I was in Liverpool yesterday and talking to a couple of Scousers. Said they didnt want Kuyt, and certainly not for £10M. What people have seen of him dont seem to have been impressed. At the moment, my line of thinking is that for £5M or under, we need to take a risk. Mind you, Im also thinking why didnt we go for Hasslebaink, though I suppose GR maybe thought he would have had a striker by now.

I was there when I was a kid and loved it. Went to a couple of places in Wales and once in Scotland (Ayr). Main things I rememember are playing pool, climbing around those plastic weird shaped climbing frames, learning to roller skate, being in the beaver club (oh the innocence), and being shipped off to bed early so my Dad could go out on the piss

It was class at the Shearer testimonial when everyone waved the scarfs around. Good on the club for trying to recreate that. They have done their bit by supplying free scarfs. Many might scoff at the gesture, but many would moan at the club if they had said, "come and get your scarfs from the club shop witha 10% discount". So I applaud the club for trying to do the right thing. Now its up to the supporters whether it takes off or not. No queue the "Man Utd dont give away free scarfs", "small club mentality" yadda yadda yadda

Today Ive been mostly drinking ...... crushed apple juice though last night I was on the Desparado's - if you aint had it, I recommend. They do it in Agora (ex-empress) which is a canny little venue nowadays. Desparado is a bit like Sol, but also has tequila in it, though you cant really taste it. Nice with a slice of lime in the top and comes in at a not too shabby 5.9%

Why all the negativity about shearer? Im struggling to find what people problem with him is. Everyone assumes he has a big say in how things are run and the influence he has over the club as a whole. Im more than sure GR is his own man and will do things his way. If he wants or asks for AS's opnion or help with something then alls well and good. As for bidding on the strikers, I think we have enquired, but if bids have been made then things are being played quietly. this is very understandable if we have competition for the players we are after.
