The whole incident sums up Liverpool Football Club (tm) btw. It would take absolutely nothing for their fans to just say aye it was a dive, or it was soft, or VAR should have overturned it, they’d have won the game anyway (more than likely) but instead they’ve all launched into full on denial mode. Next week they’ll be fucking whinging about some massive VAR conspiracy against them after they’ve completely missed the chance to back up their constant claim that they and Klopp are on some mission to save football and call out issues with the game.

I really hate this type of snobbiness from journalists, I see it constantly now. Dubravka’s statement is also being misinterpreted to fuck btw, all the bloke said was he didn’t mean to make any contact with Jota (pushing back on the Mcmanaman argument of even if no contact he “intended it” )and he didn’t think it was a pen but it was given, somehow Honegstein has decided that’s Dubravka saying he made contact and the Liverpool fans have said Dubravka is saying it was a pen . The bloke literally stayed on his feet, ran a few steps then changed his mind and dived. Not a clue how Honegstein is being that adamant it’s Jota getting knocked off balance as the way he fell doesn’t indicate that at all. The “happier to go down in front of an empty net” is nonsense as well, he wasn’t catching the ball as he knocked it on expecting contact and it was likely going out which is why he then dived.

Honestly not sure whose at fault but it sounds like this bloke has been out on paternity for a substantial amount of the 13 months he’s been at the club, and also didn’t move his family up so was traveling back south a lot - seems it was more a poor fit? Whoever is in charge of that side of things has been doing a shite job anyway, Botman is only one example of consistently rushing players back from injury - Isak and Murphy have both been rushed back before making their injuries worse this season. Hopefully it’s fixed going forward.

Also, as always when watching us play these I had fucking Beglin commentating. Constant fucking twisting and moaning on, he never shut the fuck up about any time we had more than one person in the technical area. Is it too much to ask to just have a game against these pricks without having one of their arse licking ex players commentating?

Poor performance by our lot, Howe has to stop selecting Burn tbh any time Krafth plays he looks solid so why not play him? The centre of our midfield simply has to be improved, the second goal is easily prevented with a holding midfielder as the initial loose ball from Burns tackle would have been picked up instead we had to watch Bruno v Szoboszlai in a footrace. Gordon looks dead on his feet but managed a good bit of play for Isaks goal (brilliant take btw). Really don’t understand why Liverpool fans have such a complex mind, fucking booing the ref for not giving Joelinton a yellow but meanwhile he booked Miley for a tackle that wasn’t even a free kick and gave them two penalties that were never a pen (the second one was an utter fucking disgrace the bloke literally took three fucking steps before throwing himself over). Immense performance from Dubravka mind, some of the chances he was stopping were brilliant saves but he was massively let down by the team. Almiron of course come on and immediately dropped a clanger at 2-1 by not simply squaring it but instead blaring it 20 foot over - don’t blame him for the outcome of course but also not looking forward to his inevitable return to the 11 next weekend.

Aye a proper 6 gives us coverage and allows Bruno to focus more higher up the pitch, which is honestly his strength. Same with Tonali when he comes back as he’s also an 8 not a 6. A proper DM also allows us to keep pressure on more in games, even prior to the injury and tiredness our set up gave opposition time between attacks as the ball would go all the way back to defense (or currently to an opposition attacker who hits us on the counter) - whereas if we had Phillips there he’d sweep it up and get it back to the attacking players keeping the opponent hemmed in.

Aye Phillips is a very typical holding midfielder. I’m not his biggest fan but he’s the type of player we need to give our midfield balance, as at the moment we have Bruno, Miley, and Longstaff all going forward as 8’s with no one hanging back and teams are just walking right through midfield. Even with Joelinton and Willock there it’s still a type of player we needed, it’s just their all action pressing style helped mask it more. It’s similar to Liverpool getting Endo really, he’s not that great but he does his role and helps the rest of midfield keep pressure on. I agree with PL on the keeper tbh, Dubravka doesn’t seem to make a save nowadays he was canny a few years ago but sometimes he doesn’t even seem to move as shots fly in. Think DM, GK, and obviously the right wing are priorities this window.

He has aye, maybe it’s just me but I have so little confidence in him and I feel the defenders are similar v when Pope is in. Possibly coincidence but it just feels that way for me.

We need a keeper in January too btw. Dubravka may as well not be there half the time.

We also really need an actual defensive midfielder, currently have three players trying to play the 8 every game and no one truly sitting and anchoring.

I’m worried they’ve over done it in training early on in the season, we looked very tired early on and have racked up soft tissue injuries like mad. Howe had more than earned a poor season so for me he’s under no pressure of the sack but he has to start moving away from this loyalty of certain players and be a bit more ruthless at times, the Burn selection the last two games over Livramento stands out. We also really need to step up our recruitment, whatever any of us thought during summer the window has been really poor with hindsight, my real worry is your last sentence - we bought Barnes who suits a counter style rather than a more technical one and I agree we really need more technical players as part of our struggle this season is teams sitting off us rather than being open to our counter. Hopefully there’s some positives that come out of this half season as there’s been a lot to learn from.

Good on Miley for shooting. The last few weeks they’ve been terrified of shooting which is contributing to this form.

Nah you’re wrong on this, and have consistently been wrong on it. He is not good in the press, I’ve had this discussion before and ewerk even fact checked it and was surprised what I was saying was accurate as the way Almiron runs about makes people think he’s some star presser but he’s not. He chases pointless balls down, go and watch sides like Liverpool that press well - you don’t see players pointlessly sprinting 30 yards at a goalkeeper leaving their man wide open for the out ball as that isn’t effective pressing, it’s the opposite. You constantly bring up Trippier or Howe complimenting him as if that’s relevant, as last time what do you want them to say? He’s terrible at decision making? Saying he grafts is an easy thing to say - Jacob Murphy is far superior in the press I know he’s unavailable but we’ve had transfer windows to replace Almiron and haven’t that’s why me, and many, are frustrated. Then after each and every glaring error he makes people can’t say anything or their met with posts about how vital he is to how we play.
