  1. There's clearly an us vs them mentality that Ashley is breeding.
  2. Interestingly Pardew mentioned Mike Ashley in pre-match interview saying that would be good for the club and for Mike if they won as they've been getting unfair criticism. "...if you get a great win today?" Pardew: "No I just think it would be great for.. For Mike and for the club and for everybody today if we could win because we're getting a fair bit of criticism some of it undeserved in my opinion"
  3. We play better against teams that play football. We do better when the expectations are low. Wishful thinking.
  4. Giving him a little too much credit in regards to offside I'm afraid. He often doesn't come back onside. Generally you excercise a plot like that when your team has possession but not near enough that they can pass the ball. It does put the defender in two minds as they'll instinctively want to be goal side.
  5. Doesn't mean he's not standing in offside positions on plenty of other occassions, just that noone's passing to him when he is.
  6. Yeah, Cabaye actually has some character. It might not be particularly good character when his back is against the wall but it's better than having none like plenty of others in the team..
  7. More likely that he's toeing company line, though it's not like there isn't already plenty of fuel on the fire of Ashley's discontent with Pardew and vice versa.
  8. Yes. Is that what you wanted me to say? Straw man.
  9. In comparison to some of our other players Tiote did ok. Still wanted too much time on the ball, but played his position which is half the battle with him post season one.
  10. Which is exactly my point. That's one thing that Pardew can't be blamed for.
  11. What are you saying? You'd rather Dummett and Williamson?
  12. He plainly isn't a very good manager, nor an intelligent man. But is there a better feasible option out there given our current owner? The point regarding our defenders is that we should have invested in our defense (eg. Douglas) as it was an obvious weak point. The gambling man who controls the purse strings (and tbf owns the purse) isn't interested in contingencies as for him survival is an adequate result.
  13. Hopefully this Chelsea Man city match will remind me what a game of football looks like before I head to bed.
  14. Having to start a game like this with Williamson and a young inexperienced fullback in central defense is a pretty big liability.
  15. He'll have get in the black and white queue once they get to the Emerald City.
  16. The fans are the ones that will suffer from this though, not the players who apparently don't care. So it serves no one right.
  17. Although he wasn't that bad out there in his cameo Shola should retire as a player and reinvent himself as a club mascot. As a mascot it really doesn't matter if you can't be arsed...
  18. Pretty damn annoyed at that. I really thought if nothing else he would be running his arse off out there.
  19. They came out like they needed it, and ended up taking it. Ironically one of the only bits of admirable football they played won it for them, even though it came from a dubious free-kick. Don't think there's any sense in analysing this match too much, except to say that as a team we don't have much collective heart.
  20. We bottled it. Shit time to be playing a team out of form, as form matters little in an encounter like that. Shot in the arm for their season and just another typically disappointing performance from us when it seemed we were doing ok.
  21. Shockingly some actual football is being played now.
