Ok...this is on the agenda for this weekend: http://www.sagegateshead.com/event/underworld/ Thing is, am travelling from the beautiful south with the present Mrs PL on Friday night via an 1830 flight from Southampton. So am looking for recommendations for a late-ish dinner/supper on a Friday night, close-ish to ye olde Copthorne Hotel, preferably without a quota of Quayside stags/hens/general drunkards. Anyone actually eaten in the Copthorne lately?..£14 for fish and chips in the restaraunt, but the bar food there doesnt really tempt either.. Also we're looking for somewhere for a posh-ish Sunday lunch, doesnt have to be carvery sort of thing, just somewhere a bit better than standard pub grub...

Errr...Sadie seems favourite Which us canny in my book. It never fails to astound me the lengths parents will go to just to be "different" when it comes to kids names. One couple I know settled on Felix as an appropriate moniker for their youngest lad. A very good mate of mine had his eldest christened Oscar Achilles, good job for the Achillies bit as he's got two other fuckin Oscars in his class at school

It would be nice to think that exposing this rank hypocrisy would sweep Labour into power but I don't think the cuts affect enough people in enough of the key seats in England. Yes, Labour left huge debts but they didn't pretend to do anything but spend. I worked on some great schemes back then, local dialysis units, new emergency service hubs etc. They were mostly pfi financed which is obviously a bad thing in the long term but these things all improved peoples lives and if the enormous tax haven known as the city of London paid their fair share it would all be eminently fuckin affordable too.
