If you were fighting against relegation and you saw someone in a Barcelona shirt not bothering to even RUN to try and prevent a goal, do you think you would be so generous? oh give it a rest. if he didn't give a shit, he wouldn't have started every single game of the season except for one. he wouldn't have been leading "minutes played" column out of all your players - that's a sign of a committed player who takes care of himself and who is deeply committed to the cause. you don't bust your ass off all season only to suddenly realize at the most crucial hour that you don't care. he's a dependable, consistent player, which he's been all his life. not even bothering to run?? you're playing chelsea and he made a crucial mistake. he probably feels like crap. how about you judge him for the entire season when he's been head and shoulders above most of your players, who are either living it up in the treatment room or are such crap that the spend most of the game chasing the ball and when it finally gets to them, they don't know what to do with it and give it away. also, he's in his first season in a new league, and it's well known that several foreign players take a while to adapt to epl. amazing how quickly you guys turn on your players.

Are you calling Beye? You want to watch yourself. phenomenal use of the english language. want to explain what you were trying to say?

i wish you all the best of luck in trying to stay up! it would be a travesty if newcastle united were to get relegatd. i know the argument has been made that if you go down, it'll be the kick in the arse that the management needs to understand that a massive restructuring is needed, but i think i near death escape would send just as great of a message. fulham's form this year is testament to that. really wish you all the best!

guys. for the last few years, he has CONSISTENTLY been one of the best defenders in la liga. don't you think there's a slight, slight possibility that it's not that he's shit, but that he's surrounded by shit all around him, thus making him overworked and more prone to mistakes? he's a lot like carles puyol, and not just because of the hair. that's how he plays, but to get the best out of him, you need a bigger, more intelligent defender next to him. him and bassong can make a good partnership. you just need to fix your midfield so that it relieves some pressure from the defense, i mean the amount of work they have to do each game, even terry and ferdinand would look average. and yes, before you start, i have seen him play quite a few games for you, and to say he's shit all the time is a massive lie and you all know it. he's inconsistent. big deal, each and every player in your roster is inconsistent, and to call some of them that would be a massive compliment to be honest. newcastle. nowhere does someone go from hero to villain faster.

Firstly, some very delusional members on here to think one of the brightest prospects in Europe would move to Newcastle at the moment. If I was a Newcastle fan, I would be demanding several new, young, midfielders before a new striker stepped through the doors at SJP. Buy some players that will win you the ball in midfield AND are able to pass it around. You only have midfielders that can do one or the other. Strong midfield will relieve pressure on the defense and help create chances, which your strikers can finish regardless of who they are. Right now your core is so bad that everything around them is suffering. Offense has no chances and defense gets hammered every week by countless waves of attacks.

These things balance out though don't they? Missed a penalty and disallowed an own goal, two equally bad decisions but either way it cancels out. 2-2 was a fair result, both sides had many chances to find the winner but a draw's a fair result in my opinion.
-
ohhhhhhhhhh deserved a winner right at the end there!!! jonas should have pulled it back instead of going for the shot! but great play to create that chance. all in all, decent performance, but hopefully you can get some new players and get rid of some old ones.

LoL this coming from the lad supporting a team that let fabregas and god knows how many b-team players go for peanuts can't wait till you end up paying 20m or more to get them back You know why we let him go for peanuts? Because we have one of the best youth academies in the world. Xavi and Iniesta, both of whom came through our youth academy, were our starting midfielders and would be for years to come. He had to option for waiting for his chance, but he chose to leave. Fair enough to him. But we can afford to do that because for years, we have invested in our own infrastructure, we produce a majority of our own players. Also, we always give our youngsters a chance to make it, each year a handful of them get promoted to the first team. Its a model that premiership teams like yourself would do well to follow, you won't see results for 5-10 years, but after that, you will be relatively self sustaining. If Ashley really wanted to invest in Newcastle, he should invest in helping Newcastle create a world class youth academy.

great goal by carrol!

