I think he'd sound just about the same tbh. The usual combo of dribbling and spluttering where you could just about make out the odd "yeah"

He'll pick up for a couple of months, then he'll go back to letting his standards slip like he has in the past, not just here but at Swansea and Liverpool as well. But if we can get him to perform for a couple of months that would still be good for our attempts to avoid relegation this season at least. I doubt he'll be here next season.

I'm conflicted on this one. I don't ever want them polluting the premier again, so would be quite happy for them to stay stewing in the 3rd division. But at the same time we need to settle a few scores from those derby day disasters which Pardew presided over. They need a good fucking hiding, and by the time we play them again, more than likely we'd give them one. Maybe get them in the FA cup or something.

No, he just needs to up his fitness levels to modern day standards. This is something he himself has admitted he needs to do. Howe is right that Shelvey is technically one of our most accomplished midfielders...by some distance. But anyone playing in a Howe side will have to have a pretty high level of fitness. Shelvey won't be able to get away with 60 mins of ambling around the pitch, then feet up for the last half hour. Let's see how long Shelvey lasts. He had spells with Rafa where he looked decent, then he seems to lose hunger for the game, or maybe he just can't resist a few cans after training. We'll find out I guess.

Nah, he just needs to be fit enough to execute Howe's plans. There was never any doubt he has good technical ability.

Must admit I'm really looking forward to how we line up in our first game under Howe. I can't see us sitting back like we've done for the past 5 years, but at the same time I don't think we are going to be transformed by two weeks of training properly. Will be fascinating to see which players adapt quicker, although I can already imagine it will be the likes of Ritchie and Wilson, but also maybe Hayden and Lewis if and when he gets a run in the team.
