  1. I hope hes just playing the fool, and isn't in reality this spectacularly retarded
  2. Yeah, you shouldn't go to see them and expect a GnR show, but that said I still really enjoyed them when they played Download in 2006, Buckethead and Bumblefoot are far more proficient guitarists than Slash, and could play all the songs perfectly night after night despite only just learning them, whereas Slash seemed to be a bit sloppy on account of him being pissed most of the time. But anyway, as a live show they probably don't have much on the classic lineup other than musicianship, but I would say they're well worth seeing if they're playing at a festival, or if you're lucky enough to get free tickets, not sure i'd pay £50 or so to see them. Never got the chance to see Velvet Revovler live in person, but they always seemed pretty solid. Slash's new solo stuff is pretty good as well, and Miles Kennedy from Alter Bridge is touring with him at the moment, doing some old Guns songs as well, which i've heard have been awesome (was going to catch him at Hellfest but they clashed with a couple of other bands), although i've not heard it myself. In terms of getting close to the real thing I saw a fantastic GnR tribute band a couple of years ago, who were probably one of the best i've ever seen, he sounded so much like Axl that people had accused them of using bootlegs and miming them, and it only cost a tenner, rather than £50.
  3. It's not terrible, I think the large black area around the collar bone looks a bit strange on all the pictures, but I guess i'll get use to it. I won't be buying it, but then I probably wouldn't have brought it if Ashley wasn't here anyway.
  4. Guns N' Roses are playing soon as well, I think. Bands with exclusivity contracts to a festival in England (i.e the biggest ones) tend to like playing shows in Ireland at the same time so it's not just a trip for one show.
  5. I went to a festival in France a couple of weeks ago which was probably the best festival i've ever been to. Bands seem to charge a lot less to play at festivals in mainland Europe as they can do quite a few on the go without having to cart their gear over the sea. European festivals are able to play much much later due to different sound laws, so its pretty exhausting, and its not as cheap as it was in the past thanks to the Euro, but the combined cost of Travel and a ticket compared to festivals in England is pretty much the same now. I guess you could make a holiday out of it as well, and stay in a hotel nearby, or stay on and have a look round elsewhere, but you'd probably be to exhausted anyway. There are some great festivals in mainland Europe for just about everyones music tastes if you look for them, i'd definitely recommend going to one.
  6. I love Jason Becker, Cacophony were fantastic, Jasons tone was a bit lame, but the playing was incredible.
  7. I think there are a fair amount of genres and bands out there who write music with that in mind - probably most notable in metal. Black metal bands tend to like writing about the most fucking stupid things out there, like burning churchs, drinking virgins bloods and how the weathers a bit cold in scandinavia. The vast majority of those bands accept that the lyrical content and lifestyle around the genre is pretty much entirely a show to make their music sell more, with the clear intention of appealing to teenages who want to look hard and stick their middle finger up at their parents. That said, if you take it with a pinch of salt the music is pretty good. The same can be said with things like Gangsta Rap, although the hip hop culture surrounding it is far more important than the pretty fabricated one of Black metal. Again, the music is great if you take the lyrics with a pinch of salt and it definatley wouldn't go down to well with parents, although I guess the scene originated in the 80's, so isn't really to modern. I guess if you analyse some of the lyrics of music from a lot of genres these days parents would probably look at it with some distane, in the past swearing was used pretty infrequently in songs now its relatively commonplace and although in the 70's bands seem to love singing about wanted to chace girls and plow them it, by and large, wasn't as explicitly written about as it is today. As for a musical revolution, I guess you could argue modern day indies had really thrived in the last 5-10 years especially, with a huge percentage of teenages listening to it, although again the genre came about a fair amount of time before that. I suppose its hard to see where a musical revolution could come from, or what it would entail, but I guess it was like that in the past; people thought a dead-end had been reached, then something completely new and exciting came along and changed everything; I guess thats why its called a revolution
