Actually ran at full pace for us the other week. Means he's got nothing left in the tank, get rid.
-
Ahem what? I think he's wrong too. When your reserves can do the job at no risk to your key players, why risk them. It literally makes no rational sense. Maybe you can explain it to me? Explain the virtue of risking key players when we've got the derby approaching, then Tottenham and Arsenal visiting in the next 3 games? Surely this is a misallocation of valuable resources? I get where you're coming from, and I've been of the same opinion myself previously when there is a quicker turn around of games. We don't have a big squad granted, but there's some merit in keeping some consistency in our side. Noone with an inkling of an injury, or in yellow card trouble should be played, but they're professional footballers not flowers, they shouldn't be afraid to play. I don't mind if we give the young guys a chance as well, but I think we should try to keep a core of experience.

Ahem What are you on about?
-
Or © send a combination of reservists and hardened crack troops to ensure the natives don't get the better of your lesser experienced men by drawing them into their own warfare techniques in their own territory...
-
Would be nice, I'd have him over Bentley, but tbh no chance.
-
I'd put out our best team minus anyone with injury issues... and Tiote even if he's not injured because don't want him picking up another yellow. Krul in goals. Krul Simpson Colo Willo Enrique Routledge Barton Nolan Jonas Best Lovenkrands Subs: Soderberg, Guthrie, Kadar, Vuckic, Perch, Xisco, Ranger I think we'll see Perch and Guthrie start, possibly Ranger too. Definitely Routledge. Edit - Oh, it would be nice to get our first look at Gosling in this match.

peasepud you misspelt arsehole

If you look at our midfield now compared to the season we went down it's no surprise that we're scoring a lot more goals. Barton being a very big provider. Being rid of Nicky Butt, Geremi, etc makes a huge difference. Add to that lot a confident and freely scoring Nolan. I too thought we might struggle (considering we struggled in patches to score even in the championship).

Yeah, that for me is the key and will ring their true intentions. Not just with Carroll, but with other promising young players who draw interest. That would be Enrique, Carroll, Ben Arfa and Tiote principally, and they'd need to be here across sseveral more windows to prove the intentions. Plus, Enrique should have his contract extended quick smart can't afford to let that run down and risk him eyeing off a move back to Spain. They may not be that aware of him currently but it's only a matter of time and we need to use that to our advantage to wrap him up on another lengthy contract.
-
I don't like you but your post was relatively accurate, except for that horrible analogy mash-up.
-
Not a bad side but I'd have Enrique out there if he's completely over his mild injury.... and I'll tell him to get forward as much as possible. Would rather see Ferguson than Perch, but given they're a lower league side there could be an argument for putting Kadar out there as they're like;y to try to be as physical as possible, something Ferguson isn't suited to.

If only you knew what the elite were watching it on TV? PS - I'll be paupering it with the streamer crew for the Stevenage match though, be fucked if I'm sprigging for Setanta again, ne'ev watched it when I had it after the James Richardson football show was axed after they ran out of money. Yes, they're still going in Australia and have the rights to the FA Cup.

I for one am still more worried about who and what is behind us rather than those ahead of us. In my mind our last two wins have kept us out of the bog, not brought us closer to Europe.
-
Of course, captain obvious. My point more was that it would be great to be able to celebrate victories like tonights without having some burning resentment and cynicism putting a dampener on things.
-
7 million for Keane is great business for Tottenham, glad we didn't go near him for anywhere near that price.
-
I hope all the speculation dies down then, don't think it's good for Carroll to have so much talk about him, could see him getting an overinflated value of himself and losing the graft, determination and brutishness that makes him such a vital player for us.
-
8 million for Routledge.. they're having a laugh. I like Wayne, but at that price (or even half of it?) he'd be sold in a heartbeat.
-
That's fair enough. He's largely clueless, but if he can employ enough people that have at least some idea and have or develop a passion for the club then they could nullify to some extent his ignorance. The signings of Tiote and Ben Arfa show that at least someone around the club has some idea about what's required to have us heading the right way up the table. I do feel that we have a solid platform for making a push now, with a good core of a team with Enrique, Tiote, Barton and Carroll. Tiote provides a lot of protection for our central defense, taking the pressure off them. Couple with Enrique's pace, strength and recovery it's a pretty solid defense. They all play pretty well together which is a massive bonus that would make it easier to bring in complimentary players (as compared to Man City with their buy all mercenary players, whack them in a team together and hope they perform). Unfortunately I can't see the continual effort being put into that push from Ashley and Llambias.
-
Can't see how he won't go now, even with no-one lined up.
-
It's hard to fathom so quickly after the unjustified sacking of Chris Hughton, but my question is what would it take to end the cynicism that the majority of us have for fat Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias? It would be great if we could celebrate the positives without the burning thoughts in the back of our minds regarding the overall motives of our owner. For example; Hatem Ben Arfa signs on a permanent deal; we all think who will be going. The manager comes out and says that Andy Carroll will not be sold; nobody really believes it. Leon best scores a hat-trick on his first PL start for us; we wonder if FMA will use it to justify selling AC. For me I'd have to say it would take a consistent run of responsible decisions that show some ambition. The signing off Ben Arfa is certainly one, but it needs to be accompanied by a window and off-season where we don't sell any of our best players, and instead strengthen our squad with additional signings. What do others want to see before they lose the cynicism (apart from the back of FMA and DL)?

Pardew has done well, but the fact that he has doesn't take anything away from Chris, nor does it justify the decision to get rid of him in the manner that they did. On the Tiote injury it definitely looked precautionary, or at worst very minor - he seemed to be walking fine down the tunnel. Harper made a quality save in the closing part of the game, important for us to keep the clean sheet. Playing with 10 men for the last 10 minutes or so we were getting a little overrun because we were pushing quite high and Ranger was having a shocker. For his horrible touches early on Lovenkrands responded well and his swag of 2 assists and a goal was justified. I still think that hanging around Carroll (or apparently Best) will be a good spot for him as he makes different runs and usually gets in pretty good positions. Leon best, well what can you say, his touch look excellent from the start the only thing you can be a little upset about is the headed chance that he wasted. In the context of his game though, that is quickly forgotten. Important now that he starts for us in the FA Cup and plays well again. I'd be putting out just about our best side in the FA Cup, spare anyone with minor injury complaints.

Lovenkrands good finish from an equally good Barton cross that came as the result of a well placed head on from Best. Loven it! Best is off for Nile Ranger, had a slight injury I think, possibly his knee from the wigan match. Ferguson will be coming on as well. Christmas Tree about to get his first look
