Scunthorpe are dictating play here. I thought they might have a bright period but then die out. Even after the goal I thought they might then try to protect their lead but credit to them they've kept the intencity and still dictated the game pressing high. When you play a team that tries to boss where on the field the game is played by pressing high if you can't play your way out of your area then you need to push back and pitn the pressure on them at their own end. Guarantee, with the exception of Ryan Taylor that their defenders will be less composed than ours on the ball. Unfortunately our forwards look gash so far.

Just shows that Ashley is a complete and utter chancer. On the one hand I'm sure they're telling PSV that they can't afford to go over 5M for Pieters then on the other they're offering more than that for another left back. Everything has to have an element of a bargain about it. Pathetic. It's obvious as well that if the at best opportunistic at worst derisory moves don't come off in positions that we NEED to strengthen they'll take the risk and go into the season seriously undermanned. All of the players that have come in of late have been opportunistic signings regardless of positions required. If they get too many players in certain positions, then great, it means that they get to move on other players, no matter how important they are to the team, making a quick buck and getting higher wages off the books. In the case of Barton they've taken a massive bath. He was their first move in the player market and had a catastrophic 2 1/2 years. When he has finally started to come good they've completely bottled it, and annoyed an obviously volatile character not afraid to tell it how he sees it. Then to further compound their fuck up they've gone and let him leave for nothing. Just brilliant. Showing how exactly to get the worst possible value out of a purchase. He was a known entity when he came here, it was a given that he'd need to be treated differently to others. If they weren't prepared for that (and we all know that preparation is something that they have no idea about) then they shouldn't have bought him in the first place.

Nailed on no. Our most consistent and best defender over the last two seasons gone with no replacement and no recognised left back in the squad. Anyone who answered yes is kidding themselves or has misinterpreted the question. But, the window isn't shut yet....so comparing final day vs opening day is a pretty pointless exercise.

I've watched 3/4 of Liverpool's time on the pitch this season and he hasn't had a great deal of service. Scored what should have stood as a goal against Sunderland. I've got no reason to defend him but I think he's done a pretty good job there. Could easily crack though and do something stupid in training or off the pitch if the pressure builds.

All that matters in the end is the final score. For all of their spells of 'dominance' they failed to create any clearcut chances. On the other hand, although we looked quite rusty in periods of the game we created a bunch of clearcut chances, and our defense did a solid job of absorbing pressure. I LOVE that it was Cuntermong that gave away the free kick that Raylor scored from. Poetic justice.
