It could turn out to be someone uninspiring like Howe - or Martinez for that matter - but all the noises coming out of the club hierarchy are that we aren't going to be making a short term appointment. Reported to have said that the long term appointment will turn out to be the best short term appointment as well. They would rather take their time and get the right man. Of course if it turns out to be Martinez or Howe, you would wonder about their judgement.

Man U fans will be raging that their board dithered over sacking Ole, they were talking about Conte going to Old Trafford last week.

6 points adrift of safety is significant tbh, Brighton up next and I don't fancy us to do much in that one. They are going toe to toe with teams like Liverpool, I don't think our 20% possession stats are going to improve much.
-
Which is why Fonseca has been the only one who has publicly put his hat in for the job. He's still relatively green and is trying to build a reputation whereas those like Conte and Rogers have made theirs already.
-
Emery would be a great appointment tbh. He's won stuff, and his teams are well organised. Having experience already in the Premier won't hurt either. It would be a really practical appointment. Although sounds like it will be quite expensive.

Wow. We're keen to pay a huge transfer fee to Villareal to get him over here. Really. I want to believe though, so just get it done.
-
Man U will be furious if Conte ends up at Spurs. There was that headline in the Times yesterday screaming that Ole should still be sacked despite winning on Saturday. Football journos are good at lecturing geordies, but when it's their own precious teams they start losing their shit pretty quickly.

I don't want Nuno, never really liked his defensive style. If we're going down that route I would prefer Mourinho or Rafa, at least they've got the trophies to show for it. But personally I would rather we change direction and go back to a more attacking style. Tricky perhaps given our current predicament, but if we survive, we'll be all the better for it.

If any of our preferred choices picks Spurs over us, then he wouldn't be the right man anyway. I know they are further ahead, but there's a ceiling for Spurs, and they'd be dealing with Levy. Long term, Newcastle will give the right manager a lot more options. That said, I still think a few managers would pick Spurs right now given the choice.

Two headlines in The Times today: Nuno on the brink of sack at Tottenham Bruce and Ashley have gone so who is to blame now for expensive mess? Those are the actual fucking headlines, written without a hint of irony.
-
Unai Emery would make the most sense out of all the candidates tbh. I reallly hope it's him.
-
Bruce was desperate to sign Willock, not surprising really since he saved his job last season. We spent all our Ashley budget on him for the summer, if he knew he was crocked, he wouldn't have give a shit, he'd have played him anyway in the hope history might repeat itself.

Spot on. Viera has done wonders so far this season. -
Spurs must be regretting picking Nuno over Fonseca now, their fans don't look happy at all. What a turnaround from the days of Pochettino. I think we need to get our man in before Spurs start pitching their hats in for a new manager as well.
