  1. Fuck off man....they've been rubbish since the day after I saw them in Orange County CA in 94
  2. We're never, ever going to have a squad fit for purpose as long as Mike Ashley is at the helm so I can't understand why anyone is beating themselves up worrying about it. That's not to say am pessimistic about next season in any way, but as HF pointed out we spent 37mill last summer and didn't improve in any way shape or form. Try to enjoy the summer Fish.....winter is coming.....
  3. Absoloutely mate its all ancient history and McGee's book, for all it being a cracking yarn, is just him burnishing his reputation and self imposed "mythical" status. Don't know if you lived across here in those days but a lot of good bands played a dreadful Friday night tv program "the word" with brilliant trippy visiuals...
  4. The period you're describing is after the sale to Sony though, of course it was going to get corporate and faceless. Have you read McGee's book?... The "official" line is MBV took more than half a decade to record "Loveless" nearly bankrupting the label, making a corporate sale more than likely. Ride fizzled out, Swervedriver didn't have any real "fizz" iyam..after the money troubles the likes of Slowdive and Swervedriver were always going to be under threat..
  5. I'd not heard that but there was a major cull at some point including 18 wheeler and Travis I think, there were others too. Am not sure its accurate to claim that Britpop killed Creation, for me it was just another step in early 90s process in which the media changed the alternative into the mainstream.
  6. pop music popular, who'd have thunk it?? McGee had in 1992 3 of the biggest selling albums in the uk and still couldn't make any money. He got sober and sold it to Sony iirc. Great auteur (for want of a better word) but a shite businessman.
  7. Harry Redknapp was getting Bournemouth to the upper reaches of divi 2 at the same age as Sherwood is now on a miniscule budget after a very, very average playing career. Sherwood captained Blackburn to the prem league title and has been given a leg up due to the profile that gave his career. Am not entirely comfortable defending him but as a coach Redknapp had huge ability iyam. He spoilt himself once he personally got and was able to spend huge amounts of other peoples money.

  9. Looks like more paper talk, sounds like Van Gaal has told him to sling his hook like...he's not much of an upgrade on Willo tbh, better footballer but falls to bits when a striker gets physical with him. Attempting to intimidate the likes of Cisse by gobbing on him is about his level..
  10. As far as centre backs go we're being linked to James Chester again this morning by Shoot! website, which the last time I heard of it was printed on paper and was doing spotlights on various late 70s footballers, who almost always stated that their favourite food was steak and chips and their favourite singer was Rod Stewart http://www.shoot.co.uk/category/news/palace-join-leicester-newcastle-and-villa-in-race-for-defender/ Oh and Johnny Evans too, Pappis is looking forward to renewing aquaintances am sure
  11. Wonder if this idiot has ever posted on here?.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11758845/Ex-Newcastle-College-student-plots-Anders-Breivik-style-massacre-at-campus.html
  12. Chicken sheesh for his tea in that bag by the looks of it...
  13. Good point Owen... http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jul/22/left-new-labour-blair-brown-child-poverty?CMP=fb_gu
  14. Ban him for acting like a 13 year old in the first day of his school holidays....if CT had started this thread he'd had been hung drawn and quartered by now
  15. You definitely said words to that effect at some point in the last couple of weeks which is what I think we're getting at. One of your classic stock sayings on here is "GREAT SIGNING, WELL DONE MIKE!!....is he any good btw? I've never heard of him.."
  16. Basque,Finnish and Hungarian aren't related to any of the Indo-European group of languages that surround them in one of the most densely populated areas on the planet
  17. I'm not saying McClaren and his staff will definitely coach the players more effectively off the top of my head with fuck all to back it up though....I'm saying his first and most important task is keeping the squad motivated for 9 months not 5, that should get us 4 more wins iyam. Can you honestly say that a lad who was running a youth coaching clinic in Dundee 18 months ago will be able to add something to that? Am not suggesting for a minute that Cathro cant motivate top international players but on paper you have to admit it looks a bit unlikely. Yet you were saying "yeah they're all mint its fuckin great"
  18. We'd be mad to write anyone off iyam. Clean slates all round.
  19. The last two seasons would've been very different if we'd have have turned up for the second half of them. We'd have been at least a dozen points better off both times. That's McClarens first and most important job.
  20. Great speech but tbf Mhairi Black isn't a classicaly trained actress
  21. The SNP are playing some pretty petty games but at least theyre putting it up to the tories. Regardless of who wrote Mhairi Black's maiden speech (I certainly believe it was her but the daily hate etc aren't having it) it was the best 10 mins that's come out of that place in fuckin decades.
  22. You don't need to be a socialist to know and accept that "one size fits all" cuts across all departments whilst simultaneously continuing the creeping privitisation of the NHS and education is wrong. Why does absoloutely everything that exists have to make a fuckin profit? Anyone with half a brain and who is fit, able and willing to work will do ok under this government but theyre saying a big "fuck you" to everyone else. Its not socialist to be against all that.
  23. Well yeah he was but the perception was he wasn't. And the vast majority of his closest colleagues initially weren't. But Hattie has just proved that all that gang wanted was power and shes quite willing to sacrifice any shred of principle she had left to get it again.
