we should get the snipers out and issue a policy for every incident seen they have the right to snipe one perpetrator, and have their scope as a live ustream. Then we'd see who are the bertie big bollocks and who are the tim tiny testicles

What is the biggest u-turn ever to grace the forum
Neville Neville Neville replied to LeazesMag's topic in General Chat
shirley not trying to derail your own topic. interesting you say 'are you still...' I believe I've not really commented (on online forums anyway) on the matter before. IIRC the only thing I'll have done is have an avatar wanting the new regime to sell/leave in the midst of keegan leaving Maybe you've got me confused with Neville Neville Neville Neville. Maybe you weren't the only one who was right and some people take a dignified approach to being right. Or maybe I was wrong. Or maybe I had no opinion on the matter. Who knows -

And a u-turn is what you did rather than just admit you got it all wrong. Anyway, I don't honestly know why you got involved in this thread......unless you are obsessed like mancmag and MF Surely a U-turn would be admit you were wrong. I take the point, maybe it isn't the most descriptive thread title, -

so bad you saw it twice in a couple of days!! thought I'd read the word bathos (rather than pathos) already on the board in the last few days, and thought it might be the new in word. but no, just the same poster, doing the same review. odd at least it made me look up bathos, so my vocabulary is one word stronger. -
went 2 easters ago to watch barca-bilbao used these folks for tickets as they delivered to our hotel and were much cheaper (then, anyway) than using seatwave/viagogo - had no probs. expect it might be cheaper if you chance your arm on the day but didn't want to risk anything http://www.barcelona-football-tickets.com/...CFQEd4QodaGusyA and stayed here http://www.barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/en-GB.../Sants/Home.htm was reasonable price and great location as its like staying on top of a tube/train station did the stadium/museum tour as well - well worth a look, plus all the other touristy stuff mentioned above

Heads up on if we bring him in seeing as we were interested 6 months ago and now he is on a free? LM...i get what your saying but the PL is ever becoming more and more "european" and so long as they speak english and can communicate and mix in then i dont really see it as a problem. I'd still like to see a english/foreign ratio at the club and across the PL of about 3:2 but i dont think thats gonna happen anytime soon unless FIFA extend the european compition regulations into domestic too. I can see the first few games of the season, where we may have a leaner, fitter, more mobile sort of forward player etc, but after the first month or two when the novelty wears off, we will miss the leadership, spirit, never say die, desire etc provided by Nolan in particular, which you need for a long season in the premiership, played in every sort of conditions imagineable, at different times, where every game is a real cutthroat knife edge competitive game etc. This isn't old hat thinking, it's how the game is in this country, you finish after 38 games where you deserve to be having adapted the most or the least successfully to all these conditions and demands. Its no fluke. Bollocks (IMO)! Great club captain off the pitch, a great scoring record, and a nuisance at set-pieces for opposition goalies but very capable of doing an invisible man act the rest of the time. Some/most of that will be down to lack of pace/fitness but when he had a sniff of goal he had enough in the tank left to keep going that wasn't seen when we were backs to the wall. That's acceptable when he was playing virtually as an out and out striker but not with 1 other in centre midfield. Beyond a couple of high-profile performances, its difficult to think of a game where nolan was a genuine MOTM contender. Its difficult to criticise his net contribution to newcastle last year, but I didn't see much (on pitch) of those attributes on the pitch, which is where it really counts. now if you'd said barton over the last season I'd have nowt to complain about

This is what technology has done for the world, things are only official once Danny Simpson has confirmed it. I'm not sure I can exist in a world like this

I'm going to try and play non-biased/blinkered devil's advocate. Purely from a footballing perspective, is Barton really that essential, and thus his loss that big a blow if it happens? Massive credit to him for the 1st half of last season where he and carroll were the source of a very significant amount of our goals but once AC left, there seemed to be a bit less magic from JB. His set pieces and crosses looked a lot less threatening and much more erratic once he couldn't just rely on getting the ball into a rough area and AC doing the rest. You then look at how he's generally done for us excepting that spell where AC looked unplayable and its mediocre at best. The chances of us finding another player like Carroll must be pretty minute as well. A lot has been said about the team spirit side of things and Barton's role in that, so there is a danger that him leaving could be the straw that breaks the camel's back given other problems at the club. He has also had a pretty good role in the media and generally sent positive and often non-club propaganda messages to the fans. I do also think that on the pitch he's the player I'd most want to be playing a through-ball to whomever our strikers are if they are able to make such runs. But that's more a damning indictment of the other players than a massive pat on the back to JB. Basically, I don't think it would be hard to upgrade from Barton in terms of what he offers on the pitch to the club sans Carroll. Its just that given Ashley's past record its difficult to see past it being a bad move. If we had a chairman with a clean slate willing to adequately re-invest in the squad, and a squad not looking on the precipice of relegation should some bad vibes creep in - I wouldn't bat an eyelid at him being shipped out. Obviously that's a fantasy make-believe world (until Ambani takes over, of course)

Great topic. I think this is spot on. There's echoes of when Roman swept into Chelsea as I remember that news breaking in a similar way. Can only hope that we don't end up in the same situation where zola had already agreed to move to cagliari as chelsea couldn't continue to pay his wages under the old owners and refused to go back on his agreement, and this gets concluded before the big 4 start harassing the agents of Sol and Kuqi

great post!!1!! we also scored the 2nd most goals at home in the season. what a great team. oh, but we're in the bottom 5 of home games won. what a shit team and we scored the joint least number of away goals. what an abortion of a team. tell you what, all we have to do is get the players to concede less goals at home, score more goals away and keep the same/improve the goals scored at home and conceded away. and ask everyone else in the league to politely act the same and we'll rocket up the table. i'm not quite sure what combination of signings and returning players are required to do that but it seems straightforward enough. i'd also get all your money on blackburn to qualify for the champions' league. 4th best team in the league at half time. all they have to do is replicate that form in the 2nd 45 mins of 38 games and the owners will realise their dreams. either that or get all your money on blackburn being relegated. what happens if they bring their form in second halves to the first half. It's madness. Its just about understandable if they are all about getting a new manager to start the rebuilding job that's coming up soon for them and they are concerned that maybe carlo's not one for the youngsters. However, Roman's all about the champs league and he has now discarded 2 of the few managers who genuinely know how to win that cup. Only thing that makes sense is if they get Guardiola or Villas-Boas, neither of whom appear overly keen to move this season.

Newcastle United Vs. West Bromwich Albion
Neville Neville Neville replied to loonyTOON's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not sure about a season or 2 ago but that was the situation when we lost 3-1 to stevenage this year. Was thoroughly outclassed, and resulted in tiote coming on to bail him out and being sent-off. Still Stevenage could go up through the league 2 playoffs, so its early to write him off as not good enough for a lower league 2 team
