  1. One option could be to build into Leazes Park and the fields beyond (which aren't part of the conservation area I believe), and then use the SJP footprint to gift back the same amount of Leazes park land we've used. The 2 pieces of land are nigh on the same size
  2. I dont think the fields at the top are officially part of Leazes Park (looking at the blueprints I posted in the top post)
  3. That's the gamble, because another season with no trophies and no Europe is when Gordon, Isak and Bruno start looking elsewhere
  4. Which is the criticism the club got in the Summer. We were all in on Guehi and when it didn't come off we were left with nothing to show for it and no alternatives. If Mbuemo is our target in the Summer, and there's decent cover options available on loan in the mean time, then I don't see the sense in not being in for one of them. If Murphy gets injured on Wednesday then we are into square pegs in round holes territory with Gordon on the right, Joelinton on the left and Willock/Longstaff starting in CM
  5. So why not take a look at Asensio? 6 month loan, no risk, and adds competition in the RW
  6. On the flip side, do you miss players that have hardly played? I see Villa are bringing in Asensio and Rashford. They were after Felix too. Its like the days of NUFC buying top 4 rejects and getting relegated
  7. Can't see Howe being happy with 3 CBs and 1 RW in a squad that is still competing in 3 competitions
  8. Surely we've agreed this to get a player bought before the end of this window? Good money for our 4th choice CB, but it would be mental to remove 2 ever presents on the bench in Almiron and Kelly and have no one to replace them with
  9. Bournemouth and Villa both losing. If West Ham do us a favour against Chelsea on Monday then today has been a free hit
  10. I think he had a purple patch (ala Almiron) but that was 2 years ago and he's been either injured or poor ever since. He's just blocking Miley's progression at this point (imo)
  11. I would hope that as part of building on Leazes Park they then turn the SJP footprint into a new green space.
  12. Probably worth its own thread given an announcement is due later this season. Someone posted this picture on Facebook recently. Not sure if it's part of the clubs feasibility study? Council papers that show the listed buildings/conservation area around SJP The last last time the club was planning on building in Leazes Park
  13. Yeah, I suspect his price and interest will both be much higher by the Summer.
  14. We better have a mint Summer transfer window mind! Wilson and Almiron need replacing and long term replacements for Schar and Pope are needed, at a minimum!
  15. I don't think he owes tax on it as long as he doesn't move back to the UK for a certain period. Edit - He's got to live somewhere else for 5 years or he's liable for tax However, anti-avoidance rules known as the 'temporary non-residence rules' may prevent UK individuals from taking advantage of more beneficial CGT regimes overseas. A person who is treated as temporarily non-resident is subject to tax, on their return to the UK, on certain income and gains accruing, arising or remitted during their period of non-residence, or which would have been attributed to them if they had been resident during that period. These temporary non-residence rules apply where the period for which the taxpayer does not have sole UK residence is “five years or less” – with the effect that an individual will need to be non-UK resident for six complete tax years (if split year treatment is not available) to guarantee that the 'temporary non-residence rules' will not apply. A return to the UK so soon after leaving may result in an unwelcome tax bill on return.
  16. I mean, they're not. There's some antifa dickheads, but given they aren't literal Nazi's they aren't "as bad as those they oppose"
  17. It wouldn't be a state of the art ground though. It would be the current ground tarted up with another tier on the Gallowgate. How many corporate seats do you think they can add into one extra tier? They are 100% building a new ground with a shitload of corporate seats and bars/restaurants to bring in cash hours before and hours after games. The club have been drip feeding hints for months. You say grounds turnover surprisingly little money, but: Last season (2022/23) Newcastle United banked around £38m (£37.9m) from matchday revenue, it was Man U who were at the very top of the English clubs with matchday revenue for the season of £129m.
  18. High Potential and Paradise are both easy watches. Worth a look
  19. Aye. Would only make it the 6th biggest ground in the league, and the 8000 extra seats would probably take 100 years to pay off the initial outlay. Time to prepare ourselves for the announcement that we are moving.
  20. Yep. No-one has a fucking clue what happened yet, but POTUS has pinned it on the blacks and gays. I hope it's dawning on the moderates who voted for him what they have done.
  21. Saudi club have offered €65m to Brighton for Mitoma and they've said no!