  8. All seems far too safe and adult friendly to me these days. I find the musical scene of today pretty dispiriting, everything seems so middle class. I quite enjoyed the Gorrilaz for example, but it sits a bit uneasy for me when the younguns are listening to middle aged mens music. The last two great youth musical uprisings terrified the grown ups, and thats the way it should be. Punk was powered by speed, Rave by ecstacy - maybe the kids of today need a new drug to kick something into life. To be honest I havent exactly got my finger on the pulse so I could be talking utter shite, however when that recent greatest band ever thing still had everybody bleating on about Led Zeppelin I found it so depressing. We fought the punk rock wars in the 70's to get rid of the same old shite and still it goes on. Kids shouldnt listen to their (grand)parents music -its wrong Why? I think its good that people are still listening to older stuff, as bands can clearly still draw inspiriation from it, but at the same time the musics evolved from it - I mean, there aren't a great deal of really Zeppelin-esque modern bands out there. I never really got the whole 'Listen to music to piss off your parents' mentallity either, so I suppose thats another reason why I'm okay with it. If I, or anyone can still get a great amount of pleasure from listening to an album that was released 35-40 years ago then I don't see a problem with anyone listening to it. Also, the 'mainstream' music scene is pretty watered down these days, but there are still quite a lot of good bands. the indie flavour of the month stuff is generally pretty pish, but theres so much music out there now if you look for it, that there are bound to be a few things you think are great. I guess the fact that now there are so many bands out there, and their music is so readily available thanks to the internet and illegal downloading that people can get there hands on a ridiculous amount of music, with a huge amount of sub-genres that its hard to stand out from everyone else as different people can easily find their niche and stick with that. Every now and then a band comes along and grabs peoples attention, like Arctic Monkeys, or Lady Gaga as you said, but in 20 or 30 years time, people most probably won't care about them. In some ways its good, and some its bad. Its fantastic that there's such a wide range of music out there, with hundreds of sub-genres for just about anyone, and an abundance of great local bands, but on the other hand it does deminish the chance of there being another huge, iconic band along the lines of The Beatles, AC/DC, Zeppelin, the Stones and the like, but at the end of the day, in all honesty i'd rather take the great, not so big bands that are out there if you look for them over the smaller number of heavy hitters out there - I mean, the music scene, in England especially, is thriving. Music is more readily available and as big as ever but as a result of that the music scenes moved on from the iconic figures of the past.
  9. We definitley have the potential to beat them, I can't see us getting to much further if we do, though.
  10. the amount of attention he gets has kept it all going unfortunately Aye, if people just completely ignored him, no matter how witty their comebacks where, he'd soon fuck off into oblivion
  11. He's obsessed with England because hes a really shit wum and thinks its funny - I'm sure in a year or twos time when hes matured a little he'll look back at these posts with embarrassment.
  12. Aye, it's just that the World Cup only come about every 4 years, and that it probably wouldn't make a shade of difference to anything, considering the same thing happened a couple of years ago in the Euro qualifiers.
  13. The thing is, Carragher being good at the back should be seen as a necessity; a given, not a positive considering the opposition - it just speaks volumes about how absolutely wank that performance was. Honestly, the more you think about it the worse it becomes.
  14. I can honestly say I've never been more pissed off at an England performance. At least Carragher and James were reasonably solid - thats literally the only positive, other than that we didn't lose, although we may as well have done.
  15. Absolutely fucking appauling. Toothless performance with no urgency - Capello's constant juggling and refusal to announce a squad until the last minute isn't helping at all. Playing Emile fucking Heskey up front with Rooney painfully deep is just as shit. Theres no way in hell Heskey should start the next game, and theres no way in hell we'll beat Slovenia if we put in such a pathetic performance, in terms of both defence and attack. Drop Heskey, play Cole and Lennon with Gerrard just behond Rooney, thus forcing him to stay forward, and hopefully it'll fit into place and we won't be quite as abysmal.

    Joe Cole

I guess they'll be getting a new Right Winger in, if they've let go of Cole, and sold Stoch today as well
  17. Well that worked out pretty well for me.

    NUST

At least we got at nice NUSC keyring.
  19. North Korea tried to get past the 3 goalkeeper rule by listing one of their strikers as a Goalkeeper, but now Fifa have come out and said that they can only play him as a goalkeeper, and not as an outfield player, and they aren't allowed to change their squad
  20. If we don't sell him the club will probably release a statement about how we want to keep 'Young local talent'. Then go on to sell Taylor to Everton and a release a load of kids

    Hello.

How can you expect to persue a career in Moving Images with craic like that?
  22. I get £50 from a sweepstake if Italy win, so it would be bittersweet
