    Zog Off

I can see his point of view, he could have thrived in the midfield three we were playing at the end of the season. from KK's point of view though how could he change a team that kept winning. with our squad as it stand's, i'd see n'zogbia in the starting XI no problem and we haven't really seen him play since keegan's return for one reason or another. if kev can rejuvenate to some degree barton and geremi, imagine what he could do with zog who actually has talent. we hold all the cards anyway with his contract situation, but if we were to let him go could we replace with someone better for a similar fee.
  2. Shit as they are, we have got into the bad habit of drawing with them i don't know how many times in a row, i'm guessing it's 5 or 6 now.
  3. wouldn't be too fussed either way if he did or didn't come, but i think he'd be a good squad member on a respectable wage. i hate to think what we're paying geremi, when i feel him and larsson are of a similar level.
  4. I think it's too much to ask too quickly, just having keegan for a full season will give us a true gauge on where we are. i think a finish between 8th-10th isn't unreasonable, but so much can still happen this summer in terms of us getting bodies in. owen keeping fit will have a huge bearing on the type of season we have.
  5. Everton and Newcastle are both interested in Dutch star Orlando Engelaar, Skysports.com can confirm. But German side Schalke are close to sealing a deal for the Twente midfielder and the Premier League clubs will need to act fast if they want to sign him. Speaking exclusively to Skysports.com, Engelaar's agent Eduard Burleson confirmed the interest from England - but admitted talks with Schalke are at an advanced stage. "We have spoken with Schalke and terms have been agreed," Burleson told skysports.com. "But the two clubs have not agreed yet, and so that is where we stand on that.." English interest Burleson admitted that English interest was now getting stronger and that 28-year-old Engelaar could very well be keen on a move to the Premier League. "I know Everton are interested and that Newcastle could soon make a move," he continued. "He chose to speak to Schalke, firstly because there was not any interest from England at the time and also because of the coach Fred Rutten [former Twener coach now at Schalke] - who was so good for him at Twente. "But if does not work, it is now clear could be English options." Burleson admits Engelaar's performances in Euro 2008 - where he has started every game for the Dutch - have made a number of club sit up and take notice. "Orlando has taken his form from Twente straight into the national side and continued at the same level," he said. "I think for this reason a number of clubs have suddenly realised what many of us already knew, that he is a very good player."
  6. He got 10 from 23 starts this season i believe, coupled with the fact we were shit and he had injury problem's + ACN duty, i'd say he's capable of 25 goals in a full season in a better side.
  7. Rozehnal has left us as per last week
  8. It comes down to Uefa co-efficient, i.e most successful side recently (last 5 years). If all teams were level on GD, goals scored and points obviously, Italy would qualify as they have the highest co-efficient currentl.y
  9. Torres, who do you rate out of our player's? I think Oba would do well at arsenal, only him and rosicky would be willing to shoot from outside the area, something that i know every arsenal fan i've spoken to frustrates them deeply.
  10. Retain all the keeper's we have, Harper will feel it should be his shirt to lose, Given similarly for how he's performed overall for us. Let them (given and harper) have an open competition in pre-season, split the minutes in the friendlies equally and make an assessment from there. If Given was to leave, he'll be fondly remembered by me as he brought stability to a position that never really had it before he arrived.
  11. The dutch and italian's must be licking their lips after that display from the french. even our midfield trio had more creativity than france. as some have said, a bit unfair to judge gomis when the service to the striker's was horrendous today. zidane could still get into this team!
  12. He wouldn't join us as he'd know he'd have no chance of dislodging Beye from right-back....makes me feel queasy, but have to thank Fat Sam for that one!
  13. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt here, I just think he's making it be known he's happy here as I wouldn't be surprised if a few clubs took notice of his performances last year. I'm just gutted he didn't come here earlier in his career, really been a breath of fresh air for me.
  14. I actually think Terry should get the job full-time anyway. I'm not sure about Ferdinand being captain and Gerrard should just concentrate on replicating his club form for country.
  15. I'd snap SWP up in an instant. When he was playing regularly at Man City he was probably showing his best form and 8-10 goals a season from midfield is what we sorely need as well as some creativity (I wish we'd just hurry up and bid for Arshavin)
  16. I like what I've seen of Zarate, seems to have something about him and he's only 21. Plus he's already had 6 months over here, so less of a settling in period that another foreign import would need.
  17. Your looking at West Brom struggling but could pull through as they play some decent football...the other two you just can't see staying up no matter who they are. Could we have two derby-esque clubs next season?
  18. Nine out of eleven will do to me in comparison to the team of the year announced tonight at the PFA awards. Looking back I can't believe I overlooked Ashley Young at the time though, he's definitely had the edge over Petrov for me.
  19. I've seen in a few other posts lately about us reverting to 4-4-2 next season, but I'm not of the same opinion. I think we should keep the 4-3-3 as we've been unbeaten with it, whereas we were getting thumped beforehand. I know confidence is also a major part of the revival, but teams can't work us out at the moment. The front three - It seems to me that the two centre-backs are trying to pick up Martins and Viduka, leaving Owen to ghost into his once predatory positions. Owen has also been working hard getting back to make it seem like a 4-4-2 without the ball anyway. I think we should leave the front three as is, though as good as Viduka has been playing I still feel we can get someone to do the same job with a greater range of movement. I'd give Carroll a start or two at least before season's end to see if he could be a find. The middle of the park - Geremi, Butt and Barton have all contributed well in our recent resurgence. This is the main area of the team I feel we can improve in the summer. I can't help thinking N'Zogbia would thrive at the moment in this system, but his days here seem numbered. Replacing Geremi with someone like Modric could make a huge difference, though it could compromise us defensively a bit. I like Butt's endeavour, but his passing can be way off and he knackers easily in some games. A young replacement with an eye for a pass would be ideal (Lassana Diarra would have done the trick back in January). Barton can stay for the time being as he's beginning to get some form back, but I still feel he's lost a yard of pace on last season, which I'd hope with a full pre-season behind him he'll get back. The defence - It's been a pleasure seeing Habib Beye in a black n white shirt this season and I think he can get even better next season. Enrique is coming along and I'd only ask that KK get's some cover for him, but I think if he can learn the language in the summer he'll have a good year next season. I've been critical of Taylor and I still think he's a twat, but he's been getting some form back recently and has no doubt benefited on the settled partnership with Faye. Faye has been another decent buy and with a top-notch centre-back coming in could be moved into midfield as an upgrade over Butt. The keeper- Shay has been super for the majority of his career with us and I will never forget some of the situations he's got us out of...but he will be cursing Marlon Harewood for possibly the rest of his career. He just hasn't been the same since and I think it'd be an injustice if Harper doesn't start next season as the No.1.
  20. Have to thank Big Sam for the two full-backs in the very least. I hope he'll be taking crash course English over the summer as that could add another 10% to his game. I'm not sure about his pace, he appears slow at certain times to me, but that could just be deceptive due to his running style?!
  21. We haven't lost under Keegan when Oba has started to be fair. He looked the most lively of the front three yesterday, but just wish he'd taken the shot earlier when Barton put him in early 2nd half.
  22. Zidane for me, mainly due to his performances in Euro finals, World Cup final and the wonder goal in the Champions League final. All the talent in the world and the major honours to back it up.
  23. I wouldnt mind him going to Arsenal, but can't stand the thought of him going to the spuds and doing well
  24. I'd put the Toon getting three points above that.... only just though, followed by Hot girls kissing each other > everything ever
