  1. Is it possible that he loves the slide tackle more than Paul Dummett?!?
  2. I concur and have signed off on the deal, expect him in the next few days.
  3. Defense will hate us if we have Raphinha, ASM, Bruno coming at them with Joelinton enforcing. You've got to pay for the quality attacking spark that someone like Raphinha brings. He'd be a fantastic signing but personally can't see it. Can you imagine if we got him and Paqueta, four Brazilians aged 24-25.
  4. It's a bit of a defeatist attitude but they're spending a lot of money to do what? Try to be an upper middle table club?
  5. We got Burn instead of Carlos, slotted straight in and is all heart. Know who I'd rather have and there would have been no interest in Carlos from us this window. Won't be surprised if he's not a success at Villa.
  6. I don't remember this at all as I was tiny, but that's a great looking logo.
  7. England, Iran, USA, Wales. Inside, outside, inside, scales.
  8. Whilst you're right there's also the chance that he just fancies playing in the slower paced less physical Italian league against inferior opposition. If that's his temperament we don't want him anyway.
  9. It's another case of watch the games, don't just follow the results. Getting a relatively easy run and then being soundly beat by the first highly rated opponent flatters to deceive. It's only against minnows that they seem to be able to consistently create chances and defensively there seems to be no cohesion and a lot of reliance on the goal keeper to have standout games in order to get the results. For the quality of players they have he's underachieving IMHO, and as much as he has respect that counts for nothing in a major tournament. Something needs to change, whether that's only team selection or team selection AND the manager remains to be seen.
  10. A lot of that is great when all players are 17, but less so when you're playing against fully grown adults. I'm not saying he's not a prospect but "very tall for age", "adult build", and "can match adults physically" are not particularly advantageous except that it may mean you learn their true potential a few years earlier than you otherwise would.
  11. Luque. Pretty sure that they were watching the wrong Nacho on youtube when Gonzales was signed.
  12. Looks better than many fancied players in that compilation to be fair because he shows his physicality and determination to win/keep the ball. I know if I saw that video for a player we were rumoured to be interested in I'd be super keen. I'd then go on to say that it goes to show why you need to do proper scouting, except I can't because Joelinton is superb.
  13. There's not playing your best and then there's being played off the park by Hungary at home.
  14. Absolutely, it would have been mad if we didn't sign him given the chance. The speed in which he fit in was phenomenal and the prices being mentioned are a bargain these days for a known entity.
  15. Translations Fantastic = I'd heard of them Good = Not entirely shit Well run = there's no money Good structure = they said I could play
  16. Aye, the implication is that he wanted to retire but couldn't go out like that so he took whatever job as an attempt to wipe the memory of Newcastle as opposed to actually wanting to manage at West Brom and do well. It's all about him. Seriously though any club that woukd appoint him with his proven track record deserves what comes next. The supporters not so much, but the club and the board have made their own mess. Bruce repeats it like a mantra but anyone who watched us play during the Bruce era knows that finishing 12th and 13th was despite him not because of him. The true deserved points return was manifesting at the start of this season but you won't see him mention that in his diatribe.
  17. This just in guys, Barry Moat says he was moments away from purchasing the club which is relevant here because I'll pretend it exonerates something in the same ball park I said ages ago, even though it actually doesn't. And to top things off I'll retcon in my own skepticism over the merits of the aforementioned almost 'purchase' by commenting now that the club has actually been bought by rich owners who have business acumen and the long term interests of the club at heart, even though at the time my point was actually that the rich owners were not even serious buyers. #chickenandwinetime #micdrop
  18. This is what it boils down to I believe, he's not comparable to Wilson so it depends whether they're happy to have Wood deputise when Wilson is invariably injured or if they want someone else. I can't see Howe playing Ekitike up top on his own from the start of a game. The other variable to consider is whether Howe, with whomever we sign will have us playing more possession based football. Every indication is he wants a high tempo pressing game which goes hand in hand with playing possession football, which means having more varied options up front is important as we may play with wingers further up the pitch or someone in behind Wilson.
  19. He's the only manure player in the squad also. Reckon Trippier will be played at LB.

Perception is reality. Newcastle bought their way out of relegation. Liverpool's players do it out of their love for the game and the local area so they're paid a fraction of what other players are. They're also all local, as is their manager John Croft who changed his name only so he won't be discriminated against in European competitions. Their run to second is a miracle story.