You make it sound, oooooh, so easy hes a barca fan, pretty much every player in the world wants to play for them so it is easy for them And you're Newcastle. You pay insane amounts of money to average players to play for you, give them massive salaries, and then they never want to leave and you are stuck with a terrible team. Funny how most other teams don't struggle to get rid of bad players, I wonder why that is...
-
i said this 2 years ago. sell geremi and buy a winger who can cross the damn ball. your midfield is so bad that even john terry and rio ferdinand would look average playing as center backs.
-
wow you guys are getting dominated right now.
-
That was a clear penalty by Bassong, how in the world did he get away with that? Very lucky indeed.

Israel continues its merciless pounding of the defenceless.

Ironically you're basically saying what I have said, only you're living in "strawberry fields" if you think either side will do what is needed to find a rough peace any time soon (ceasefires for rearming don't count). Israel finds itself still under attack after some pretty massive recent concessions - whether anyone agrees they were "enough" is irrelevant (although Fatah more or less did agree), politically Israel can only submit so much after that they "have" to fight. Hamas has found itself undermined and weakened not by military might, but because they actions have indirectly cut off much Western financial aid to the area and hate is hard to sustain without money and food, their only real recourse is to start a war and hope for a Hezbollah style propaganda victory (highly unlikely really, given the massive differences in terrain and what Israel "needs" to do). There's no margin for them in peace. Realistically it would need an IRA/USA moment to stop things any time soon, that is for other countries to stop Hamas's weapon supply (although given how many of their rockets are made that might be tricky). But that is very unlikely to happen, much more unlikely than the USA completely cutting Israel free in fact. Not sure how you can hold these views and wake up in the morning and consider yourself a decent human being. If someone slaps you in the face, you don't tie them down, grab a chainsaw, and saw off their arms and legs. 10 years of rocket attacks killing 20 Israelis does not justify a military action that has killed 600 people, many of them civilians, and wounded over 3000!!! I don't care how terrible Hamas is, this action is indefensible and Israel should be tried for war crimes after this is over. I'm sick of the world giving Israel the benefit of the doubt just because of what Jews suffered in Europe. That does not put them above the Geneva convention and it's time the world decides enough is enough, condemns Israel, and tries the leaders responsible for the war crimes committed in these operations in international courts. -

The reason they continue to try and fight back is cause Israel is trying to suffocate them and starve them. They have limited access to water (just trucks sometimes), inability to travel, food shortages, money issues and on and on...UN is joke. This fact is underreported time and again. Israel was trying to create a humanitarian crisis long before this military intervention was started. How can they say they want peace and security on one hand and on the other deny those same people basic food and water? Destroying thousands of families and in the process, instilling deep hatred of Israel and West into the hearts of the survivors. The UN is useless because the US makes it useless. They veto any vote by the security council to raise even a finger against israel. However, if you read the comments of Sarkozy and leaders of other countries on the security council, you can sense that this might change. The frustration with the US and israel is tangible, and I hope that some serious changes are made to the UN so that it can once again be a powerful international force and not just a helpless puppet with no ability to take actions. -

Some issues that haven't been discussed yet. 1.) Hamas are in no way angels or saviors of Palestine. The have launched 5000-7000 rockets on Israel in the last 10 years. How many Israelis have these rockets killed? Less than 20. In one week, Israel has killed over 600 Palestinians, wounding close to 3000. How is that even remotely proportionate! 20 killed in 10 years, 600 killed in one week. Pathetic and unnecessary display of force by the Israelis. 2.) The UN school that was bombed by Israel was the only safe zone in the entire city of Gaza. These UN shelters are clearly marked and the exact GPS locations have been provided to the Israeli Occupation Force. Despite that, they still bombed it - objective probably being to further make the Gazans feel helpless even more than they already do. Then they come up with some joke of a lie that they were being fired at from there. You have UN representatives working at these shelters coming out now and vehemently denying that any such fire took place. And not only was this done at 1 school, not only at 2, but at three UN shelters!!!!! When this is over, Israeli military leaders should be tried for war crimes. 3.) Let's not forget that this last ceasefire was violated by Israel, not by Hamas. This is not just my opinion, this is a fact verified by most major news sources. Even the American media, which is very pro-Israel, has reported that the ceasefire was violated by Israel. 4.) Before this conflict started, Israel was already trying the create a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Arab diet is very dependent on bread, and before this conflict started, the UN agency responsible for distributing wheat in the area was warning that they are about to run out of wheat. Requests by the Palestinians to the Israelis to improve this situation were ignored. Furthermore, the Israelis control the water supply to Gaza and even being faced with a water shortage in the area, they refused to increase supply. These are barbaric acts, and no peace can be established if Israel continues to treat the Palestinians this way. Finally, check out this article by Robert Fisk in The Independent. It's very well written and makes great points, and I especially agree about the issue where he talks about the war crimes. http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/comme...sk-1230046.html -

