  1. Interesting stat by Opta today: 1 - Just 1 of the 25 sides to have won 25+ points in the first 11 games of a PL season have ended outside the top six in that campaign. Form
  2. Highlights, enjoy http://www.footytube.com/video/newcastle-united-everton-nov05-95085?ref=tchan_ov_vidgrid
  3. His chipped pass started the move for Ba's 2nd goal against Stoke I believe. It really is a necessity to keep Colo, we won't find much better than him
  4. ie. Situ, the Summer window trialist. He seemed to meet the criteria, and going by some match reports sounded like a very interesting prospect. I wonder if the the club's everpresent pursuit for the 'perfect deal', financially, was the roadblock that prevented that move from going through. Not exactly. He had one match I believe where he scored one or two goals, which made people get a bit excited about him (me included). But he's gone to Swansea now, and I honestly don't think they'd have offered more than us. And if he's at all decent he would've been snapped up by a bigger club anyway. Although tbf he was one of the world's best defenders in FM2010 for me!
  5. To be honest, I'd rather take an established foreign player. I trust the scouting system that's brought us Ben Arfa, Cabaye, and Tiote, and I'd rather get a cheaper option with the desire to succeed than someone of the likes of Richard Dunne. And are there even any defenders other than Samba outside the bigger clubs that would be an improvement on Colo and Taylor? (<- this is a serious question, I cant think of any)
  6. He's scored 15 goals in 2011: less than his first full year in the Premiership. VERY impressive.
  7. Anyone know which site has the best minute-by-minute text feed? Usually I use SkySports.
  8. How long a Toon Fan : Technically about 11 years, but have only been an active supporter for the last 6 years. Why the Toon : I was born in SE England, but moved to the States when I was about 4 years old. Didn't like football that much growing up, as I was a massive baseball fan and wanted to be a baseball player. Went on one of my regular trips to England the summer of 2006 after the World Cup, and fell madly in love with football. Needed a team to support, and remembered the Newcastle jersey my Geordie Granddad had bought for me when I was 8. That, and the fact that Michael Owen was my favorite player at the time led me to being a Newcastle fan. That said, there wasn't much debate over what team I'd support: the top 4 we're right out, as I can't stand those bandwagon teams that everyone supports just because they're successful (the Yankees), and I had no local allegiance to any other club (the closest club to Canterbury is Gillingham I believe). Location : New York/Montreal Toon Games been to : Went to my first games ever this summer. The first was the infamous 2-0 victory of Darlington, where I may or may not have invaded the pitch. Got to pat Joey Barton on the back. Went over to tell Yohan Cabaye that it was my first Newcastle game too, but slipped on the wet grass and slide tackled another supporter. He said it was 'nee bother', which was a relief! My second game was the opening day 0-0 draw with Arsenal. Where we have been / are going : Not a fan of Ashley, but I really like what Pardew has done with the side. As much as I hated the sacking of Hughton, and the selling of Nolan Barton Carroll and Enrique, I think we're a much more cohesive and varied side than we were this time last year. I think the selling of Nolan in particular was a shrewd move, and despite not agreeing with it at the time, I think the right decision was made. I think Europe is a distinct possibility, and I believe we could very well be an Everton/Villa type of side who is consistently finishing 5th-8th. Assuming Ashley doesn't flog our best players this winter/summer.
  9. Just need QPR to win 6-0 and we'll be third!
  10. Or three teams, like we did last season
  11. Pulling an all-nighter to finish a paper that's due at 11:30 tomorrow. Not particularly hard, I just keep myself busy with other endeavours, and I procrastinate. Being in a coffee shop at 5 am in the morning is a strange feeling -- a weird cast of characters around at this time. That said, quite pleased with how busy I am with film and comedy stuff, so its not all bad! Just finding it hard to manage my time now that I'm actually doing important shit with my life.
  12. To be honest I don't think a center back is a major priority. I wouldn't dare disrupt the Taylor-Colo combo, and Williamson is decent enough backup for the Premier League.
  13. Good luck on finding a club with a better backup keeper than Steve Harper. I'd take him over Ross Turnbull anyday
  14. Does seeing Martin Tyler's stats column for this week ban me from answering?
  15. Looking at that picture, it doesnt seem that Steve Bruce has any lips. Weird.
  16. Same, Anyone got a good river? aye could I get a river too? cheers!
  17. Feel free to gaze longingly at my avatar picture.
  18. If they offered Carroll back to us for £15-20 mil, would you take him?
  19. Who else would Pardew play at left back given Santon is injured? Jonas?
