Feels like Lascelles is still young, but he's 30 so I'm inclined to agree. The flipside to that is that he's looked good when called on by Eddie and has shown a great attitude off the pitch. Schär has played his best football in the wrong side of 30, and Lascelles having had a quiet two seasons should have a good few years in him. The final flipside is that he probably still turns like an oil tanker.

I hope he can perform at his highest levels consistently, but for me Murphy is better as an impact player when defenses are tiring.

Agree, I was just thinking that Barnes really really likes to cut in and shoot with his right, where-as Gordon only reallly likes to. If he goes we'll definitely miss Miggy's engine, but definitely not his right foot. In fact he'd probably not miss his right foot if it went.
-
If this goes ahead will it mean Gordon being played on the right and Barnes on the left (once fit) or the other way around?

Reinvented as a combative box to box midfielder.

Possibly more unless they really need to sel. His fee to Wolves had a lot of clauses with a high total price of £40m+ and likely a sell on clause too.

@Diego21 we're going to need you to unpack the Real Madrid v. Almeria refereeing 'decisions'. Also, not explicitly saying it's your fault, but Newcastle were doing a lot better when you were posting here more frequently...

Sorry gents I would have been here faster but my keyboard was broken. It was so bad that I had to hire a glyph fix.

No consistency in fitness or performance from him on the pitch in the that time. Who knows, he may be fantastic with attitude etc off the pitch but as per your message much more likely to have had such a long tenure here due to Ashley taking the cheapest option available.

After checking our supply of players is there any chance we could petition the FA for the remainder of the season to be played as 8 v 8?

You can't be considered exceptional at something if you injure yourself everytime you do it. Dummett remains the king of the slide, and even better he's* often** able to pull off the elusive legal slide tackle reducer. * - he's = he was ** - often based of per minute of play
-
Hayden actually was quite attack minded when he came here. After a while he was good for making physical tackles in which he injured himself. Doesn't have the body to handle the physical type of game he played.

Firstly, Ewerk is persona non grata and is absolute poison at the moment. You'd want to watch who you associate with because it's a foul stench that'a hard to rid yourself of. Secondly it's not one or the other. The only thing stopping us spending more money is FFP. The only point to be made about the Saudi League is that it's wholly separate to our operation. Any players there are not any more likely to come to us. The PIF take the league and their teams very seriously and aren't going to undermine them with any dodgy dealings. Plus the high quality players who are there are generally past their prime and on huge wages that we would be insane to match.

This is the truth. As dissappointing as it is we're almost at the point now where there is little to play for for the rest of the season. So making any short term moves that impact what we can spend in the summer for our mid-longer term benefit will be foolish. That said we want to maintain our competitiveness, professionalism and effort in every game which is something I'm sure Eddie will impress upon all. So now really it's about bringing as many players back to match fitness slowly and with as little risk as possible in preparation for summer transfers and a big push in the league for top four next season.
