  1. If there’s any truth to this then we have to be all in for him tbh. He’d add so much to our attack, then we can go and bring in options up front lower down our list than Diaby and we’d be set up very strong going into the season.
  2. That’s why he got it in a size XS, so it’s three quarter sleeves. Always thinking Adam P.
  3. I think the added bonus with Anderson is since he is under 21 he doesn’t count against the squad limits iirc.
  4. “Eeeyah aaahv found it Bill, somewun just left it behind this skip” “Dirty Mick I never doubted you, I’m promoting you to the commercial team!” ”gerrin, what’s that” ”oh you’ll figure it out, now give me that fucking sandwich you found, it’s completely vital to my purchase of Sunderland”
  5. I think last season it might have possibly rocked things, but it’s a fresh season now it should have went to Trippier. I don’t see the point in having a 28 year old captain who isn’t starter, he’s just a cheerleader at that point and he’s not a club legend as was the case for Noble remaining captain. I understand the captain does more than just on the pitch argument to a degree but at the same time him not having the captaincy doesn’t restrict him from speaking up or being a leader if he’s so good at it. I’d personally say being dropped almost immediately from a starting spot is more of a hit than losing captaincy to a title winning England international. Doesn’t make a difference to me overall but it is a weird move by Howe.
  6. Aye, it’s possible that the amounts are true, I agree it would be a bit mad buying a CB for that when we desperately need midfielders and attackers. They could be happy consolidating I suppose but with this lack of attack it’s a bit of a momentum killer. The thing that makes me seriously doubt it is that firstly it’s not really how FFP works, so when these journalists say “there’s only £35m left” it’s not accurate it’ll depend on timing of payments, agent fees, player contract etc etc. Secondly I don’t understand going for the players we’ve been after - how were we ever going to sign Diaby and Ekitike together? Surely the plan was never to only bring in Ekitike. If this is the budget then why aren’t we in for Sarr, Dennis, Cornet, maybe even working on Toney and Harrison earlier to try and get their valuations lower. It just all seems a bit off for me. The other angle could possibly be that they’re saying £40m for FFP in the same way they said £60m to Edwards early in the window. Which could be accurate? As if you say Botman was £35m over 5 years plus wages of £4m a year he’d be £11m against that £60m (obviously oversimplified everything as there’ll be other things involved I’m sure).
  7. Prior to MBS’s ascent to the throne SA was funding Islamist extremists, and I believe they had ties to Al Queda through those channels (iirc been a while since I watch a doc on it). The interesting thing about MBS is he wants to move Saudi Arabia more to the west (in some aspects) and because of that has cut off that funding and support of extremists, so basically from that perspective it’s a ridiculous point. However exiles post here is simply extremely racist. It’s aimed at Mehrdad, and is I guess implying because he’s from the Middle East he would commit an atrocity like that - Mehrdad is from Iran he’s not even from Saudi Arabia. None of that matters to the racist fucking cunt that is exile though.
  8. Aye he’s fucking clueless man. One of my mates uncles is ex-SBS and worked in Oman, Bahrain, and other countries training their forces. That list posted includes US special forces (and the Navy so probably Navy Seals), so it’s likely SAS and SBS will be there helping train combatants. I’m not saying what’s going on isn’t horrific but like you say there’s fucking heavy western involvement, exile (and others) need to pack in going on like they do unless they want to actually discuss the gray areas. Again though it’s clear what the reason for their posts are as it’s rarely applied to Man City and they actually reveled in PSG getting Ekitike, the latter which is weird as aye we absolutely cannot compete with PSG currently and no Newcastle fan thinks that.
  9. If this happens I fully expect we will see upstanding impeccable moral mackems like exile walk away from SAFC, their club would be partly ran by blood money if the deal goes through so they couldn’t possibly keep supporting the club.
  10. Aye, to be fair I think if it was the playing side he was more responsible for I’d be more hesitant but as he’s likely more the commercial side and as AH mentioned Atlanta bring in loads (for an MLS team), that’ll transfer better.