How is that biased? What do you want them to say? They should pride themselves on being neutral because out of all the news sources out there, they are consistently the most fair and unbiased, at least when it comes to int'l conflicts. -
So you still don't acknowledge the Reid thing which makes it personal rather than racist/islamist? We do still have a lot of racist fans being truthful but things have changed massively over the years and I think the majority find any racism unacceptable. I think the few who did abuse Mido probably did include those who thought it was just a chance to "get away with" their nastier views which they've had to supress but I think the rest were genuinely partaking of terrace humour which can be unpleasant at times within certain boundaries. I don't really care about that because I feel that unpleasantness is a side effect of the passion I feel is being lost from the game. I mean you do have a valid point. On the other hand, let's say you had two Arabs. Even though Turks are not generally considered Arabs, let's use Tuncay since he's been mentioned by one of the previous posters. Now let's assume that the fans were in fact racist. Which "Arab" would they be more likely to target? Obviously the one that looks more like what the media would have us believe possesses the stereotypical attributes of an Arab terrorist. In this case, that would be Mido. Tuncay could easily pass as European if we go purely on appearance, whereas Mido would not. Therefore, while it might be the case that it's an unfortunately coincidence that Mido looks like Richard Reed, I think it has more to do with Mido looking like a stereotypical arab, and that then being associated with terrorism. Then you think wrong. As has been said, Newcastle fans are not singling out an arab looking Egyptian, they're singling out a Richard Reed looking man. It wouldn't matter if he was Jewish, Christian, Pagan or French, he looks like Richard Reed, hence the song. If he looked like Gordon Ramsay I'm sure we'd have accused of knocking up a mean Sausage Casserole... but he doesn't so we didn't Strikes me there's more islamophobophobia than anything else. I see your point.

You're barking up the wrong tree. It would be racist to suggest because he's arabic he's got a bomb. It's not racist to suggest he looks like Richard Reed. Right, very innocent explanation. So only newcastle fans picked up on that resemblance then? You don't see the rest of England singing songs about how he looks like Reed. It's much more likely that your fans are racist and he was being targeted as an Arab and as a Muslim, which is despicable. Are you Spanish? nope, but i am a muslim and am offended that your fans sang songs about a muslim having a bomb. yes i am aware that the spanish are a very racist group of people if that is what you were trying to get at by asking that question. however, it is good that the authorities took action against the people responsible, and i hope this doesn't happen again at SJP or at any other grounds in england. racism in all its forms needs to be tackled agressively throughout europe. I don't think the song was a particularly clever thing to sing. And I do wonder whether everyone was singing it because they thought he looked like the Shoe Bomber. However, the fact that we play matches week in week out where there are any number of races and religions on the pitch, and I hear no racist or religious chanting, means I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. You probably should too, if you really think about it and get down off your high horse. Fair enough. Just making the point that any time there is racism towards a black man anywhere in europe, there are tons of articles about it everywhere. I just feel all forms of racism should be condemned equally. But you're right this was a one time thing by only a few fans, and action was taken against them, so I'm willing to let it go at that.

How are songs about Arabs having bombs not racist, cheap, and juvenile? Songs about black people looking like monkeys are racist, so why is there a debate whether Arabs having bombs is racist? Both are tastless jokes and there should be no double standards. Stop acting like your fans have done nothing wrong, this perpetual victim act you newcastle fans have going on makes me sick. Get over yourselves and don't complain when your fans act like racists and then get punished for it. There are things that simply shouldn't be defended - this is one of them.

He's eligible to start playing from January 2. But honestly, only at Madrid would the solution to an injury crisis be to sign another injured player! He's not match fit right now anyway, let's see when he'll be ready to go. No doubt he's a class act though, he'll do very well in Spain.
