  1. Plus it's not beyond us to have two defenders and a keeper injured in a half, so better to keep the sub options open.
  2. It's the same game whether or not he's had weeks with the team or days. Guimaraes at 70% should be comfortably better than any number of our other midfielders who are incredibly inconsistent anyway. He's clearly not in short supply of confidence based on his social media, a bad game is not going to have any lasting effect on him. Look at ASM turning in some stinkers and then coming back with big performances. We really don't have the luxury of easing players in. They were bought with the immediate critical task of avoiding relegation. If this was a game away at Man City then there could be some merit to not starting him but this is a game against a side that has been struggling that will be carrying quite a few changes of their own. It's a winnable game and if Howe doesn't believe that Guimaraes can help win it then he shouldn't have been bought.
  3. That was his top speed when he joined us, in metres per hour. Club legend and all that obviously.
  4. Out of all the great many defenders that have played for this club Cacapa was definitively, without a shadow of a doubt one of them.
  5. He will start, so will Burn and Targett. They're professional footballers all of them. Guimaraes is not going to struggle with adapting to the league, we don't have the time for that. We are going to go out against Everton with a gameplan to win and we should be happy with nothing less.
  6. The number of intense stares and upskirt close ups in this was impressive, especially culminating in the 5 way at the end.
  7. Happy days, you must have some crazy metabolism.
  8. Absolutely. The experience of frequently being in relegation battles is generally a telltale sign of a shit manager.
  9. I've stuck it in my shitpipe, now not sure how to smoke it. Further instruction required.
  10. Thought this was the opening scene of a z-grade zombie apocalypse film.
  11. Last season it's a pen, this season who knows but previous to VAR and the PL losing the plot no chance that is given.
  12. Sorry to say it but I agree that he puts in the work but he's at a disadvantage due to his size in every respect, except centre of gravity which isn't worth much when he's not particularly good at drawing fouls or beating a man on the dribble without having acres of space.
  13. Inclined to agree regarding Fraser. He could have value in an extremely open game, but as it is he's not incisive enough to create or finish chances. Prove me wrong Ryan, Howe obviously has some belief in him.
  14. Not sure why you felt it necessary to slate @sammynb like that, but each to their own. I don't really like Ange but he seems to have carved out a reasonable reputation for himself by leaving the country and the preconceptions here about him which are probably influenced more by the lack of any great standout talent coming through the national system than by his own ability as a manager.
  15. Not to burst your bubble but we can safely assume that they know what they're doing and not be concerned that you don't.
  16. Once upon a time he actually had a smidge of threat in attack and some pretty good timing in midfield challenges breaking up play. Let's see next season if Howe thinks he can get that back out of him.
  17. Not worth it, let them learn it themselves, slowly but surely. Bruce talking about finishing mid table is a complete misnomer because it wholly ignores hs most recent history here where he was a nailed on certainty to relegate us. The fact that we fluked a couple of mid table finishes despite him rather than because of him is not going to change anyone's mind who is at least semi informed. I honestly don't care what happens at West Brom, just happy that this cretin is no longer at our club.
  18. Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles liked this post
  19. He's been mixed of late, with more bad than good, but given his age and track record he could do ok as a fringe player alongside better teammates in midfield. His injury would be why he didn't make the squad. This could also be why we sell him in the summer too, as he would easily find a spot in a newly promoted side or similar.
