I don’t understand how that’s even ‘Newcastle tax’, that’s just fucking people about. If you accept a bid you accept a bid, what’s the point in then late rejecting it and adding more on when no one matched or beat that bid? If they wanted more than the bid then don’t accept it, just state your price.

Shots fired.

Spot on. Btw, Howe and Ashworth have decided that transfers will be very under wraps - so apparently it’s only them two and Nickson that really know who they’re actually bidding on etc, unless it’s the odd bit that Nickson tells the scout team (obviously scouts will know who they’ve been told to watch but doesn’t always equate to further interest), or they tell actual journalists things. In short these ITKs are full of it.

It’s typical Liverpool bias that suddenly the press are drawing comparisons between the two. The same huckles hadn’t even heard of Nunez until January, Nunez may turn out to be a class player but he’s had one good goal scoring season in Portugal, meanwhile Haaland has been scoring an absurd amount of goals for years now and he’s still only 21

Having a true ball winning midfielder would free up Bruno, and help us increase our possession. Shelvey simply isn’t the answer in that role. I agree that RW and CF are vital, but a ball winning midfielder is so important for us, we need to be increasing possession and having a more solid base higher up the pitch allowing us to create more. As much as I like Joelinton his range of passing is a bit limited and he’s still fairly raw with his defensive positioning especially on set pieces.

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-linked-ibrahim-sangare-24203693 Targett, Botman, Sangare, Paqueta, Ekitike, Raphinha. Maybe stuff of fairy tales but imagine that for a window.
-
I agree with this tbh. I don’t buy the Italian press narrative that basically Lille want to sell to us but Botman doesn’t want to come, it would be weird by our lot to keep spending time on this if he had no interest in joining.

Another we can expect to be bringing up how much he loved playing for us in a couple of year to get on radio/tv. Class player, but also thick as fuck. As Alex said his lifestyle was to blame, shame really as he could have had a really amazing career.

His son plays for Wales U21’s, hopefully he’s using it as an excuse to watch Botman mind .

Aye, first transfer window since Almirons been at the club that his agent hasn’t pushed for a move. Almiron’s one I was hoping we’d sell, we really need to improve the RW and he offers the least out of the group we have.
-
It deflated Cabaye so much he put in a transfer request.
-
Right, putting together all the bullshit for a nice conspiracy theory. His agent went to Milan with what they wanted, Milan couldn’t meet it, so his agent has went to Newcastle, Sky Italia hearing the banter have moved to get ahead of the gazumping and have claimed our bid went up. Have to admit it’s a lot funner to follow than the Choudrey updates.
-
Disappointed CT didn’t post about this, the plane was in Milan Tuesday, then flew to Paris last night before flying to Newcastle today. The plane perverts are all sure it’s Botman’s agent .

Can’t be too careful with all these ITK’s about these days.

Yeah I guess that’s what I mean, there’s plenty out there in that price range and as I’ve said I don’t rate DCL highly. He could improve, and he might be less of a risk than some, but £50m on him is a risk in and of itself imo. There are players like Scamacca, Jonathan David, Moussa Dembele (Lyon), Simeone, etc who are all younger or similar age to DCL and would perhaps be attainable, cheaper, and seem to be canny players.
-
Yeah I agree on DCL, personal preference would be to get another player but he could definitely improve especially given, as you say, the likely step up in talent around him. I think my primary issue with him is I think for what he’d cost we could likely get better - but if we did sign him I’d be more than happy as I trust our lot.
-
I personally don’t rate Calvert-Lewin, he’s scored around the same as Wilson in certain seasons, which is decent but I think he’s a very streaky striker rather than consistent. On Ekitike I read somewhere that Erling Haaland picks up a lot of these soft tissue injuries as well, which causes him to miss quite a lot of games - the piece seemed to say it’s possibly down to him still growing and his body adjusting, perhaps Ekitike is similar as he’s clearly still growing into his frame. I also think soft tissue injuries are treatable/avoidable, Milan lab consistently enabled players seen as injury prone with these type of injuries to suddenly become consistent starters. I think it would be more of a worry if this was ligament damage. I’m not in any way shape or form a medical expert so all this could be wrong, I’m just going off things I’ve read in the past.

Good research Paul.

It’s entirely possible he thought they were in the Championship last season.

Aye, that team of the year reeks of bias towards Liverpool. They have 6 Liverpool players in there, and 3 Man City ones. Besides the omission of Son, they also put Thiago in there over Rodri I’m sorry like but there’s no fucking argument for that either, Thiago played about half a season and Rodri was fucking incredible this season. -
Yeah think Fab is taking a leap there, I doubt that’s coming from anyone at Newcastle probably more his assumption.

Seen it reported elsewhere too but this was the first one on my feed.
