  1. It’s fuckin lovely isn’t it? We’d say “tway” for two, which I realised when we went to Breda in the UEFA cup is precisely how the Dutch pronounce “two” ie as in Willem II F.C. who play in nearby Tilburg, a local explained the club is named after Prince William the 2nd, or as they say “Willem Tway” …. I’ve since learned the make up of the Anglo Saxons who settled the north east and eastern Scotland were from all over what is now northern Germany, Denmark and Holland, and some of how they spoke is still with us today 👍
  2. Was giving this a miss then started to regret it, but I’ve not been out the house since Friday with a rotten cold so I wouldn’t have been going anyway….not sure if that’s a win? 🤔
  3. Stand by for a knock at the door this weekend if I get nicked @Gemmill I’ll send you a visitors pass from jail , bring a cake with a file in it :D
  4. SIGN THE PETITION ✊🏻 This is near where the in laws live. Incomers to the area are CUNTS
  5. Aah ok, yeah it was just to illustrate that there’s more than one way to come at this. London is obviously hugely different to the NE but Brentford is a brilliantly well run club. London , especially south London is teaming with young talent in a way that am fairly sure the NE no longer is. Elliot Anderson isn’t ready to contribute at 21… if he was, he would be . There’s time for him but where are the others?… I completely agree with the criticism of Ashley re youth development but perhaps it doesn’t make sense to invest when the raw material is scarce. South London provides more premier league players than anywhere else in the country and the competition to attract them is intense. Looks like Brentford have let others incur all the initial expense then just cherry pick those who didn’t quite make it and saved millions. They may well still make good profits on B team players. Just a personal opinion, but I think the diminishing returns re outstanding young talent coming from traditional Northern industrial “hotbed” areas ie NE, Liverpool/Manchester, Yorkshire coal field, and to me most obviously and sickeningly Scotland . The communities that produced hundreds of great players in the 20th century no longer exist, so the players aren’t coming through. What have we had in the last 20 years? Taylor, Ramage, Carroll, Longy? In the 80s Newcastle had a player of the year award and a Geordie player of the year. Not much need for the latter recently…
  6. No. No idea 🤷🏻‍♂️ bonus point / negative point? 🤔
  7. Yeah but don’t bother. Domestic installs deliver a constant temp of about 20-22 degrees, there’s little adjustment ie it’s on or off and it doesn’t do HW. Hydrogen boilers would be better but are ludicrously expensive atm and you’d have to change your entire system ie pipes rads etc .
  8. I think combis are being phased out in new builds but retro fit is still allowed. It’d cost 20-30k per dwelling to install a low carbon system . That’s covid furlough type money and there’s no conceivable uk government going to do that in the in the near future.. it would make sense and provide 1000s of jobs but It’s not happening…,
  9. Brentford ditched their academy precisely because theyd develop players and not be properly compensated when they left (usually to Chelsea I imagine 😆) https://theathletic.com/4067209/2023/01/08/romeo-beckham-brentford-inter-miami-loan/?source=user_shared_article
  10. If it’s >10 years old change the fucker as HMHM says. We had the heat exchanger changed in ours but it’s now making a a really loud noise when it ignites, too much carbon on the gas regulator or something. We were going to move last year so got it serviced so it’s not dangerous (or it wasn’t that day ) but we’re going to be here for a while yet so will probably have to replace it..
  11. Aye that’ll do it like. Not a lot of recently found moral compasses on that thread which is refreshing. One lad says bar Isak who’s barely played our spending is in the West Ham/Villa bracket which is fair and tbh generous for your average punter…
  12. So Leicester have only sold 700 tickets for this, mostly because they’ve won it twice in living memory + FA cup/league title and the fans aren’t really up for anything bar survival this season… tbh they sound like us in 06/07 but with added silverware https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/130841-newcastle-away-league-cup-quarter-final-pre-match/page/8/#comments
  13. This morning we can bring you exclusive footage of Robin Robin with Dougle’s breakfast whisky
  14. Fuck off man “the fella who got Bournemouth relegated” ….
  15. Well you & the rest of the Gloucestershire Gurning Squad can just fuckin cut that out, capice? 😡 Youre right though, his finishing has been wank for a year. The last two games he’s gone beyond that though, the chance he got at Arsenal looked like me on a Sunday morning circa 1995. That’s what I mean by going backwards. He completely bottled it, his confidence appears lower than it was pre WC.
  16. The decisions you describe were all largely made by mid September though, we kicked on and the team didn’t change much after that
  17. At the moment they both appear only to be fit for half a game. At least they’re being managed, fuck knows what state they’d be in under Bruce 😬 We’ll see what happens v Leicester. The whole season under Howe is a process in a way, the way he handles everything. He’s not really had to do much pre WC, the XI was largely picking itself bar Wilson/Wood . We’re still third in the league with Chris Wood playing regularly. I see that as a small triumph rather than something to get wound up over
  18. Well yeah, agreed. But we’ve still only scored in three from five. That’s not all down to the quality of the squad overall is it, as you say at this stage of the project? They were scoring for fun before the WC break and it’s still the same players… The squad is what it is. We’re not finishing chances in all games. That’s the story of the restart. Not winning a one off cup game where we made 7 changes to the starting line up isn’t where we should be focusing our critical gaze iyam. Yes we looked ropey at the back and ineffective in midfield . We still created enough chances to win the game as we gave done in all games since we’ve come back bar maybe Arsenal. Fix that and we’re all good again. Barring injuries that might let these frightful reserve team players in 🙄 Let me ask a question. Why does Chris Wood look like a Sunday league player in front of goal at the moment? Where the fuck has any semblance of confidence he may have had disappeared to? Because if Eddie Howe is this all conquering utterly unreal coach he’d be able to sort that right out shouldn’t he?…,please don’t read that as a criticism of Eddie Howe or Chris Wood for that matter. They’re both only human and I think beneath the instant reaction post game and recriminations the day after for hours on end we forget that. These are people with human failings. He visibly shrinks when he gets a chance now, and Jacob Murphy isn’t far behind him. Neither are anywhere near good enough for where we’re going, but they’ve gone backwards since the restart iyam. Under Eddie Howe. It doesn’t make any sense does it? Yes we can say “they’re both shit get rid NOW!” but that’s unlikely to happen this month . I don’t pretend to have any answers but two days of lamenting the squad that Ashley and Bruce built isn’t identifying what we can change to start scoring more goals again. Because I can’t see us singing another centre forward this month either. We’ll see.
  19. You do realise that the entire squad have only scored in 2 out of 5 games after the World Cup break don’t you? Isak & Murphy finish their chances on Saturday and a billion megabits of bandwidth would’ve been saved on this forum due to folk not lamenting how utterly shit the squad is outside of maybe 14 players. If we don’t beat Leicester it’s an official dip in form and probably where we should be after our supernatural highs in the Autumn. It doesn’t bother me too much tbh, October to mid November was fuckin unreal but taking everything into account the true ability of the squad is probably a bit closer to our pre October travails than what came pre Christmas. We’ll see, the Bournemouth, Leeds and Sheff Weds games all contained the chances for us to win those games. But with Wilson & Isak only seemingly fit for half a game and Miggy possibly going back into his shell a bit you have to wonder where the goals will come from…
  20. Talking to an electronic box. Putin is watching your fuckin thermostat Gemmill and you don’t even care
  21. I think they may fix that…one massive semi then one of them possibly v us = a massive final . Man City v NUFC, repeat of 1976 final…..
