Newcastle V Leeds // Friday 14th April // 7.45 KO
PaddockLad replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yeah Shelvey has been great the last two games. Thought Hayden made a massive difference last night and Mbemba looked fit and motivated. Best we've played at home since before Christmas by a long way. Watched it in a noisy pub surrounded by wannabe Leeds hard men who acted as if they'd won the European fuckin cup when they scored so it was difficult to tell what had gone on with the individual who got on the pitch; was it just before the end when they scored, presumably when he was celebrating? Or was it more likely before then because I've read the stoppage was the cause of the 5 mins of injury time? How the fuck did a Leeds fan get in the corner?- 209 replies

11-1 to beat Athletico tonight. That's fuckin insane
-
Think if we beat Leeds, Ipswich and Preston then Huddersfield can't catch us. I don't think we'll do that, but as fish says I don't think they're going to win their next three either so we'll probably limp over the line and get promoted after either Preston or Cardiff.

This is it like, and we're likely to be without Gayle for the rest of the season, meaning we'll have been without him for about 3 months of what is almost certainly a promotion season. Am utterly pissed off with the "if we're not utterly brilliant we're shite" brigade. No nuance, no time for legitimate explanations e.g. injuries as outlined above, no fuckin clue. Rafa is properly building the club from the empty husk it was last season, it's a pity a lot of our lot can't see it. Good day out yesterday,in spite of Wednesday being the better side for 80% of the game. Personally it's the first time I've been to Hillsborough since Boxing Day 1988, four months before the disaster. My mate said of all the stands that should've been redeveloped as a direct result of what happened then you'd have thought the leppings lane stand would've been a major priority. But it looks the same as it did 30 years ago, which in 2017 is shabby, scruffy and delapidated. It's frankly a disgrace iyam, and it's also more than a bit eerie to see Wednesday supporters in there yesterday. Rafa and some supporters groups left floral tributes at the memorial, really good of them. We had a few in town after the game then got the train back to Chesterfield where we were staying, a town with more than a touch of Royston Vasey about it

Is there a setting on Spotify that will make the fuckin thing play an album from track 1, then in an upward ascending order to the band determined final track of said aforementioned album? Apart from that, I really like it. I'd used it for years without a subscription but got a free three month trial when I bought my denon receiver last year which I've just carried on with. Being able to fire the phone at the receiver and just let it play is great. I think I may be wandering down "CT Lane" with that last bit

The first one was commissioned a decade ago, it's still a parcel of shit

Ronaldo has changed so much as a player like, he's just brilliantly functional now. Liking HBA's comments, shows passion for the game and an innate understanding and intelligence about how the fucker should be played. I still like Rafas 2 in front of the back four at home though

If Jermaine fancies staying in the area next season, just saying like He may even bring Tito Marlon and Randy with him

Yeah they're great, when turning port or starboard at anything over 20 knots the T45s entire essential services, ships safety and weapons systems shut down

Think Fulham are the classic "late surge into the play offs" team, there's often one. Think Leeds are the best team in there though. Tbh it's a total lottery. I've been impressed with them all at times this season but it's their inconsistency that keeps them out the top two and makes the play offs pretty hard to call. Fulham have done the double over us though so am going for them

Dumpy's Rusty Nuts and Mung bean Jesus in support?

It's a great album like https://youtu.be/zNfbcSBib64

Yeah mate, they probably played 5 or 6, one of the duets with their sister on vocals, she also did "just like honey". I missed them by a week in Auckland last year and was gutted, think they'd done Oz by then which is where we were heading after NZ. Really like the new album, sounds like they've been listening to old Hawkwind tracks Enjoy Feargal and the lads topping their pensions up. Saw Helmet at Reading years ago, never really got into them though. Liked this though.. https://vimeo.com/30231400

Jesus and Marychain on Saturday at our local O2.... for a pair of twats the wrong side of 55 they were off the scale. They judged the pace brilliantly, the whole thing built to a massive crescendo at the end where they played Reverence which nearly took the roof off I'd forgotten how much I loved them when I was younger, we got a bus from Gala Tech before I was even aged to drink to see them in Glasgow, that gig ended after about 10 mins when some of the locals decided to have a riot Ps ... pleased I didn't burst into tears during April Skies as I did in 1994 listening to it on a Walkman sat on a train between New York and Boston

I first thought they'd leaked this on purpose to get rid of him, but am not sure if they can afford to pay him and his team off then hire another bunch of desperate fuckin losers to replace them
-
That last bit; spot on. In general it's a bit of cunty thing to say but those words have crossed my mind more than once this season , just piss off and start following Chelsea if you want the moon on a string

People have difficulty factoring in the fact that we're owned by Mike fuckin Ashley before they knee jerk all over the Internet. Regardless of our very decent season the current squad has been financed by an owner who's got us relegated twice in 7 seasons. He's the really fuckin useless one, tbh almost all other comment is rendered pretty fuckin pointless by this point.... "WERE SHITE MAN COLBACKS USELESS!!" is at this stage verging on some sort of weird virtue signalling.....you can pick out a poor player? Well good for you, genius... We know the squad is mostly mediocre, we know Rafa is safety first, patient and at times attritional . I fuckin love him for it me like

I stated (at some length ) on this esteemed forum a few years back that if they brought it in for a ball over the goal line then it would soon be brought in for everything. All completely driven as you say by the needs of the TV companies that bank roll professional sport. It's not enhanced other sports iyam, it's just taken the human touch out of them. These sports that spread across the world over a century and a half without any real officiating problems until cunts in suits decided to monetise them. its not progress, it's just fuckin nonsense.

Shall we open a book to guess by how much the pound will fall v the dollar and euro by end of play on Wednesday, or is that just typical remoaner alarmist bullshit?
