There are players who put in the least possible effort defensively or in terms of movement so that when they do get the ball they're fresh. And then there's Gordon who will sprint at full pace to close down a player who then effortlessly gets passed him, or makes the easy pass sideways. The effort is there but his defensive decision making is poor as is his use of his body off the ball. Plenty of time to improve those though.

Some good observations. With Bruno man marked we were painfully impotent in trying to set up attacks resulting in us forcing the issue with hopeful balls and turning it over with our midfield out of position. This is how we conceded the goals against a faster team. Really, with better defense those goals should not have been scored but we exposed our defenders in the worst way possible by giving Forest so much space. Gordon and Almiron had terrible games and contributed little in attack and even less in defense, Trippier played way too high and Burn constantly gave his man too much space. For me if Joelinton comes back into the midfield replacing Longstaff and Livramento plays instead of Burn we should be more resilient. This has to be with much better positioning across the board also. Dubravka has made some reasonable saves in the last few games, but it generally feels like a minor miracle every time he makes a save or gloves a corner. Our defense as a whole just looks so shaky. Trippier can't make a tackle, Burn is too far away to make one and Botman and Schär have not re-established their impressive partnership. I don't know what can be done about Miggy and Gordon because we painfully just don't have options currently. Willock, Barnes and Murphy all have no fixed return dates and Eliot Anderson even more so (chronic back issues at that age and height are really not good).

Trippier, Almiron and Gordon all have gone horribly out of form at the same time. Longstaff and Burn have looked off the pace since their return. Problem is that for many Howe hasn't had any/many options. Today though Burn categorically should not have started. If Joelinton was fit enough to come on then he should have started rather than Longstaff. Today there are legitimate questions to be asked about both team selection and positional discipline for those who played. We showed a lack of intelligence and fortitude out there which is very worrying. I'm happy for Chris Wood, but we were diabolically poor.

They're pushing too high because they're trying to force things in attack, the result is they're out of position so it looks like they're not tracking back. Longstaff has looked off since his return and we've really missed Joelinton and Willock who bring energy in both attack and defense. Longstaff and Miley currently to me are connecting players, they need the foundation of Bruno and the legs of Joelinton/Willock. Miley looks to have a bit of pace but Longstaff and Bruno don't, so if they're pushing too high (as they have been here) then they don't have the speed to get nack regardless of conditioning and fatigue.

I don’t think it's exhaustion here, we're now low on confidence and have lost some of that grit that allowed us to control games.

There should be no chance that anyone involved in our club seriously considers that Howe could even be considered for sacking. Take away a few errors from players (namely Trippier) and the results we'd have recorded of late will have been more than reasonable for the players at our disposal.

Without Joelinton pur midfield lacks bite. And here he comes, finally.

Burn has looked poor since returning. Trippier is all over the place in the last half a dozen games. We get a lot of chances to cross but can rarely find our own players, why?

Yeah I saw most of this. Good summary.
