  1. Of course he could have stayed on his feet, the only tackles where you can't are brutal and almost never occur in the box. You have to go down in a scenerio like that to rightfully get the penalty. Usually anyway. He was right to go down but he has to be the least convincing player when going down under contact and it's reflected in how rarely he wins free kicks. I believe it's because he's fundamentally slow, so falling over always seems delayed. We need to get Jonas in to teach him, he was the best I've seen at Newcastle at winning free-kicks.
  2. A few weeks ago you'd have put your house on Liverpool beating Everton.
  3. Yep, that level of contact is fine if both players are going for the ball or if there was already contact. That has to have been such a simple decision as the palace player has reached across the body of Longstaff for no reason other than to slow his run. Diabolical. Let's get Nottingham Forest's social media on the case.
  4. We've got no answer to skilled pacy attacking players, particularly through the middle. Burn and Schär would have to be amongst the slowest defensive pairings in the league and we've not got a shielding midfielder to help them.
  5. Maybe that's the measure; if you can't prove the onfield decision wrong in 10 seconds then it's not a clear and obvious error and the game goes on. Minimal disruption to the flow of the game and anything that's actually clear and obvious is addressed. Drop the charade of the ref going over the the screen, just have the VAR announce the correct decision and have the audio able to be heard in the stadium and by TV audience. Simple. Effective.
  6. Better late than never on the celebratory gif front
  7. For sure people will still complain but now the complaint is that they're not offside because their toenail was in front of the second to last defender. This would take that understandable complaint out of the reckoning. It would br their whole boot that would be infront. Where it can still be confusing is when they consider the shoulder and head. Make the rule relate to feet as this is how players move... if your head and/or shoulder is in front of the defender but your feet are behind theirs (or in the allowable zone) then that's fine.
  8. I don't think anyone will complain with any justification if there is a clear advantage to the attacking player being ahead of defenders. I'm sure they will still complain but there will be no validity to it. There should be an allowable margin of error considering that they also need to identify the moment the ball was released to determine when to draw the line. That's my biggest contention. So for example if there is less than 150mm* between attacker and the second to last defender at the determined moment then allow the goal to stand. If it's 151mm and you're still complaining then you need a new hobby. * - Or if you really want to be generous 300mm
  9. Public stoning and permaban for @LondonBlue if they don't win it.
