Our left attacking side is horribly let down by Dummett (except when he's scoring a blinder) which might be palatable if he was a great tackler or his defensive positioning was spot on. From what I've seen of Shelvey his timing on tackles is horrid and his defensive positioning isn't great. A Liverpool supporting mate said that his tackling was horrible as well. May have improved at Swansea, but I've seen no signs in his two games for us. That's clearly not where his strengths lay.
