There was someone called Tom McGurk on the radio yesterday, @ewerk might be familiar with him. He says this deal won’t fly with the DUP who have no intention of returning to a Stormont where they’re going to lose their majority at the next election and therefore Sinn Fein will appoint the next first minister. He said it’s either EU alignment or Stormont, but they’re not getting both. Downing Street have slapped the PM down on this with a “clarification” James O’Brien has been great this morning, he thinks it’s a really big deal. DUP seem to hold the key though?

Yeah we’ve no chance of winning but it’s the money the champions league brings in that would be the most significant thing for me, the standard of player we could attract etc. Am like you, more than happy with the progress we’ve made. But if we don’t finish top 4 I think its fair to say that it’s a missed opportunity that may be difficult to repeat, especially next season and f we’re in the Thursday/Sunday slot 👍

I think the point that kills me is them playing 8 games to our 4 before the final and still winning fairly comfortably, they’d put Barca out of Europe on Thursday night ffs. They’re going to be a very decent side next season. There’s a gobshite on twitter who is never happy about anything . We might as well still be owned by Ashley for him. Thing is more often than not he’s right-ish. He said one thing that made me think a couple of weeks ago. Whilst complaining furiously about the transfer window he said this may be our best chance to finish in the top four for a few seasons. There’s a good chance that is true iyam., especially due to our lack of activity in the window (am not complaining btw, just stating the situation) Chelsea will sign a striker in the summer obviously. Spurs are still up there despite being overwhelmingly average . We’ll have to see if the perception that we were being made to wait for targets to become available is accurate and obviously FFP is going to be important. And then you’ve got possible takeovers at Man Utd & Liverpool. It’s not going to be easy & this possibly was our best chance….

I take the positives from what Fish and Gloom are saying whilst still maintaining Man Utd didn’t have to do a lot to beat us. We played ok but there wasn’t any point that I thought we’d win. Man Utd knew too much, without shutting us down completely they were confident they’d keep us out. I don’t think we’d have scored if we were still playing now..,

There were dozens of them on the platform at Wembley Park tube, they’d plainly left the same time we had ie well before the trophy presentation…there didn’t seem to be any joy in them, spoilt by success to just regard winning a Wembley final as just another away game . If we win two or three trophies I think I’ll knock it on the head before I lose my inner child and become a miserable, point scoring, cold eyed consumer of football trophies. The Glazers are perfect for these, grasping, unemotional and fuckin cynical

I don’t think we’re going to Man City on Saturday lunch time with Targett at left back tbh. And suggesting changing what was working brilliantly before the World Cup break during the January window with the benefit of hindsight in late February is a bit bizarre. Dan Burn wasn’t a great attacking option pre WC but we weren’t letting any goals in then 🤷🏻♂️

Aye we said this to some of their lot after the game, they agreed that if it had been played in November we’d have twatted them. We were in a pub across from Great Portland Street tube station, it was rammed with Mags post game. Every time two or three mancs wandered in with their shiny new scarves on they were greeted with a chorus of GEORDIE BOYS ARE ON A BENDER/ MASON GREENWOOD IS A SEX OFFENDER which most took in good humour tbf ☺️ Am not complaining or particularly pissed off with yesterday but to say Man Utd were shite isn’t a reflection of what I watched. After the goals they pretty much knew how to shut the game down and we at this stage of our development didn’t really know how to change that. We’re a few transfer windows away from that level . First we need to start taking some the chances we do create . Where Wilson was when the ball was squared clean across the six yard box in the first half I think only he knows. That’s the game changing chance, and he was AWOL. God knows what’s wrong with that lad but I think there’s more to it than loss of form. Maxi was getting double teamed which he can’t deal with (not many can tbf) Bruno faded then appeared to get injured going for a ball that maybe wasn’t there to be won. Their first goal wasn’t a free kick in the first place as long long as I’ve got a hole in my arse. Isak started well but as usual when I’ve seen him play gets frustrated with those around him and goes into the huff a bit. I asked a Manc if they’re confused about the Glazers, singing how they want them out just before full time holding aloft the scarves that had been handed out by the Glazers. I mentioned the titles and champions leagues they’d won under their ownership, he mumbled something about not being able to remember much after 1999 which was exceedingly convenient for the purposes of the conversation. That’s the biggest takeaway from yesterday, the sheer entitled arrogance of these fuckers. That was the hardest thing to take, not what happened on the pitch…
