More than anything, it will be "our season fell apart because Newcastle United won a cup."

Was just thinking this to myself the other night as I drifted off to sleep.

Taekwondon't care.

I was going to say that it wasn't like his finishes were spectacular here, had acres of space and put them on target. Good finishes but on any other day at least one probably gets saved. When you're in form they have a way of finding their way in. We'll have a tried and tested proven entity in goals *checks notes* Lorus Karius. Tried and tested by his extremely fine wife at least, one would hope.

I'm imagining them in full kicknboxing outfits. Either like this: Or preferably this:

You're going off the deep end mate. The joke someone else made was at our expense - and fair enough if another teams keeper did what Pope did, we'd be taking the piss too. Enrique responded to that with a joke that IMO mostly takes the piss out of him and he has further explained why he considers himself a Liverpool supporter first and Newcastle second. Can't see any problem with that. When Enrique played for us he always gave his all. If Ashley didn’t delay in giving him a new contract chances are he never would have gone to Liverpool. Even if you want to be bitter about it (why?) the sticking point is we definitely had his best years.

If it's deliberate and prevents an obvious goal scoring opportunity. The latter is the only part in contention, however upon my own follow up review it's a tenuous argument, if it goes straight off Pope's head to Salah and he takes the shot immediately our defender may not have been able to cover it in time due to the angle.

Just rewatched the red card, it will be a hard task to get it overturned. There was only one player goal side, so if it was the last defender who handled there with just the keeper left I still think it would be given as a red. If Pope didn't instinctively cup his hand around the ball it still would have hit his outstretched arm (in a natural position). No hope for Pope In Karius we trust.

BTW Arsenal as good as given the two points they missed out on against Brentford by the VAR this game.

It's all down to whether it was an "obvious goal scoring opportunity". If it's immediately a handball there's no doubt that it was, however that was not the case. Pope heads it first and then handles the ball on the ground. In that time two of our defenders have covered ground to be between their player and the goal. Personally I think we have a case, but I'm biased so can't tell whether that's reality or my black and white specs.

Howe was questioning the red in the post match interview but also offering the disclaimer that he was not sure of the rules surrounding red cards for handballs. If there is any avenue for appeal we will take it, as I said earlier when he handled the ball we had two player goal side of the ball and their forward and it was 40 yards from goal.
