i can't really think of many but Fire, Walk With Me is probably one of my favourite Lynch films. yet it's universally panned even by fans of his movies. also. even though i've not seen it, i find it incredible that no one has released Luchino Visconti's adaptation of Camus's The Outsider on DVD yet. incredible novel. fantastic director. it cannot be bad can it?

mang! that opening track is fucking killer. the rest is meh. but that opening track!

maybe i am! but really. so i'm watching minority report in the background. meh.

now i'm truly lost. anyway. what was the deal with this parker guy and how did you suss out he was bluffing his taste?

each to their own. i did see it in quite a busy cinema (Notting Hill Gate) so that may of detracted from my immersion in the text, but I still think I would of found it a little forgettable.

does anyone think the nations criticism of McClaren's use of the 3-5-2 vs. Croatia ridiculous? Bilic said himself that is was the strongest he'd seen England play before that Robinson gaff. on topic, N'Zogbia has huge potential, but he needs to learn to use his attributes more effectively and not be as wasteful on the ball. in fact, he reminds me of a lot Theo Walcott, if a little more rounded.

i thought diving bell was pretty good. the cinematography was fantastic, and the director nomination was definitely warranted. but i felt it lacked it real emotional depth and didn't really move me in any way. in fact, it was funnier and less dramatic than i expected. which was odd. but the beach scene was gorgeous. i just wanted more power you know?

he's at Benfica. hit and miss first season. but i think that's to be expected given that he's only played in the MLS before.

i've not seen the Soderberg adaption but i know it's considerably shorter than Tarkovsky's so maybe that didn't help evoke the original's themes and style (which is slow but aesthetically engaging and involving).

i'm confused. Our other high brow critic. He hasn't seen most of the films he's banging on about though , so I hope you're the real deal. ha. well i've seen all the films i bang on about. i'm a film student and i'm really into european / non-classical cinema and i think my taste reflects this. that being said, i've not seen everything and i'm open to anything. yeah I agree White is wonderful, but it didn't leave such a last impression on me as Blue did, i love the sensory moments in Blue (scraping knuckles/the glacial movement of the chandlier), something which I feel is missing in the other work I've seen of Kieslowski's (a few of the Dekalogue's and the other Three Colours movies). Tarkovsky, I'm just getting into but Mirror is utterly sublime. easily the most moving piece of cinema I've ever seen. Solaris is excellent as well, but is nowhere near the levels that Mirror hits. i can't really explain why Mirror is so brilliant, because on paper it sounds awful, but it just has to be seen (and believe me, i hate when people say that). i can't wait to see his other films. Bergman is Bergman. you either love him or hate him. Winter Light is Bergman at his most nihilistic and despairing, and that's why I love it but equally it's so damning of the human condition that some may be put off by it. his classic films (Persona, Wild Strawberries, Seventh Seal, Summer With Monika, Fanny & Alexander) are all fabulous but Winter Light definitely had the greatest effect on me. and as for Punch Drunk Love, i think it's P.T. Anderson's best movie because it's easily his most concise. Magnolia is brilliant in moments but at times it feels incoherent and a little rambling, and i was quite unengaged with the Cop's storyline but when it's good, it's spectacular, the Tom Cruise monologue particuarly comes to mind. the same goes, more or less, for Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood, probably more for the former than the latter. There Will Be Blood is my favourite I've seen this year. anyway. enough typing! also, Crimes & Misdemeanors narrowly missed out on that Top 5.

i'm happy we're making signings like this. it's a win / win situation as he costs us nothing (relatively) and could potentially be an excellent player. that is. if we believe Mr. Wise.

this definitely isn't true. Straight Story has to be his most straight forward and accesible film. still it's brilliant. It's debateable. They're both true stories told without abstraction. I think you've been taken in by the title of The Straight Story a bit too much. i think The Elephant Man is way more abstract than The Straight Story. i don't think the Straight Story has anything of those lucid, elephant rape scenes in The Elephant Man. and Lynch is great.

what a result. went beserk when i found out. as i was travelling all day. my dad had tickets to a box, and everytime we scored the whole box went nuts which prompted a chorus of v-signs from the surrounding crowd. ah joy.
