  1. It’s definitely Joe Mangle tribute week on here
  2. Produced by Trevor Horn. I’d recommend his book, he basically invented 80s pop… the first use of a fairlight sequencer/sampler was on a record he produced. For 10 points can you name it? 🤔
  3. We’re flying to Edinburgh from Bournemouth (£25 return!) then getting the train down . Rumours of time for a swift half gallon in the Free Trade, Marygate, Berwick upon Tweed are said to be “wide of the mark” 😉
  4. Hunter valley is full of Northumbrian place names, presumably due to miners from the NE settling in the area to exploit the coal reserves? There’s a Kelso in Washington State, US, just at the foot of Mt St Helens which blew its top in the winter of 80/81 which coincided with my first year at secondary school. Kelso High School Roxburghshire was somehow in regular contact with Kelso High School Washington and we received lots of photos showing the devastation across the area. We did a geography project on it, about how the eruption affected the weather across the entire planet, including causing one of the coldest winters on record in the uk 🤓 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_eruption_of_Mount_St._Helens
  5. How about some early morning Rhineland (soft) ROCK??! (stand by for more Bosch bangers throughout the day pop pickers )
  6. Deutschland > UK culture 😊 @Isegrim are you old enough to remember this Teutonic banger?… this was utterly amazing to my 13 year old ears 👌
  7. There was another yes/no exchange and my missus could see the way this was going so she came across, took the book he’d just signed from me and said “right let’s get a picture!” and proceeded to get us lined up for the shot and the mood dissipated back into joviality again I got the impression the problem was/is even for KK’s legendary common touch with ordinary punters he’s not used to being contradicted by us plebs, he wasn’t taking it, and because I knew I was on easily provable firm ground I wasn’t going to back down either… fair to say we’re both cunts in a way; the difference is he’s won the ballon d’or twice and I drive a white van with some light bulbs in the back of it 🤪
  8. It did in 2015, they got caught up in the strange wave of nationalism after the referendum the year before. Then they realised that they’d been voting for closet Marxists and put the tories in. They’re not the brightest tbh See above ^
  9. It was never Tory till the SNP turned up
  10. no he said “oh Kelso yeah me and Terry went to the races there when we played at Newcastle “ ”Yeah we used to see you there, my mate Bruce’s dad was the starter” “wait a minute you sound Scottish, Kelso’s in England isn’t it?” “no the border is about 2 miles downstream at Carham, Kelso is just in Scotland “ “no it’s not!”
  11. He contributed to one of those Facebook pages eg “pictures of football from the 80s” that pops up now and then … I knew it was him after about two sentences Great to see he’s thriving in spite of everything. Two kids is a blessing
  12. I met Keegan at a book signing in Southampton. My now wife had to step in and stage an intervention before we had a full blown row as to whether Kelso was in Scotland or England
  13. Antonio kept on dragging him out of position. Improved 2nd half like the rest of them
  14. Ask Eddie if he remembers when I offered to buy him and his teammate Richard Hughes a whisky? (He declined )
  15. Him and Jack would go to Roker or SJP if there was a decent game on. Jack is a self confessed Mag, his brother was too focused on a career in the game to profess love for any individual club. So they can all fuck off
  16. Yeah that’s a good piece. I think Newcastle folk hate that neither brother played for Newcastle and bare a grudge. Jack now gets a pass because he retired back to Ashington but when he was Ireland manager he was widely described as a traitor. Everything else that’s thrown at BC is irrelevant shite to this central point. I’ve read his books and he describes the scene where Jackie Milburn is sat at the kitchen table having been sent from the club and was basically telling him not to bother as the club was a fuckin basket case. BC four uncles all played professionally, he’d spend a few summers doing pre season with Bradford City where one of them played. Bobby had three brothers too and they were the most popular kids in the street because when the uncles visited they’d often bring an old casey with them so the Charltons were invariably the only kids on the street with a football. The wife/mother fall out was obviously unpleasant but no one’s business but the falmily’s . Anyone going in strong on BC is wandering down “mackem behaviour lane”… look at that thread, it’s full of people offended by the irrelevant actions of others. Stop it. Now.
  17. Are we now seeing that we’re a better attacking unit at home with Murphy rather than Miggy on the right?…difficult for me to imagine that Miggy would have been able to replicate Murph’s two assists yesterday