  11. I’m pretty sure he was there when Atlanta United were formed (or very early in) and basically set them up as a club, they’re one of the best ran clubs in the MLS. I read an article about him ages ago on the Athletic.
  12. Agreed, he could also be staying on message with the clubs push back against the view clubs have that there’s a bottomless pit of money. If we had the defence we have, with a Bruno, Joe, and Paqueta midfield, then bought or loaned a lower target RW like Sarr, Cornet, Hudson-Odoi I think we’d have enough up top with all the creativity and the ability to keep the line of possession higher up the pitch.
  13. That’s Reims in the little black book
  14. Buzzcocks is the most famous person from Cramlington. Also fun fact, he’s the fastest dancer in the North East.
  15. Aye, I don’t understand how the twitter crew think our CM is fine. They don’t show for the ball and they lose possession constantly. The lack of chances generated here is because we cannot get the ball through midfield, most of the time the forwards get the ball it’s from our full backs and our wingers have dropped deep.
  16. Our midfield is so poor without Bruno. Shelvey hides behind players unless he knows he’s 25 yards clear of opposition players, their passing and ball retention is a problem as well. The defence knows it too as they often just bypass our midfield.
  17. He is either a total fucking gimp, or is a genius and has created this character to troll everyone. At this point I genuinely can’t decide. Either way the content is going to be brilliant if we get into Europe.
  18. Not sure tbh but the article doesn’t really say what his tweet implies, it’s more just the opinion of the writer sadly: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1638861/Arsenal-Lucas-Paqueta-heartbreak-Newcastle-transfer-edge-Premier-League-transfer-news The bit he’s based his tweet off looks to be this: “”Milan thought of everything and I believe that means a lot,” he said. “The career plan is very important in the life of a player leaving Brazil.” Paqueta is clearly focused on maximising his potential and taking his game to the next level. And that means he could prefer a move to Newcastle rather than Arsenal. “
  19. Agreed, he’s a good finisher and iirc hard worker defensively. He wasn’t great his final season at Lyon but still did more than any of our current right wingers. He’d be a threat tbf and it would be a relatively cheap player who improves the squad so we can keep pushing forward.
  20. Agreed, at the moment we generally don’t have the strongest hand - as you say teams know the position we are in. We will occasionally get buy in from players like Botman and Bruno at this early stage, but many will be indifferent on the move (as it seems Diaby might be) - I’d read an interview with Botmans former manager and he said Botman panicked in January as he thought he’d miss out on his chance to join the project and was demanding to speak to the clubs president, that type of pressure from players will come in time but as you say it’ll be few and far between at the moment. I think for the above reason it’s entirely possible we end up signing Paqueta. It’s fair to say there’s interest on his part, we had good dealings with Lyon for Bruno so there could be the start of a relationship there in terms of mutually beneficial transfers, and I still think the Saudis will want a statement signing. If that happens I think the ball will really start rolling in terms of attracting talent - we could legitimately have the Brazilian national teams CM (well 2/3 and Joe possibly a fairly regular squad member in future as Casemiro is too good).
  21. I trust Hope a lot more so it seems like there’s truth to it. Saying that Hopes phrasing is more positive about Diaby then Edwards as it kind of reads to me like we lodged a bid or have said our price and have left it hoping they fold. Not sure why Harrison is a target, there’s absolutely no way Leeds sell imo they’ve just sold their best two players for £110m or so why would they sell their other winger and need another replacement? They barely survived last season so needing to replace two thirds of their front line would be mad. I’ve heard we have interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi, so maybe that’s the next target on the list. He looked good when he first broke through but I read recently he had some nerve issue that set him back and basically made him miss the whole of last season.
  22. Mr positivity strikes again. Iirc he wrote a similar article about Botman didn’t he? Maybe he’s right, but if he is our transfer team need to start targeting players that have valuations in the range they’re willing to pay, I get working towards your number 1 targets but we should maybe start to look for a Burn style signing in our forward positions as it would be ideal to get players in for a good chunk of pre season.
