  1. Jonas was good yet frustrating, had some great runs but also screwed up some easy ones. Guthrie was utter shit, thank god Barton will be back next week, and presumably Nolan as well. Ameobi did nothing, Taylor and Campbell did well to fill in
  2. Rangers coming on, the combination of his usual tendencies and the snow will probably result him spending the entire rest of the match on his back
  3. Obviously what I meant to say, was the result of not having contacts in and being half asleep
  4. Weekend or weakend? And I've got Spurs and Inter to win, total score over 3 for both
  5. It was revealed in some book the Mourinho did this at Chelsea. He would have Drogba plan his bookings so he missed the games that weren't as important.
  6. Arsenal v Braga to be over 2.5, Chelsea v Zilnia to be over 3
  7. Just had the feeling before this game that the team had started to lose its momentum and some slackness was showing itself. Hard games coming up. None of the games are harder than a derby and Arsenal away, we'll be fine. I'm not burying my head in the sand, as long as we don't have too many injuries and suspensions everything will be ok. I have my own theory about the Arsenal result and it's mostly to do with the fact they play football and it's a team of lightweights and mini-me's. We struggle against the brutal clogging outfits. MMMM how would that explain the fact Arsenal always batter Everton? 6 or 7-0 last season. Blackburn too. Mick McCarthy had it right, our win at Arsenal had fuck all to do with their deficiencies and everything to do with how well we played. We showed a helluva lot of courage that game that's for sure. We also had the advantage that Whinner STILL hasn't got a decent keeper of midfield commander. They are one of the quietest sides on the pitch. Just whispering he odd thing to each other in Franglisch or Spanglish and exchanging the odd tapas recipie at freekicks. Having a world class keeper wont help them score goals.
  8. Also, had 12.50 on Derby to win, QPR to win and the total goals to be over 3, and for total goals of Hull v Ipswich to be under 2.5. Returned 72.50
  9. Rethinking this again so I wanted to bring this thread back. I definitely want to do my semester abroad somewhere in the UK, Newcastle is definitely an option, but I'm also looking at other schools (LSE precisely, a few more) So basically, I'm asking two things: 1. Could someone generally tell me what Newcastle University is like in terms of its quality of teaching, etc, and also how the student life is (like, is Newcastle generally a good place for out of town students to go) and 2. Does anyone else have any recommendations for Uni's that would be good for an economics based major. Thanks in advance, if I end up coming I'll have a pint with you in Winter 2012!
  10. Id be up for it, never done it before. Can anyone explain how it works?
  11. Just making sure And youre right, no way Gourcouff would get in over a Lampard-Essien or Fabregas-Nasri pairing. Not sure how Arsenal are lining up atm though, so that may be wrong.
  12. 10 players better than Gourcouff (in no particular order): Ronaldo Messi Xavi Gerrard Pique Sneijder Kaka Iniesta Sergio Ramos Diego Forlan Done. Oh, and Andrew Carroll The lad is an idiot. He wouldn't be in the top 100 imo, and wouldn't start for Arsenal or Chelsea. You've got hundreds of players like Essien who are in a different league. The kid is a WUM, or young, one of the two, but at least he's forming his own opinions no matter how shit they are if he's not a WUM. Are you referring to me or him? And the Andy Carroll bit was a joke, relax. Regardless of position, you can have a general consensus over who the great players are at the moment. Sure, Iker Casillas is a keeper and Marlon Harewood is a striker, but theres no doubt that Casillas is a better player. GeordieMentalist didnt say "Gourcouff is one of the best central midfielders in the world"
  13. Was hoping to see him and Ranger doing a cover of When the Sun Goes Down by the Arctic Monkeys
  14. 10 players better than Gourcouff (in no particular order): Ronaldo Messi Xavi Gerrard Pique Sneijder Kaka Iniesta Sergio Ramos Diego Forlan Done. Oh, and Andrew Carroll
  15. Just seen the goals, and I have to say the first wouldve probably been saved by Hart. Foster was just completely flat footed
  16. Just got home, can anyone give a general overview of how Andy did?
  17. My firstborn shall be called Newt Cassel
  18. You bet, haha. I had an idea you might when you said it too. Excellent podcast, I love it!
  19. New owners bought the club, and I was given a £36.5 million warchest to go off and spend given that I qualify for Europe. Heres who I brought in: Alejandro Alfaro, Sevilla, 1.7 Hatem Ben Arfa, Free Adam Johnson, 7.6 Ritche De Laet, Free Kyle Naughton, 1.7 Vincent Kompany 3.2 Ibrahim Afellay, 3.6 Also let Barton, Smith, Shola, Simpson, and Guthrie go on frees
  20. Sorry if I'm wrong, but I was under the assumption that Carrolls groin thing was just a niggle, not a full blown injury. He might make Bolton
  21. Season 2 done. Finished 12th, which was worse than last year, but my team was much better and I feel like they played much better. But I guess thats just football. Played with this formation most of the season: ----------Lukaku---Carroll Jonas-----------------------Wilshere --------Biagianti---Nolan Enrique-Collo-De Laet--Mattioni --------------Krul Carroll, was immense, scored 23 goals, and just missed out on top scorer to Kris Boyd. Going to try and bring De Laet and or Wlshere in permanently in the summer, which would make my side extreeemely young, what with Carroll, Lukaku, and Krul already starting, and Vuckic, Ranger, and Lua Lua on the bench.
  22. If you could swap Carroll with Ben Arfa, i.e., have Ben Arfa playing and Carroll with a broken leg, would you? I wouldnt.
  23. Andy doing well for me in my second season. 11 goals in 12 games, and current top scorer of the league
