It’s going to be class having forwards that can finish, that ball by Bruno was immense but you knew Murphy wasn’t scoring from it.

I genuinely have more faith in Joelinton up top given what we’ve seen recently from Wood. I was fine with his signing overall but he’s been worse than I ever thought he would be and I personally hope we don’t really see him play past this season.

I’m just glad to see Gayle didn’t get a chance. Every time he’s got onto the pitch this season he’s looked disinterested, clear sign he’s going to be told to piss off in the summer. Be glad when we are rid of some of the absolute crap that have been getting high wages from us for yonks now.

I’ve seen the Gayle thing heavily mentioned on Twitter by our fans, a lot of who seem desperate to see him play. I don’t get why? The bloke’s utter shite at this level, and has looked disinterested when playing in the past. He might play if Wood needs a rest but he should be right in the skip as soon as the season ends.

Not meaning he is, I just don’t see 30 year old and injury prone Wilson as very good back up which is what he’d be if we spent a load on a new striker, and out of him and Wood he’d be more sellable. Getting in an extra £15m or so to spend and getting a decent 22 year old in on a free would be an adequate swap imo, if we are talking back up roles anyway.

Personally, I think Wood has this issue of being really shit. Joking aside I’d genuinely look to sell either Wood or Wilson, if we could get say 15m+ for Wilson and replace him with Nketiah (of course in this scenario we’d be buying a Nunez or whoever to be the starter), I think that would be a good move. As much as I like Wilson he can’t seem to sustain a run in the side, and although there’s an argument that less playing time might help my worry would be an injury prone back up can be an unreliable back up.

It could work, but I think their problem is there’s a crop of players there who likely won’t listen to him and work hard to make his system work. Getting rid of that contingent will be difficult given their ownership clearly operates under a merchandising focus, aiming for players with brands rather than ones that fit the system. Agree that there’s already been a hint of that type of issue with the pushing back against him bringing in his own staff. The other factor is managers get absolutely fuck all time there. I feel like if they’re not immediately successful they’re seen as a big problem and need to be sacked, a manager like this needs to build.

Aye you know a player is a waste of time when his best traits are “puts in a shift”, so you mean the bare minimum thing you should expect from a professional?
