Ultimately we want to do this as a job and we got invited to my favourite record label to play a show, it’s also my sisters favourite growing up & owned by one of her idols. She plays bass in the group, said she couldn’t enjoy her night because she was worried about me and that’s absolutely rock bottom for me. It absolutely broke me.

I put my Les Paul through the walls of Jack white’s venue. jokes I didn’t actually do anything bizarrely, but we played a perfect show and I had one of the best nights of my life. I upset the other members of my band cause i was paralytic after the show, they were worried about the optics. So it came to a head…and ultimately I had to do some digging and realise I’m in the wrong. We’ve got about 30 more gigs this year…and they’ll all be free bars…am I gonna get mortal every time? I can’t just have one. So I best have none,

Ultimately I’ve made the decision to be a musician rather than a drinker, that was what was on the table basically.

I was always bad for it but I think the pandemic fucked my relationship with it. At the moment I’m arriving at a lot of free bars, getting riders and stuff and it’s just not sustainable. I can’t do it

my best friend is a doctor, who literally wrote a paper on it for the British medical journal so I’ve gone to him first But also a formal drs appointment is in the books

Well….that was about the best gig of my life Absolutely incredible venue/people. We had a riot. and I got some free stuff and got very, very drunk

Just imagine….for one second…that their stadium was better than SJP. Who actually cares? Theres a cultural revolution taking place in Newcastle and Sam Fender is playing music to 100,000 people in two days. This isn’t a local even per se, people have travelled from all over the county. People who aren’t necessarily football fans…wearing Newcastle shirts. it must be fucking killing the mackems inside

Well I’ve kept this quiet assuming it’s going to somehow get called off or it was a joke or something but…. we’ve been asked to play Third Man Records in Soho on Tuesday. That’s Jack White’s record label/shop Jack White designed the music venue part of it himself and the sound is supposedly impeccable. I think this is going to be a little bit mental.

Turns out it’s practically new & quite easily the best Strat I’ve ever played & by a decent margin too. It’s the first guitar I’ve ever fallen in love with before it even came out of the case (the case is tweed, with an orange interior which is two of my favourite things ) It’s been sat there a good while so will need a proper set up & the next electrics going over but it’s not really been played much so the core factors that make a guitar work are all there. That picture doesn’t do it much justice but I’m gigging it so under the stage lights it’ll no doubt pop. It’s black and a Strat which is basically the two aspects of a guitar that will show wear so I’ll have to explain that to me relatives if I gig it a few times and it appears a bit worn, it’s just the nature of em! Sounds absolutely legit as fuck & I’ll give it the home/use it deserves.
