Would it actually be worse for beIN and the Premier League, FIFA etc if KSA are prevented from completing the purchase? Surely that would encourage rather than curb piracy there? If they were to own the club they would at least have their own interest and solid motivation for establishing a legitimate anti-piracy stance, even against their sworn enemies? -

Edwards is the CT of hack journalism. The Saudi response to the WTO finding are quite humorous, and tantamount to "We win against those violent savages". "A World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute panel released its report Tuesday ruling against Qatar, and finding that Saudi Arabia’s national security defence was justified under WTO rules. The WTO panel acknowledged that Saudi Arabia “seeks to protect Saudi citizens and the Saudi population, Saudi government institutions, and the territory of Saudi Arabia from the threats of terrorism and extremism” raised by Qatar in the region. The panel also found that Saudi Arabia's comprehensive actions were “taken in time of… other emergency in international relations,” based on extensive evidence presented to the WTO tribunal by Saudi Arabia regarding Qatar's violations of regional agreements and commitments to renounce support for violence and unrest in the region. Saudi Arabia also confirmed to the panel that it provides strong protection of intellectual property rights, including criminal procedures and penalties in cases where credible evidence is available to the Government to support the initiation of proceedings. In addition to accepting Saudi Arabia’s national security defence, the panel rejected Qatar’s remaining claims that Saudi law violated WTO rules, and rejected claims that the Saudi government supported the alleged copyright piracy. Out of six claims by Qatar, the panel’s single finding regarding criminal proceedings was rendered moot in the course of the WTO dispute. Saudi Arabia has a strong record of protecting intellectual property and is committed to applying its national law and procedures in full conformity with WTO rules. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will spare no effort to overcome the threats of terrorism and extremism, and Saudi Arabia is pleased that the Panel recognized its sovereign rights in this regard." -

I understand, but don't wholly agree. Sometimes it's the things that aren't really important that inspire us, bring us joy, and make us who we are. Whilst times like these can drive home the essential visceral realities of being a living organism, they can also show us what we enjoy and hold most dear to ourselves and our identities as sentient beings. Oh wait, wrong thread, this was a response to CTs sky art in the funny pictures thread. -
Last Dance was great, I was big into basketball through the 90s so the nostalgia was strong....

Just where will this thrilling discussion take us next.... -
I had similar thoughts, then realised it could be tradies and the like who don't want to handle/remove the masks prematurely when they will need to put one back on again shortly. Looks fucking ridiculous though.

TBH this reeks of intentionally leaking the news before breaking it officially in order to soften the blow for the haters. As it's largely just self righteous wind bags championing the outrage it will likely work wonders and they'll simply march onwards to their next outrageous cause. -

Not to pile on, but seriously, at least take a straight photo. Could this be the week that you get the hang of this technology lark? No, it could not.

Day 2? How did you avoid lockdown for so long?

Only needs to go one way because they're never going up.

This is exactly what they'll be wanting, people turning against each other as a distraction from the real questions that need to be asked of those accountable. To be clear I'm talking about the hall monitor gestapo and not you, you're free to bake until your heart's content.

Agreed, Man United is a poisoned chalice with their overpaid underperforming unbalanced squad. It seemed his biggest issue at Spurs was lack of say over personnel. You would imagine this would be different here, and he'd be able to have a much greater input into the signings. The premier league is a known entity for him as well. -

With that voice and the way informatiom is presented by halfway through they could have introduced just about any random 'fact' and I would have believed it. "Steve Bruce, who had to this point done so well as manager of the team will be replaced by an autonomous sex robot, wanted on its own planet for crimes against the native Ewoks". -

Probably as simple as us being in what is a reasonable place on the table, despite the very negative feeling from supporters. There's no chance they've watched much of us, let alone any amount of full matches, so they're taking a tiny bit of information and forming what they see as an 'educated' opinion that of course happens to be so far off the mark it's not even funny. Of course most who read it also won't have watched much/any of us either.... -
My Mrs has had a persistent sore throat and because of the industry she works in felt it necessary to get tested, she registered on a website and went and got the test done about 20 min drive from where we are (Sydney, Aus). She could have just rocked up and got it done too, without pre-booking. Video consult with a Dr, then they conducted the test. Two days later had the result (prognosis negative). They've since opened an additional drive-thru testing centre that's 10 minutes drive away. We've got fewer than 7,000 recorded cases and 95 deaths a bit under half the population (45%). I've been following this thread closely, the incompetence from your government is jaw-dropping and in many ways heart breaking. Many here feel like our government was slow to act and that they have made multiple mistakes along the way, but comparatively looking only at COVID-19 handling we've got it good.

To be honest it hasn't been talked about extensively on here until now (middle eastern ownership) as we've had more than our fair share of ownership problems much more front of mind. As far as Man City go we've been dudded by referees in matches against you guys in fairly recent times (Habib Beye being sent off comes to mind immediately) so I've enjoyed some of our more recent unexpected good results against you. Since you became the richest club in the country I've been happy for you to win because it nails home in a patent way that at the end of the day it's all about money. If you spend enough of it, you will become the best. Manchester United and Liverpool will try to make out that they don't spend like Man City and that there is some intrinsic power in the club that elevates them above others, but the truth once again is money and winning. Players want to be well paid (this is a big part of the motivation for wanting to play at a champion's league club, not just the prestige of the competition) and they want to win. So if this all goes through we will become a much more appealing destination for a higher calibre of player which could potentially lead to the return of champion's league football. TLDR; money has ruined the game, regardless of where it comes from. But, having suffered under Ashley's ham fisted tight arsed operations for an extended period I'm looking forward to the potential for us to show real ambition.
