest. His wife let the cat out of the bag months ago as well. Move on. Hopefully Carr can come up with another one as good as he could be on his day.
  6. He was toast before the cup final. Pellegrini was linked months ago and it was all over the papers Saturday morning. Thats how it goes at these clubs and the managers know it. His chief failure has been 2 abysmal champions league campaigns. Thats whats got him the push, rightly or wrongly. Pellegrini got Malaga to the last 8 this season, in the club's debut in the competition. The only other debutants to do as well have been Villareal...their manager?...Manuel Pelllegrini. Mancini's 28 million pay off will cushion his blow as will a job at Monaco,Napoli or PSG. He didnt get any of the players he wanted last summer due to Brian Marwood being a useless mackem twat. Marwood was also sacked with a huge pay off months ago. C'est la vie at the superclubs.
  7. CT, are you claiming to know more about football than either Alan Pardew or Yohan Cabaye? I imagine Cabaye gets to play for his club where he wants to play. He's a senior player and a French international for the love of fuck. He's also never been quoted as being miserable about where he's playing in the side. Your opinon on this may well be valid, but so irrelevent to how his season has gone and whether he leaves this summer or not you may as well be talking about fire engines in Swahili. I tolerate Pardew, much as you get tolerated on here. We're sort of fuckin stuck with both of you.
  8. s This is a trick question isnt it? Shall we look in detail at Yohan's season?..... a) played all summer with no break for the first time in his career, no rest. susbsequently starts season half fit, with no real base of fitness. This leaves player reportedly "depressed". c) gets injured, out for months d) returns half fit, plays on without showing his true skill set, mainly due to a) & above, but giving his all as we're in trouble and its partly due to top players such as himself have been missing from the team due to c) e) team survives relegation f) idiot states "PARDEW RUINED HIM"
  9. Hate to tell you old son but this is how your uncle Mike has set the club up. Januarys splurge on other French talent soon to be sold for vast profit needs to be paid for first. Am surprised that you're seemingly surprised by this....
  10. I think he wants everyone to be like him...what a fun world that would be
  11. And he doesnt want you producing anymore of your fancy dan fact based analysis either
  12. On paper, or by internet/FM reputaion only. Look at whats actually happening on the pitch. Some of it down to Pardew undoubtedly. But for all the ball ache, wailing and gnashing of teeth to get him here, is Debuchy that much of an upgrade on Simpson?....on the evidence so far no. And thats all down to attitiude iyam. What the real story is of this season is unknowable to the likes of us. But if these lads are all an upgrade, then so far its fair to say that a lot of them cant stand up physically to even half an English season. After a full pre season and no Europe it may well be different of course. I fuckin well hope so, because as it stands most of them have been inconsistant to say the least. As for Ben Arfa turning up like Billy fuckin Bunter after "recuperation" in France...think Keegan would have told the little fucker to sling his hook...
  13. The releif of yesterday hasnt papered over the performances v the tramps and Liverpool. They put the tin hat on a piss poor season and wont be forgotten in a hurry, not by me anyway. If we'd have sneaked a point from them then I think there wouldnt be the clamour there is this morning. As it is hes probably got no more than 6 weeks from the start of the season. Wouldnt give a fuck if he was pumped now tbh, but when your owner has never appointed a manager who was already in a job then the pool of potential talent is very small. Ashley needs to sort that fuckin attitude out if Pardew does go at some point before the end of the year. Unless its Rafa of course?....
  14. Got to say, before the advent of FB, I was in touch with one girl in my year at school and that was it, and thats because she was my sisters best friend and still lives in the village where we all grew up and where my parents still live.Living at the opposite end of the country since 1990 hasnt help with that either. I'd neve have won a popularity poll back then (might explain the broken nose! ), so fuck knows how am now back in touch with half the school year I still sometimes get recognised, so I dont think I've changed that much, but like you say, by the time you get into your forties there can be a lot of changes..
  15. Similar thing happened to me...some prick who broke my nose at school sent 3 friend requests and was a leading figure in a reunion that was organised a few years back...theres about 3 people who i was at school with i'd love to see agin and hes not fuckin one of them so the whole thing was ignored.
  16. 2 things: 1. Did you actually expect Ashley to sack him? 2. Why aren't you slaughtering Ashley for failing to do so?
  17. Oh noes! http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alan-pardew-told-job-safe-3661404
  18. I love European football but in a football world where cash is king this is spot on. We'd have been better off selling 2 players for a combined 20-30 million, replacing them with the usual Carr "young, cheap, probably French, half decent" characters and banking the rest. Instead Ashley did the square root of fuck all to prepare for the Europa league, bar crossing his fingers.
  19. The scouse mackems fuckin hate him like..."Rafael Beneath-us" they called him his er "interesting" season at Chelsea shows that he doesnt give a fuck about what the fans think and has the hide of a rhino, so Everton isnt beyond the realms of possiblity, am presuming his family still live in the north west?..
  20. heres the .com match report old son... http://www.nufc.com/2012-13html/2013-01-19reading-h.html looking at that, and having had this argument with various poeple yesterday, and having mentioned it myself on here before, I think its fair to say that theres some confusion over tactics in general. Ameobi either played one side of Cisse in a front 3, or according to you(?) out wide in a 4 man midfield, presumably with Marveux further forward. Theres no "right wing" in 433 or a 4231, its the set up used by England to win the World cup in 66, a team known as "the wingless wonders". Alf Ramsey blew away 80 years of tactical theory with that side, it really was something new back then. Feel free to correct me, am all ears. Or are you just twisting things to fit a narrative?..on here?..no shit... Pardew's being annihilated on here in case you hadn't noticed, and he's fucked up royally all season, thats undeniable. Ask yourself who appointed him, who will possibly continue to employ him, who has set the club up as a stop off point for some obviously pretty good players who are just looking for a feel for this league and its riches before they get themselves a move to a champions league side? I dont really have a problem with that, or I do, but I also understand its pretty futile crying into my beer about our inability to appoint a a manager good enough to get us to play like Brazil 1970 when we have an owner who wants to make a profit every season by operating the football club like one of his shops. Yours, hoping to be proved completley and utterly wrong, A. Cynic.
