  1. No they won't, they know he's shit. If he's not going to be our manager, what's the point?
  2. Who does Ollie support then? I mean apart from Hearn and Joshua.
  3. I don't like to go down the route of "everyone hates us", but I really don't get why we are expected to put up with colossal bastards like Fat Sam, Pardew and Bruce, then we get grief for rightly calling them out. Tbh, the Spurs sacking was a disgrace, Nuno had only just won manager of the month a couple of weeks earlier, but they saw the chance to get Conte and stuck the knife in. Not even a peep of sympathy from the national press.
  4. I was reading this morning we've never started the season without a win in the first 12 games, and only 2 teams have survived previously without a win in their first 12. We need 3 points.
  5. Used to be 6.30 am at Bournemouth, seems like they are seeing Newcastle as something of a vacation.
  6. For those who were doubting the ambition of the new owners, this should give some indication we mean business. We did what it took to bring Howe in. Might not be the biggest name, but realistically at this stage, we can't attract the very best, but Howe is still a very highly rated manager.
  7. Sky Sports spending the top of the hour blathering on about the Yorkshire cricket stuff. 10 mins and counting so far.
  8. Well he took his time, but glad it's done. I think it's a great fit, but he walks into a tricky situation. If he can negotiate the relegation battle I'm sure he will go onwards and upwards. I don't think he'll change his approach, he likes to play aggressive football. People talk about his potential defensive weaknesses, but the attacking drive can deliver wins as well.
  9. If we're going to be throwing money at players, I would hope they would be better than Origi.
  10. As long as we are still in touch with safety, then we'll be able to get players here, maybe not the highest calibre, but much better than what we have now. It's not dissimilar to attracting a good manager. Despite our position, we've been able to land a highly rated one. But we can't wait for January, we need Howe to work some magic and start picking up points. This month really, as December looks grim.
  11. I think this is a great appointment for both parties. Eddie will get to take charge of a big club with cash to spend. This will be where he proves his reputation. For us, even if he gets homesick by the time his contract is up, we'll hopefully be able to appoint the next tier manager. Of course would be even better if Howe himself turns out to be the one.
  12. Fuck Jet2 btw, I've sat on comfier bus seats. Never again.
  13. Still beats sitting on a Jet2 flight on a plane full of mackems.
  14. When we play our friendlies in Riyadh, start a twitter campaign that you are on your way over wearing a bowler hat and Union Jack t-shirt, maybe they'll sort you out a VIP seat. 👍
  15. Ashley sold just in time tbh, can you imagine our chances if Bruce was here with the club wallet still stashed firmly in the safe? We at least have a fighting chance now with a good manager and some cash in January. But yes, it will still be a hard slog thanks to the disastrous start by 11th choice/1st choice really.
  16. He travelled thousands of miles and turned up to support the toon wearing all his arab paraphernalia. It was a good story and PR. If he gets a free ticket every match it would be something to complain about.
  17. He's shown his hand by sitting next to Amanda, he's not going anywhere else realistically. I wouldn't be surprised if Fonseca ends up at Villa though.
  18. Eddie Howe will definitely introduce the work factor. His Bournemouth team could never have played a pressing style so effectively for such a long time in the Premier without it. I would be more enthused if I was 100% sure he was our next manager, but until he signs the contract I am holding off.
  19. Wouldn't surprise me that much if Howe manages to get a tune out of Hendrick tbh. Seems like one of those players who needs to be told exactly where to be and what to do, otherwise he's lost. Brewcie's let's playy!" instructions probably left him confused as fuck.
  20. I think a lot of people are complacent to the fact we had a lot of our easier fixtures up front in the early part of the season. I still think we will be ok with good coaching and the January window, but it's hard to stress just how disastrous the Bruce appointment has been.
  21. I guess. Howe would have to be pretty ruthless to insist we sack Jones.
  22. But if Howe is so particular about his backroom staff, where will Jones fit into that picture? He would almost seem a spare part. Unless Howe is not as fussy as is being made out.
  23. So they showed the Manchester derby live this afternoon, now they've put the full thing on again as Game of the Day. That makes sense.
  24. I don't have much problem with the defensive shape tbh, it's what these players have been schooled in for the last 5 years. But there doesn't seem to be much thought given how to counter effectively. This is what the likes of Rafa probably spent most of his time addressing and setting up. But you need good passers from the back to do it, and Jones doesn't fancy the ones who can do it.
  25. Tactical shift was "Ok I don't think they are going to put it into their own net after all, maybe we better enter their half of the pitch"
