I visit Newcastle…all the time because it’s the only place to go but more often for music than football these days & don’t really feel the need to put on any airs & graces. Most accents are performative anyway to a degree, especially after a drink. Also their idea that Sunderland is Durham, rather than the cultural & historic reality is pretty funny. “Small town in Durham” is about right.
