One of my favourite albums to date, also from the 80s
-
I've a box of vinyl in my garage and I've been threatening to get a player for far too long and then start adding to my collection. Our lass isnt too keen on the idea mind Most of my stuff was on tape and thats long gone sadly. Still have some good stuff though. Album covers were a thing then as well. I remember thinking the Beatles White Album was meant to be covered in random images until I realised my Dad had covered it in bizarre stickers.

FTM were class like, still listen to them now. I think anyone here who knows music knows the 80s produced some cracking stuff. I think everyone is missing the point though in that we were talking about CT saying he loved the 80s music and I pretty much guarantee thats not what we're on about when we say the decent stuff
-
no accounting for taste and all that
-
Yeah, I dislike most chart music then and now. By that I mean the popular reknown stuff that springs to most peoples minds. The 80s produced some cracking tracks that were still in the charts, Buffalo Girls, Ghost Town, When Doves Cry but against those, We built this city & some Rick Astley stuff got to no 1

Every decade influences another naturally, Kate Bush is one of my favourite artists and she went on to influence current "chart music" that I dislike (Florence and the Machine as an example). Wasnt all bad as I say. Cocteau Twins I like and rose to fame in the 80s but are far from what I class as shit chart music in that era.

Fucking hell man

He has to be one of the poster boys for 80s shit music like.
-
Main thing I think in the 80s most of us likely remember & dislike is the manufactured music from SA&W and anything similar.
-
Decent stuff in the 80s, I liked some stuff of Duran Duran, Prince, New Order, Specials, Dire Straits, . Madonna was the first lass to be pinned on my bedroom wall, then Wendy James & Blondie.
-
I started off liking stuff like Queen & Kate Bush as thats what my Dad listened to and I still like both today. But then through my brothers influence I started liking Punk & Ska. As I hit my teens and rebelling against pretty much anything I slid towards Goth & Metal and could regularly be found pissed in the Mayfair or the Broken Doll. My late teens I found drugs, or they found me and next thing I know I'm in the Carlisle Sands centre at a "Phobia" of my head to Altern-8 and Rozalla, after all, everybodys free This edged its way to me liking trance which I still listen to when out running. Pink Floyd, FSOL, The Orb, Primal Scream all came from getting stoned at my mates flat. So aye, I've been through numerous musical styles and enjoyed, still do enjoy, many of them. But the 80s were fucking shit (mostly) and still to the day I have a general dislike of chart music.

Totally agree, amazed how many people (mind twitter isnt a very good gauge tbf) have a "fuck them if they dont jump at the chance to come" when you think how low our standing is these days and what we're offering. Nearly relegated last season and a recently history of not wanting to compete for cups and the fans kicking off?

I wonder if our move for Mitrovic is in place of Austin (assuming we keep Cisse)

Firstly I fucking hate itunes with a passion. Second, I've just gave Apple Music a whirl to see how it compares to Spotify and it replicated the fucking annoyance of duplicate tracks on to my phone. All I done was said "save for offline" and in some cases its downloaded a track three times. So yeah, that started well

He's gone deathly quiet so aye, clearly he's been knocked down a peg for now.

So, Mike Ashley has a "personal relationship" with the editor of the mirror. The deal that is in place with that paper could just be down to that or "might" include sports direct ads in that paper. The Journo's are pretty pissed off about it and they have been told they still only have limited access to McClaren so they really need to keep their noses clean as it were. The Journo's are drip fed some snippets by the club and they make of that what they will. A number of the Journo's think that McClaren could do well though they are being careful giving too much praise due to being damned when they do as being "leaned on " by the club. Ashley apparently doesnt care at all what the Mirror write about him, the Journo's have free reign on that front. But get the idea that the club itself is a bit more sensitive. Maybe why MA is distancing himself from the operation. I'm still making sense of the above. As you can tell its from recalling a conversation Ive had with a journo. The bit that rings true for me is that its possible MA gets free advertising for SD and the paper gets preferred access to the club. Sounds just the sort of thing he would put in place.

Downside though is that I hate iTunes with a passion and if Apple Music suggested I connected to iTunes even once I'd toe punt my phone down the street. Its fine for buying music over the phone, but shockingly bloated and cumbersome when you need to add/remove music. I'll update and try Applemusic and it may win me over, but it will need to offer more than I get from Spotify. Disagree with your different markets thing as well when I'll be paying the same for either?

Dont see the benefit of this over Spotify. I like Apple but not someone who has to have everything they do, unless they bring in features Spotify doesnt that I "must" have.

Ignoring the vent system, you could get a fixed system (split, so indoor unit plus outdoor that hands on your outside wall) which anything from £1-2K depending on the style you want and size of room (this is per room). Alternative is to get a portable that sits next to your window and has a 6"dia hose that you chuck out of the window (think like a clothes dryer). Ugly, takes up room, but you chuck it in your garage after summer and only costs around £300

Purely based on stuff I do (which is fuck all like buying/selling players). I can agree a sale today and tell people we have agreed a sale, but I could post that sale in to my July figures. The cost of the sale would depend when the supplier invoiced me. We could agree a july invoice etc. Im not sure for clubs if they agree a legal document for the transfer of the player but I imagine they could say "we agree to sell this player on 1st July" and then its a done deal etc. Either way, like you say, all that happens is we take an asset so has no impact on profitability (until they mess around with that assets value I guess in the way we depreciate assets). As we are said to have "cash in the bank" and that we like to pay in full, that shouldnt be a sticking point either. I cant see any difference when deals do or dont happen basically.

Equally they can agree a transfer without it hitting the accounts until whatever date they want
